      +Brian Hinder Cheers Brian, I really enjoy the watch and on the Hirsch even more. I had someone writing to me a few months ago that told me that he couldn't keep any mechanical watches because he is a mountainbiker and everytime something happened with the movement after a few tours on his bike...logically from all the continuous shocks.

    • @GuideauxPelagos
      @GuideauxPelagos  Před 6 lety

      It has suprised me beyond belief... a great and strong watch with a quartz movement that is (like a GS) less than 5 seconds off in a year! No lume but with just 1 ray of moon or sunlight you can tell the time. Classy...just the 21mm lugwidth is a bit weird...but a 22mm strap fits fine. I love my trusty Conquest. Longines has much longer history than Rolex and should get more credit for what they produce.

I really like the sunray effect on the silver dial. Please note that this is my first silver dial watch so perhaps that may also be a reason for my preference!

    I understand your point, you have a great piece of horology in your hands, Longines is an excellent brand in quality and Swiss tradition, I understand that you prefer the quartz movement since it gives you less complications in the long term, that is, it will never need maintenance, I respect a lot that but I definitely prefer a mechanical movement call me a fool, but a mechanical movement will last a lifetime therefore I will be able to inherit it from a member of my family I don't know but I am more traditional, as for this piece it is a marvel good construction and 30 Bar of resistance because you can not ask for more, the screw-on crown for greater impermeability is a great piece, I know because I have a Longines Conquest automatic 41 mm and I love my watch.

    Good vid. Got the same model nearly bought the Hydro version though, but got other diver's and the wife suggested to get something more suitable to wear with a suit, and this is a beaut of a watch. I agree with you about the strap looking at it with a Nato on your vid and it does look good - way to go I think.It is a strange one its sold as a sports watch, yet no lume and they make it waterproof to 300m very odd. If they had given it lume would have been a good cheap Rolex Explorer alternative...

    • @GuideauxPelagos
      @GuideauxPelagos  Před 8 lety

      +JPW Photographic Studio Yes I also frown why they call it a sports watch. Silver dial, not too many numenrals. 300m water resistance is just awesome for a watch and imo any daily wearer should have a wr300m. It is currently my only quartz watch and I love it. Very good to read the time in low light conditions due to the silver hands. Overall a great watch and a perfect beater in a collection.

    • @DutchBulldog
      @DutchBulldog Před 4 lety +2

      I tried both watches in at my local AD last month. For your reference: my wrists are 6.25 inches. I found the 41mm automatic too wear slightly too large for my wrist. The 39mm fits me perfectly. I would say this watch wear slightly larger than the diameter suggests. So the 39mm wears more like a 40mm, while the 41mm wears more like a 42mm. Go with whatever size you like (I don’t think the 39mm would look small on a 7.25 inch wrist).

    Such a nice timepiece!!! Im interested in getting one, but i'm concerned if it wears too big on the wrist. I just have seen this watch on videos and images and I gotta say that for a 41mm it looks kinda big, I have a 7 inch wrist and I own some smaller watches, my biggest watch is probably a Hamilton seaview 40mm (I like that size) but as I said for what I have seen my concern is that it wears/look too big on the wrist.

    • @GuideauxPelagos
      @GuideauxPelagos  Před 6 lety +2

      Watches can not really be too big for the wrist at all imo... as long as the case hugs the wrist it isn't a big deal if the watch looks a bit bigger. Anno 2018 that is fine. I rather wear a 48mm watch than a 34mm... it comes down to preference by the wearer.... as long as the watch doesn't go "dancing" around the wrist it is ok. I have a 7inch wrist and it wears wonderful. The only thing is the lug to lug...which is 21mm meaning you will less options changing straps...however I wear mine on a 22mm alligator strap and I prefer it to a 21mm because it makes the strap a bit tougher... Anyway...just go into a jeweler and ask if you can try it on. It is a great watch! Don't listen to the people talking wrist size etc...if it fits you well...get it...it is the most accurate watch I own. (It only takes a new battery every 1,5 to 2 yrs though).

    • @MSM4U2POM
      @MSM4U2POM Před 5 lety

      I don't think you'll have any trouble. I'm not a big bloke, and it looks fine on me. Having said that, my wrists are 20cm, so that may be the reason. Conversely, I thought a 23x30mm Cartier Tank would look ridiculously small, but it doesn't. There's only one way to find out, and that's to try it. If _you_ like it, then that's all that matters. Good luck.

    Please post a strap link so I will try to get that strap. Thanks.

    • @GuideauxPelagos
      @GuideauxPelagos  Před 5 lety

      The strap is a Chritoher Ward (Bader Buckled) alligator strap that I got in a 50% sale at their website.
      I also had it on a light brown ostritch strap which also is gorgeous.
      At the moment I have it on a mesh (see collection 2018) and I think it looks best on that.
      I ordered it on Alibaba for 25 usd and it certainly is a wonderful bracelet for the watch. Mine is 21mm lugs so I was happy to find the right size. When it comes to leather straps though one can just use a 22mm strap (with 21mm pins) and squeeze that in...the strap in this video is also 22mm. (it actually seems to sit better than a 21mm...but that is personal).

    • @MSM4U2POM
      @MSM4U2POM Před 5 lety

      This may sound a strange question, but bear with me: how long have you worn it for? If you've only had it a couple of weeks, then swap the bracelet for something else for a while, and then try again. I know it sounds absurd, but that's exactly what I did, and when I put the original bracelet back on, it was perfect. My doctor explained that our wrists can swell slightly from time to time, and this could be why you're finding it uncomfortable. It may work and it may not, but it's worth a go. Hope that helps.
