- In part 1 of this Adobe After Effects tutorial, we will look at how to create a 3D afterburner to use with your Element 3D Jet Strike scenes. You wont need any special plugins, this afterburner effect is creating using standard Adobe After Effects effects.

Man, I learned a TON just doing this first part!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful
I'll have to post the video when I'm done if you can critique it and maybe point some things out that could be better??
Absolutely! Woudl love to take a look
IndependentVFX Awesome!! Hopefully should be done sometime tomorrow. Still trying to figure out the whole blinking lights thing lol. God I feel like such a noob lmao!!
I think it looks pretty decent! My only piece of advice would be to keep the afterburner away from the sun - or use an image without a sun in it. The afterburner turns to white against teh sun and you cant really see it. Its better to have a darker image so you can see the afterburner (if thats what youre going for).
Awesome. Been waiting for this
infernojo3117 Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment!
thanks for your great work :)
Thanks for a great tutorial , But I`m having a problem with the finished render , there is no animation on the afterburner. I think its because you use the first comp to drop into the final element comp , Instead of the Second comp with the animation . Sorry if I sound thick but I just cant work out what is wrong ...
ابداع.. واصل.. ☺☺☺☺☺
MOATH AL-SHIBLI any chance you can translate that into English?
IndependentVFX ok... but next video
hi bro that's awesome. I have not seen anything like it before. it is realistic but I have question dude. could i use 3ds max instead of element 3d. also which version of Adobe After Effects you used in this tutorial . one more thing please continue don't stop.
Good technic bro. Waiting new sharing.
Erdem Yalçın Thank you for the comment

Thanks!
i cant attach into a fighter. can u make a tut to help me?
FU* amazing
I have a question. Could you PLLLLLLEASE do a tutorial on how to make a null group set to the blinking lights on the aircraft??? I'm begging lol
In Element there is a function for "create group null" - it generates a null that will allow you to control your 3d object. Do that first.... then there is another function that allows you to generate a 3d position by clicking on a point on your model in the composition viewer. Do that for the light and generate the new position null. Then take your blinking light artwork layer and copy paste the nulls position data into it - then parent this artwork layer to the main group null. That should do it
Wow, okay lol. Lmao do you have any tutorials on that? Sorry, still learning everything lol
Where did you get the background image?
Its a still I shot myself - check out this video for more on that: czcams.com/video/xri4kfxnjwk/video.html
Can you Create a Tutorial on Shooting a Rocket Launcher RPG in Future ? here is no such tutorial in CZcams .
sabghat haqdost Thanks! i would love to do one of those.... I will add it to the list and it will get done one day!
Do you only do tutorials in after effects? Because some dont have 30 dollars to pay monthly.
Hi Jay, at this stage yes - only After Effects. But if I were you I would check out a great free app called Hitfilm. I think a lot of these techniques might translate quite well to that app
@@IndependentVFX thanks for the advice. does jetstrike work for other programs
No, Jet Strike only works in Element 3D which is an After Effects plugin
@@IndependentVFX well that sucks but thx
hmmm.... this looks great... but it seems that 3d layers dont support blending modes in CC 2019. any thoughts would be very helpful, but im gonna have to downvote since this method doesnt seem effective now. i look forward to your response
*** EDIT *** : 3D layers only have blending modes when using the Classic 3D renderer. Make sure you don't have Cinema4D selected and you're good to go!
I havnt noticed that problem... but Im actually still running 2018. I would contact Adobe about this if I were you. If you are a cloud subscriber then you can still install 2018 until the issue is resolved. No need for the the downvote threat... honestly?
@@IndependentVFX it wasn't a threat! It's a great tutorial, but doesn't work as advertised. No offense, it's nothing personal. At least I had the balls to leave constructive comments...
@@MileHighClubTV Well I guess the video is dated 2014, but I think your issue is with Adobe - you should definitely contact them about this
@@IndependentVFX I owe you an apology, I was up all night trying to fix the 3D layer blending modes.. It turns out, I still had Cinema4D as my 3D renderer from my last project.
Once I changed back to the classic 3D renderer all was good to go!
@@IndependentVFX I didn't mean to be rude, sorry if it came across that way. I love the tutorial, and I liked and subscribed!
Thank you for replying to my message, I don't think I would've kept trying to get it to work!
Shock diamonds!
What are doing at 12:04??
Raboleg I just reset the rotation of the afterburner and cut that part out to save time on the video
very good tutorial but omg it's "command" instead of control, not "Apple". Also you would say 'if you're using a mac', not 'using an apple'.
Tomato, Tomatoe.... out of interest Tara - what made you watch one my tutorials? I checked out your channel, very cool stuff but I wouldnt have thought youd be into VFX tutorials? Thanks for the comment though.
bon tuto meme s'est en anglais:D
Ha Ha. The Wiggler......
BRUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yes finally a good afterburner tutorial, thank you for your amazing videos!
