  • While applying the gel I gently pushed the pane back and forth with my finger trying to work the liquid into the crack with little success. I also put the nozzle right on the crack and tried to use the pressure of squirting the liquid to penetrate into the crack, also with little success.

I wonder if using a dremmel to cut a v groove in the crack would be helpful to get more surface area upon which the epoxy can bind

Hindsight is 20/20, right? Fortunately for me my window is single pane, old, and the crack is in a low corner. Here is my plan based on your experience:
I will try using the same product but, first remove my sash and lay it flat on a saw horse. Second, cover both sides of the crack with Frog Tape to limit runoff. Third, use my Exact-O-Knife to cut through both sides of the Frog Tape to expose only the seem of the crack. Four, from above, drizzle the fluid onto the crack and and, from underneath, draw it through the exposed crack using my wet/dry vac . Five, cover it with the cure tape.
Lastly, if necessary, use a heat gun on lowest setting to help cure the finished application.
I'll let you know how it works!
    Thanks for the video tips.

Why go through all of that when you can have the hardware store cut you a piece of glass for $10?

It's possible that's from temperature deference between inside and out but that's less likely on dual pane windows.

    • @sethdrak3
      @sethdrak3 Před 2 lety

Other than that I'd suspect the window is flexing somehow.

My window just cracked and my landlord said use tape for now. Its triple digits over here in California so the window cracked. Will this work or tape is better?

My guess is it's flawed glass from the factory. My window did the same, but it happened 30 years after it was installed. It's an Anderson Bay Window, and after 30 years there's no way to find a factory sealed glass section to replace it with, and I don't have the funds to spend thousands of dollars to replace with a new bay window.

Can a really old glass window broke from temperature change if it already have crack in it but stayed like that for years and not spread?

I think it can, Since car windows fully break in the freezing temperature changes when there are cracks in it..

    I know what happened...
It was replaced in a hole too small..
or, too many shims to make it tight.
    Or,
Used foam, and it made it too tight
Or... It got hit before installing.. and it chipped
Who knows...? It's just broke lol.
At least I know that stuff doesn't work. I can save my dollars.
Best bet... Get a new window.
    Make it level.
