Both of them were so close that, while jamming, they knew exactly what the other was thinking and was going. Gilmour described his relation with him as a old couple's marriage in a BBC docu.
A part of him - humanly and musically - was forever gone when Rick died.

@@kaloyandarlyanov4421 no it won't. Only Rick could do it justice and Dave recognizes this, obviously. On a side note, i saw Roger Waters' The Wall concert years ago and while his band was great, it was obvious that his guitarist could not match Dave's touch and feel, so one of a kind. There are some musicians who just cannot be replaced/emulated. Richard Wright is among those. RIP Rick, the true Floyd fans still miss him to this day

Exactly my thoughts. It's not just that "Us and Them" was Floyd's best song, more music (not lyrics) from The Dark Side of the Moon and the very beginning and end of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and therefore the Wish You Were Here album makes Richard Wright responsible for writing the best of Floyd's music and the lion's share of the music on Pink Floyd's best two albums too. Anyone who disagrees is brainwashed by the fact he was the most under credited person musician in the supergroups of the '70s.

Paolo Rick really had a Beautiful Voice also, and you can really hear that on much of the Earlier Floyd Stuff!! Rick was just such a Laid Back and Humble Man, that he was easy to take advantage of, by certain kind of people with Big Egos!! And therefore Rick also never really got near the Credit that he Deserved for the Beautiful Music that he Wrote, Played, and Sang!! Take a Listen to the song "STAY" from earlier years, Beautiful Music and Beautifully Sung by Richard!! One of my Favorite Pink Floyd Songs for Many Years now, many years I've loved that song!! David Gilmour is so British that he didn't weap, but you could see the sadness in his eyes and you could listen to the tears in his words when he remembered his old pow and collegue. This video creates the same feeling that "The Great Gig in the Sky " on me, a heartbreaking feeling.

I have heard this speech so many times and I cannot fault this. David Gilmour is a very true friend to Richard Wright and 40 odd years working together coming to a no more. No words can describe this and David Gilmour does it so splendid even getting choked up at the end sheer devastation. Richard Wright wherever you are, the loyal fans and band members all join together as one and blasting out all songs of Pink Floyd. Gone but never forgotten.

I don't know when it started, but theres a long time that i don't drop a tear. Lot of bad things happened, but i kept strong. But this was so much for me. In the end when he stammered... oh, a tear came to my eye. Let's just celebrate Richard's music and person. Long live to David Gilmour, my hero!

Gilmour, a man who I see as very determined and strong showing his grief in this is very comforting to see. Rick, indeed, was such a vital but easily overlooked part of the band. What an incredible artist he was though.

Richard Wright was such a humble man. You can hear that in the few interviews he gave. In the same manner, David & Richard were great friends and collaborators who both claimed during the creation process "we read each others minds". His work is is legacy, and his legacy is ageless!
RIP Richard! We miss you too!

    "Grazie tante, molto gentili.
Comunque, come ho detto, lui merita questo premio esattamente quanto me… Grazie."

What a moving tribute. Made me get all mushy. It is so true that Richard's keyboards, vocals, and writing were a major part of the overall Floyd sound as well as the later collaborations with David. His keyboards were the beautiful canvas on which Gilmour and the other folks could paint their musical masterpieces.
