Yang; the A is like the A in father, not the A in bang. NG as the the single sound from the back of the throat as in SINGER, not the separate N and G as in LINGER.
Hee; yeah, the English word HE is about right.
Eun; this is the hard one; this is a vowel sound that does not exist in English so we don't have a separate letter for it so it is NOT a separate E and U, it is not OO as in it is a whole 'nuther sound. Picture how you hold your teeth and lips when you say "EE" - teeth touching, lips tensed, flat, and a bit parted. Hold that position and say "OO"
Now, say it as a single word or put a space between Yang and HeeEun. Both are acceptable. Don't stress any syllable or letter, don't change your pitch, just let it flow in one breath.
Tymee 타이미 is three syllables
Ta Again, the A is the A of father
Ee Just that, about the same E as in BE... Pay attention to yourself when you say EYE. You will notice that you start with AH and close your mouth until you are saying EE. Korean does not have that blended sound so they say AH then EE
Me as in "me - a name - I call myself"
So, Ta Ee Me. Again, a single word, no stress, no pitch. BUT! As an English speaker, you can say it as two syllables, Tie Me. Still one word and Koreans with find the accent cute and charming. But in this case, make double sure you don't put a space there! Saying "tie me" is gonna make you sound kinda creepy!!
Kim Gyuri 김규리
Kim; The K is an unaspirated K or an unvoiced G. Less air and softer. The I midway between the I in IT and the E in BE. So soften it down a bit from Kim like Western name.
Gyu; again, the unaspirated K or unvoiced G. YU is about like YOU
Ri; The R is not quite an R, not quite an L. Same sound as those letters but a different tongue position. But if you use the R sound, just soften it a bit you will just have a cute, charming accent. And the I is EE.
Again, say as a single word, no stress, no pitch changes.
English is spoken like a song but Korean is a different song. Sung to the patterns of English it is heavy, awkward, and unnatural. Sung to the proper rhythm - ah, it is subtle and elegant. Oh, the reason I included the Hangul letters for each name is so that you can stick it into Google Translate. Select Detect Language, paste in the Hangul, and hit the listen button. You will hear a native Korean speaker say the names.
