    Honestly so much can be done with good comping. This style of VFX has always reminded me of the type of kitbashing done creating physical effects on old movies like Star wars.

    Damn, it feels good to be reminded of how successful your shot can look just by brute forcing your way through a comp, kit-bashing style! Since learning 3D, unreal, etc I think I've gotten a bit lost in the weeds...this was an important reminder for me of how fun and effective this type of compositing is. Thanks so much!!! 🖤🖤

    Incredible how my brain always over complicates things. The entire scene (except the ship) is just pictures! I thought for sure that building was just a 3d model. LOVE IT!

FilmRiot recreated other movies before. I'd say it's just a coincidence they used the same scene. Both used completely different techniques. Stealing content ideas happens but in this case I highly doubt it!

    Dude Ryan that is so cool! The recreation looks so good! Great tips for all kinds of Sci fi and fantasy films. I love that it can be done in AE, aside from the element 3D part. A lot of tutorials require a lot of stock assets or extra plug ins.

    As someone who studies VFX and wants to focus on compositing, i know that most film and tv shows especially at higher levels like kenobi are made in nuke, but this just shows that even without the same workflow and software one can still achieve a quite similar result if he knows what he is doing. I am currently working on my showreel and every shot i comp in nuke since thats what i learned for, but i see a lot of more commercial oriented companies who search for 3d artists and compositors that are good with after effects and so i am now also trying to learn after effects to be prepaired for applying everywhere. This video helped me motivating to put more time into after effects since it can be used to do the same things as in nuke, just in a different way!

It is absolutely impressive how you have been able to recreate such an impressive scene in such an easy way, starting from basic concepts and above all using ingenuity and imagination (I loved using real images of columns) with a Hollywood level. This type of tutorial blows my mind, because the result is completely impressive and you do it in a very simple way and with programs like After Effects. Please more tutorials like this!     I’m starting to get into after effects but in the beginning everything in my Projects was Premiere Pro and Audition it’s cool to see y’all make a 2D building in after affects caused when I started out I would do the same for a lot of things but I was worried it would suck but y’all just made that look spectacular I must say Film Riot never fails to impress every time!!!

    An incredible recreation of a scene I was sure had to have been done in full 3D entirely. The VFX Artists on the show probably had to do it in 3D tho, considering how often Directors want different versions of a shot, so if they got the call to change the camera position it would have been a pretty big hassle redoing all that 2D comping
