VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE: This method no longer works. There is no longer 'unlimited' max drag anymore. Instead, you can tighten your drag to the max, but it will greatly decrease the durability of your reel over time.
Should've watched this one a while ago lol. Kept breaking my spinning rod setup on particularly large walleye at Emerald. Watched this, made some tweaks to my spinning rod setup, and (to help cement the concept) the first cast out with the new setup snagged a trophy walleye and didn't lose a percent of durability. Thanks BZ.
OMG. Been playing for a couple of months, now at level 35, and never had Max Drag figured out. Where were you all the time? Only kidding. I wish I watched this video #1 before any others. Thanks so much. Now back to my rod setups and make some major improvements, thanks to you.
Absolutely well done! Max drag is one of the most handy skills to learn in this game, you always want to use your setups to their full potential! Very well explained and easy to understand!
Hello! Great video and thanks for helping a rookie fisherman understand how things actually work in this amazing game! I have 2 Questions though: 1.if I understand correctly the only negative with using a max drag setup is that the reel is gonna wear out faster, correct? Does the repair cost a lot or for what reason would you ever choose to go with a Balanced setup instead? 2. In your "Ultimate Rod Guide" you mention that the leader for feeder rods should be slightly lesser then the lines strength to not lose the feeder cage/sinker if it would break, but here you instead use a stronger leader. Is the stronger leader Needed for max drag or is it worth running with a lesser one to save the feeder cage/sinker? Once again, thank you so much for all the help I have recieved from your videos!
i started back playing again few days ago but forgot how to do MG, made it to st croix lvl 34 and had about 200K so instead of going for sturgeon i decided to stay for pike for a few days so i got some upgraded sets to last awhile 19.5 rod 19 reel 20 line and 22.2 leader for my first max drag thanks for the reminder,
geat insight to tackle build,i am using braid 61.5 lbs rod 59.5 lbs reel 58.4 lbs needind a titanium leaer will it be the 69lbs or the 55lbs thats the clest two for casing lures
Definitely a great guide for max drag. I do have a few questions. Why casting rods over spinning rods? The recovery on spinning reels is so much better. Also is there a trick to not have a unique run from like 50ft to 150ft, aside from using a rdo/reel combo that really overpowers the fish?
Unfortunately at this point it doesn’t seem so. We may get that with the new fishing mechanic talked about in their latest news bit with the ocean stuff, but for now, just finding a good balance in power. No reason spinning vs. baitcasting, just kind of depends on what you are able to get at the level you are which is best for you
1 last question and I will stop pestering you. Do you have a Vid on how the spawn rates work? I read it's like 30mins from the time you step into the spot, and also read it's 30mins from the first fish you catch at a spot.
@@danielmeyers9083 eh, the only time I worry too much about spawn rate is when I’m fishing a spot and I’m not getting any bites. At that point I’ll skip ahead an hour or two and keep fishing, the bites will come back
Heyy Boo~ is Max Drag setup still can be use at now?? I'll try build max drag setup but it can't use max drag as well... the setup I buiild : La Cazadora 230 (33kg), Torbelino 1100 (32kg), Mono 0.8mm (33.2kg), flouro leader 0.85 (36kg) is that I made mistakes on my max drag build? should I change the line to braid?? ahh btw my fish target is 72-80kg (unique redtail/gilded catfish) ^ ^ I hope u can help me....
What about if all three are the same weight? Or does it have to be line, rod, reel? I've a 26.5kg rod and could get a 26.5kg reel. Would that be ok or better to go with the next lowest 25.5kg reel?
I have a question, does the leader have to be stronger than the line or is it okay if it's stronger than the rod and reel but not the line? Because a lot of the times the leaders are weaker than the lines you can get and it's just driving me nuts, max drag numbers are all over the place and it's hard to match things up perfectly.
bro is this why my leader keeps breaking in max drag ? please respond bro i’m going to tweak if it breaks one more time . When it hits max tension my line breaks or whatever idk what the problem is.
So im trying to adjust my drag so my character will hopefully reel in line again, but this video doesnt show me how to set the drag i still duno how..should i give up on this game? Ive spent more time troubleshooting and ive barely gotten to play at this point it doesnt seem fun
Yea never figured that one out cause i never got to that point, i tried googling it a few times but never learned how to set the drag on ps4. i made it to level 15 and emerald lake a few times but ultimately i dont see myself being able to enjoy this type of game so i uninstalled it
This exploit no long works (kinda) reel can now break if max drag is achieved, allthough you do have SOME time before it does. Just go slightly Under max drag. Preferably by having a reel that is just a little 0.5kg or so less powerfull then the Line : So 20Kg Rod 20KG reel (or 19.5 or so) and 19.4 line. This ofren does not work, but get as close as possible to get the most utility out of your gear. your leader can be heavier. Even several times as heavy, as long as you dont have a reel that is heavyier thats fine. If your reel IS heavier you put drag 1 pip down and bob's your uncle.
VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE: This method no longer works. There is no longer 'unlimited' max drag anymore. Instead, you can tighten your drag to the max, but it will greatly decrease the durability of your reel over time.
Bugger just spent loads and was mad it didn't work then went into comments 😕
@@upduckie9643 yeah, still not a bad setup, and you can still max your drag with this, just not as much. I’ll need to make a replacement video soon
Oh man. That would have been nice to know before I dropped $12k on a trout setup.
Oh well.
@@YodaWasSith it’ll still work, just don’t use max drag unless you’re really struggling with a fish
@@BoAngles You're right, it's still the ideal set up, just can't lock the drag down (which is realistic)
I’ve been playing again. So dang addicting. Ran the premium for the weekend and did some grinding. Will need to do that again

You rock Bo! Keep bringing us great Fishing Planet videos and thank you!
Very helpful! Level 38 now and have been doing this wrong until now and never could get Max Drag. Will definitely tweak my set ups over the weekend!
As a basic pan fisherman myself who is casual in real life. I never really understood drag completely, and this video is very intuitive.
Loving these tutorials buddy, they'll give you a monopoly on Fishing planet content lol
Haha! Don’t tell away my master plan! 😜

Can’t wait for the Amazon vids if the future when you level up and get there

Omg this vid was a big help for my drag cuz i didnt know this. Thanks bz
what would happen if the rod and reel had the same lbs
Can you do a video on the Congo river? Really struggling with the big Nile perch
We've got many videos on the Congo river, I'd recommend checking them out and moving through the video until I'm fishing for them! :)
very helpful, thx bro
i have got to try this i have been a fool, going rod++ reel+ line and leader-
I've been doing the same but I'll try this way
me too, I'm afraid too strong line gonna break the rod mid fight or smt

Gotcha thanks. The pull in method should work for all fish, if the got it to work right. Though it may cause a lot more stress on the rod and line.

Do the baitcasting reel make the zhing noise when you throw it?
3:24 I thought leaders had to be weaker than the line so they snap before the line, is that right or different for max drag?
No you’re right- they can be weaker than the main line, but still need to be stronger than the reel and rod

Edit- Drag setting is left right on dpad on ps4 and it is represented by the segmented circle to can see in the lower right hand corner
Bo, sell insurance on people's gear. 1 baitcoin for a rod, 1 baitcoin for a reel and 1 baitcoin for lines with leaders! You'll be rich!
Rod++ reel+ and line stronger than the other two, is that right?
Wow
ive spent more time on tuts than actually playing this game. Menus and troubleshooting planet more it in “fishing planet” part is secondary
I’m not sure what tuts are

the leader is the weakest link for me and its annoying... line , rod and reel all balance around 55..leader 41.. suckss
Cant find what reel to use for thora 9' 6"
