    I prefer a long bolt that can screw in, then use a grinder to grind the hex head to a point, once screwed in it doesnt even need epoxy and cuts the cost to about 14$

      Solid! Though I have no idea how to use or grinder or have one haha

      @Bill Johnson what do you mean? Its been a while so the exact type i used i dont recall off the top of my head but the bolts were 8-10 inches if memory serves and about 6 of it would screw in if using a ratchet to apply pressure. The handles i prefer have the metal guard at the bottom and arent threaded on the inside. My training partner used tent spikes and epoxy but my spears lasted way longer and had less fixing of bent tips required

    You could also wrap the spike in electrical tape and friction fit it into a dowel with a hole drilled into it

      Jared Clark they're super easy to do and even cheaper if you buy the items in bulk! Can get them down to $10 a spear

      Practice practice practice. One of the easiest obstacles to make and do at home

    How high off the ground should the hay targets be? Also, I bought all the stuff to make it but I don’t think the 10 inch nail is sharp enough to penetrate the hay target. Should I sharpen it?

    Also, what do you use to throw the spear into like for practice?

      I'm honestly not sure. It's just the standard rake handle and spike at home depot

    If you buy an asphalt rake, all you need to do is cut the rake off and sharpen the metal tang

    Where do u get the target material?

    • @obstacleactivist9741
      @obstacleactivist9741  Před 5 lety +1

      Hay bails you can find at most home improvement stores or local farmers. Archery targets also work well and are what is used for a stadium race

      Hay bales were what we used but we got the industrial size rolls of plastic wrap and wrapped the hay bales to keep them together then just added more layers once they got beat up to be able to constantly reuse for cheap
