    Do you have a video on how you mounted the Yakima rack?

    Great video and thanks but the locks are useless when you can just unscrew the hinges from the top.

    I am so set with getting Tacoma for my next truck, the first thing I’ll get will be Diamond Back cover!
    LLOD Mike does great job with his Tacoma you might wanna check out his channel.
    ...you mentioned his channel at the end lol sorry I wrote my comment in the middle of your video😖

    Cant fully get into my inside bed mount tool box. Nice if you want to haul stuff on top of that👍

    You’re the first person I’ve seen talk about putting kayaks on the rack mounted on the Diamondback... Can you post a video on how it fits? I’m thinking I’d need a taller rack but maybe you could prove me wrong.

      I actually don’t have the truck anymore unfortunately. It did work, though I added 2 conduit pipe bunks to extend off the rear of the truck for our 12ft kayak.

    Just found your videos. I’m also in Charlottesville and just getting started in kayak fishing. Your Hobie videos have been very helpful. Buying something soon.

    Good review. I’m a LLOD subscriber, and this cover has been on my list. I’m glad you reviewed the SE. It costs me money to watch CZcams - always cool stuff to buy! 😁

      Thank you! LLOD is also who sold me on the diamondback bedcover haha. I recently sold my Tacoma and moved up to a Tundra. I am planning on getting the DiamondBack HD for that, once I'm able to sell the one from the Tacoma. I plan on doing a video on that one as well.

      @@BlueSummitOutdoors Cool, congrats on the new truck. Any reason you're going with the HD this time? I just added the SE to my shopping cart, and was about to pull the trigger, lol!

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před 5 lety

      Just because it's a heavier duty truck and just to future proof just in case I decide to haul ATVs on top. Otherwise I was completely satisfied with the SE.

    Regarding the Yakima racks, are they mainly made of plastic for the mounts? you find that secure enough for a roof top tent?

    how hot is that black aluminum in the sun? (think south)

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před rokem

      I live in VA and travel to TN often (moving there in the near future) I would say it definitely gets hot but nowhere near as hot as the bare aluminum model.

    • @---tx9xx
      @---tx9xx Před rokem

      @@BlueSummitOutdoors Thanks for your reply! What do you mean, though, by the 'bare aluminum model'? Is the diamondback also made just of aluminum no?

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před rokem

      Yea there is a model that does not have a bed Liner spray and is bare aluminum. However both are aluminum one is is just sprayed with bed liner and the other is not.

    • @---tx9xx
      @---tx9xx Před rokem

      @@BlueSummitOutdoors Ah sorry if I wasn't clear I was referring to how hot does the *tonneau cover* get in the sun, not the truck bed. (I purposely got the white and didn't get the bed liner because I figured that black bed spray in liner gets hotter in the sun than the white aluminum )

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před rokem

      Yea I gotcha, the black diamondback is just sprayed with bed liner so it doesn’t get as hot as the one without the liner.

    Where did you get the rear bed rounded seal thing? My SE didn’t come with that...only the thin weather sealing strip. I have a 1 inch-ish gap between the DB cover and the cab side of the bed.

    I have a 17 Tacoma OR and am getting the diamondback cover in the next week. I also go to Cape lookout and was wondering what racks you drilled into the cover and will they be strong enough to support a roof top tent?

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před 5 lety

      It's a Yakima roof rack that I had on my old F150 camper shell so I guess just a standard Yakima roof rack. And yes I have a rooftop tent here's a picture from Instagram of the setup. instagram.com/p/BjPMjssnbsV/

    • @dbstelly
      @dbstelly Před 4 lety

      Diamondback makes a cover with channels for racks so no drill.

  • @---tx9xx
    @---tx9xx Před rokem

    I'm between a cover like this (diamonback or renegade) and a retractable roll-n-lock e/a series, or a full cap/topper. Did you consider a cap at all? My problem is even the hard ones seem less secure against breakin than the diamonback style

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před rokem

      I had a cap on my prior truck. Love the diamondback, I don’t have the Tacoma anymore (upgraded to a Tundra) tried a different solution with that and ultimately went back to the diamondback for my tundra. Still loving it on my tundra. The diamondback gives you a dry bed and a place to strap stuff to on top, and it’s easily removable.

    Hey, man, cool vid. I have the same set up. I was looking to put a rack on mine too. I was wondering if you've had any issues with leaks after drilling into the Diamondback? Is silicone all you did to seal it? Thanks.

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před 6 lety +1

      I haven't had any leaks and yea I used silicone and a washer on the under side that's all I did to seal it. It's still doing great.

  • @alejandrosotopalomares721

    Hi I have the same diamondback in my taco, but when is heavy raining, the interior of the bed get some water, not too much but still. does this happened to you also?

    • @BlueSummitOutdoors
      @BlueSummitOutdoors  Před 6 lety +3

      Yea I noticed it at first. I took some silicone, and applied it to the front two corners next to the cab. Which is where I thought is was coming from. Now I might get a few drops on the inside but most of the time it's bone dry.
