Yes, agree. It looks much better in real world situations than photo/videos or under the harsh, over lit glare of a typical watch shop. Someone mentioned the term “stealth wealth” on one of the comment sections for this watch. It does exude an understated class - which is no mean feat for a watch type traditionally associated with the nerdy, pocket protector set. As a side bar, I initially picked up Gold ‘Thanos’ variant but returned it the following day for this. Classy but without the Bangkok tuk tuk style sensibility ;-)
This one is a killer: all basics you need are here no useless add-on, full metal and a 10 month solar battery with a power saving mode. I’ve just charged once in the sun and check the level and that’s it. I won’t worry about it. Just have to wear it. 😎👍

I converted my GD into the "vintage" V model with the original bezel and bracelet from the V and it was still cheaper than a real V. The GD is awesome for it's price.

I don't think WWVB shut down was ever seriously going to happen. It was proposed, but it seems like as part of a budget from NIST. I think as a sort of "this is what we'll have to do if our budget reduces from X -> Y" type thing. It hasn't happened, and I don't think it realistically can. So many important pieces of infrastructure would have issues if it shut down.

Bob can you adjust the ambient back light brightness so that the negative display is illuminated more and those easier to see at a glance? Can you do that through the app?

I want to upgrade it to this better screen and metal case! Someone tell me it will look good with a suite so I can justify it to myself😂😂😭😭

And it’s not a self proclaimed assessment, people appreciate it and it does get noticed…. I mean who are we up against in this day and age? @@dillonquick5134 7.5” wrist you can wear any and all of them. Do you want digital or analog? The MTGB2000 is very cool as well. Metal and plastic squares are all great. Pick couple and try them.
You mention scratches and patina but a scratch on the polished watch won’t look good. You’ll get a glaring silver coloured line contrasting against the black. This is the problem with painted steel watches. Go natural silver then it won’t look as bad and you can polish it. You can’t polish painted steel!
Gmw models are great but not worth over 400. Got a brand new gmw b5000d for 320 and even that was kinda expensive.. too bad that the prices on their metal squares are so over-bloated.
No, all divers look pretty much the same; the square G-shocks all look about the same. Yes, all running shoes look about the same, just change the logo
As much as I like casio, putting a metal case on a gshock doesn't cost $400-$500. The titanium ones are even worse. They overprice them for collectors and gshock fanatics, and it's unfortunate that it's working.
Expensive, yes. I recently got one for a great deal and I can vouch for the quality. Most watches, especially quartz end up using very cheap movements anyway. So you end up paying for the case and design. G shock squares just offer different cases for a different price, and the movement (module) is known to be robust and well made. I don't see anything wrong with the way they choose to price it.
To each their own. I own a bunch of G-SHOCKS but I prefer the squares as they fit nicely under long sleeve shirts, flannels, etc which comes in extremely handy here in Canada. Like Rob said, why water is wet
@@toddmarten1364 I like squares but they look so small on my 7.5" wrist. I live in Northern Illinois where it gets super cold and wear a large round G-Shock. Not too bad with most long sleeve shirts and coats. Water isn’t wet by itself, but it makes other materials wet when it sticks to the surface of them.
I would not pay $600 US for this G Shock. I love G Shock’s/Casio’s but nah! Yes I have lesser resin model G Shock with solar & Bluetooth & it’s brilliant! There’s too many other more desirable watches on my radar to even contemplate this model.👎🏼

I was able to see the display on mine so I painted it over and that fixed it.

Love mine. I modded a B5600 display to positive and put it in my this black B5000. Looks so so good (btw, its not patina. It's just weathered :))

You can adjust the time that the light stays on, either 2 or 4 seconds. There is no way to adjust the brightness.
I wish Casio would make their other g shocks look cool like the squares. Most are hulking giants that look tacky.

You are correct, this is the only G-SHOCK line which is using STN LCD. Great clarity. The old negative display in other watches was very hard to read.
