Thank you for hiring a person dedicated to just audio, there are not enough channels that do this and it really comes through. Hopefully after everyone hears how great it can sound they'll start to hire more of us.
I catch myself on a daily basis shouting at my screen, screaming "DO YOU EVEN PROOF WATCH AND LISTEN TO YOUR VIDEOS?"
I'm sick of so many CZcamsrs neglecting their audio.

While they were talking about it @11:52, I can hear the "silent hum" pretty loudly all of a sudden.
It's throughout this whole video actually and clearly an air conditioner. And I went back to the most recent main channel video, and I still hear it there.
It's definitely reduced significantly compared to other top quality videos shot outside of a recording booth, not as reduced as a fully foamed room like Linus's podcasts (LMG Clips). You can hear their shirts move...
But the subtle noise doesn't bother me whatsoever. I find it relaxing, just don't want it in music. All aspects of the sound design are excellent. Looking at the studio tour, how aggressive that air conditioner looks, I think he is reducing it the best he can without sacrificing voice quality.
I'm curious if they use a noise reducer like Izotope RX 8. It even works well for live recording reduction. Takes a sample of white noise and uses that as baseline, like most similar plugins.
Oh, okay so I went to the iPad 16 OS video the sound engineer said he worked on, and to hear the hum on that one, I have to crank my volume up to 100% where the volume makes my ears bleed and then the hum is ever-so slightly present. If I do the same with a Linus podcast video, I hear I think a computer's fan, just a bit louder for comparison. So a very solid job there. I can't get my white noise that low without cutting deep into my voice.
Oh, they said the same with the cutting out of the voice. I commented too soon.
Working for Marques must be a sweet deal. Seems like such a chill work environment.

Yeah it seems like such a sick place to work. And I don’t even work in tech or video production but hell, I’d learn just to work there lmao
10+ years ago when new devices had something interesting in them, this would've been dope as heck. I'm glad they've expanded into cars and stuff too though. Back when we had a local Google/Android blog, we did the same expansion, but making zero money and not doing articles on rumors and speculation ultimately killed our blog pretty much. Oh well.
@@mehulkalra2002 Yeah, that's right. I think Marques is pretty serious about his business since he one of CZcamsrs that drives to the office daily. He is probably much more strict when it comes to projects and deadlines than it seems on the videos.
I think it's quite the opposite. The pressure to always create something worth seeing by milions of people? Nah, thanks.
I would love to hear more about Andrew Manganelli…he seems to be the first and senior-most crew member but I haven’t heard the story of how he became a member of the team! He seems to avoid the spotlight.
Andrew has said he played Ultimate with Marques years ago and they have mutual friends.
ETA: Andrew has also said in the past that he heard Marques was looking for help for his videos. Andrew has a tech background, so that and their shared history and friends is how they got connected. This has come up in past videos/podcasts.
Appreciate you wanting to hear more! Can really say I avoid spotlight though when I host a podcast with Marques once a week 🤣

I just wanna say I’ve been ABSOLUTELY loving the studio channel. It has its own flavour, but great the great type of editing we’ve come to love and appreciate. And on top of that it’s just more fun overall. Main channel will always be one of the best out there on CZcams, but so glad to see more content coming out. Also helps us appreciate the whole team and amount of work involved in this Marques Empire lol
Love to see this Studio grow. I feel like I am a part of it somehow. Continue doing big tings man.

Physical office tip. In some cases, that hum you hear isn't actually HVAC/heating. It takes a lot of energy and effort to move air, and if it was moving at the speed/volume to make that much noise it'd be crazy.
What you're potentially hearing is building managed negative sound. One of our offices has 60 speakers around the floor (20-30K sqft) and its tuned to the frequencies opposite natural reverb / conversations in the space. If it was off, it'd be pin drop quiet and you'd actually hear people/conversations from farther away much easier. Just like a night when you walk around your house and everything's pin drop quiet (and the hairs inside your ear have started to stand back up in the quiet environment) - that bit of noise actually makes everything blend together nicer then if it was purely quiet.
Apparently our speaker system for that can play music too - though I've yet to try it :)

Dude, the sound design in your videos were always exceptional after 2018-2019, but man, recently it has reached to point of polish that I'm always wearing my QKZ VK4 (Old version) whenever I watch your videos.

20:18 is so true! I work on a weekly video series for CZcams/Facebook and being able to make intentionally bad edits is a skill I'm proud to have after spending thousands of hours making super polished edits.

Random pet peeve: people talking into the top of a Blue Yeti mic. It's a side-address mic, speak into the side (with the logo/power/volume) and not the top. They even have example images featuring a yeti speaking into the mic on the product page.

I connect deeply with David's example of Radiolab (22:55) for superior narrative storytelling. It was also an early media obsession for me and has always stayed with me. Loved this Q+A!
After what happened during the Black Live Matter movement, I have a question. Why in the team you present there is no black person? This lack is obvious, when we think about the thoughts you had about your skin color. The monochrome aspect of this team with the same phenotype is quite surprising, when you see that the leader is Marques. It's just a question. Thank you. 🤔

Agreed it’s so obvious. I work in tech and what comes next is they’ll say they haven’t found a black person that was a good culture fit. As if the person coming in is suppose to make the non black people feel comfortable.
I think his hiring the best person available for the job . Should he only hire based on race or gender ?

So it's not about having black people as a requirement, but about setting an example by doing your part. It's kind of strange to have a black person running the company and be so monochromatic. This is very disturbing. And your response is even worse. As if there aren't qualitative black people.
