- Angie Dickinson's film and TV career has been a half-century-long master class in the art of seduction. Mo Rocca talked with the star of the '70s hit "Police Woman," and such classic films as "Rio Bravo" and "Dressed to Kill," about becoming an inspiration for aspiring policewomen, her relationships with such stars as Frank Sinatra and Burt Bacharach, and the #MeToo movement. When asked by Johnny Carson if she dressed for women or for men her response was " I dress for women, I undress for men." Johnny's jaw dropped to the floor. I'll never forget seeing her on the show that night. One of the best lines I ever heard delivered. She was beautiful and a great actor.
She is beautiful. What a woman!
I loved police woman.
So very true.😏
I think he NAILED her.
There was a LOT of flirting going on between those two!
90 years old now, and STILL looks fantastic!! She's outlived most of her co-stars, and is still lively, although not acting anymore. God Bless this lady!
So agree. She is and has been a natural, graceful beauty through all stages of her life. Geez, would love to age as gracefully as she has...want to look like she does now when I'm 60!
Man she’s 90 wow. Back in day smoking hot
She's such goals for us fifty-somethings!
God bless? Has she lived her life according to God's rules?
@@jimjoe9945 Why is a Jesus Freak even watching videos about this sexpot of her era? Hmm?
What a woman,such class.
They don’t make them like that any more.
Actresses nowadays could learn a lot of lessons from Angie. Her common sense and honesty ... her thoughtfulness .. her strength. I agree, Angie,, I hope you never die.
Sadly actresses today wouldn't be smart enough to pick up on what she has!
Liked her as an actress
@@cynthiadavid5282 Hello Dear, How are you?
Besides her beauty, she’s brainy, honest and very real. She took care of lots of people. Loved the interview.
If getting hired depends on whether or not a woman falls to her knees and opens her mouth when her potential employer opens his robe then certainly a despicable and illegal act has occurred. To characterize such behavior as "men misbehaving" does a grave disservice to the brave women who have come forward at risk of destroying their careers by many labeled "difficult" by men in power. The interviewer should have asked follow-up questions because Ms Dickenson has also been quoted as saying that she felt exploited by the inclusion of so many unnecessary shower scenes in Police Woman.
@@virginiamorrow4097 I agree. That was a missed opportunity. I've lost respect for this actress for refusing to support other brave women who've spoken out.
Did she "take care" of Johnny Carson?
@@lifesabeach3424 I know I care less!
'She took care of lots of people',lol.

She possess the one thing truly lacking in today's society: class.
Are you joking? What a sucker!

Classy from day one!!!!!
Ain't that the truth!
She's beautiful now, but wow, I've forgotten how stunning she was. Her bone structure and skin are flawless... The face to launch a thousand ships.
They don't make them like this anymore … Your a class act Angie
At 87, she is still a very attractive lady and speaks her truth.
the truth is beautiful shes pretty inside
Catherine Bell I so agree! What a fine honest, unpretentious, human being Angie Dickinson is.
I left out clever and warm.
Omg she looks phenomenal nowhere near 87
Such authenticity. Beautiful.
I have always loved Angie Dickinson. Such a solid foundation, she is and was always confident, practical, down to earth. Love her!
Always loved her.Shes a rebel..
Bert was not nice to her. Loved her in anything.
So humble and aged naturally. All the best for you Angie!
She was and still is such an inspiration to women. She is a rare gem and a very classy lady.
She’s everything!
I don't think she's an inspiration to women at all. I was shocked to hear her say the me too movement has blown everything out of proportion. Other places, she admits to feeling exploited. Her policewoman series was a joke -- the real harassment that women endured on the police force (and still do) was not even mentioned.
@@patricias5122 I have had two women who are in their 70's and 80's be very nonchalant about certain stories about famous men. It's weird to me.

Angie Dickinson a gorgeous lady and wonderful actress. I had never known her daughter had taken her own life, so very sad. At 87 yrs. young, she still speaks her own mind...good for her.
Hello Dear, How are you?
When I first saw her in this interview, I must admit I was shocked by her appearance.
That's bc I'm so used to women in Hollywood at her age still getting plastic surgery and facelifts.
The strength and conviction in Angie to go Au Natural, I applaud her for it !
And she looks better then all of them.
Au Natural ?????
Thank you for making this clear... she's aged beautifully, and who wouldn't want to be compared to her? She's simply an awesome example of a classy woman! 💜
They could have combed her hair
Angie comes from a generation before social media and smart phones; where people were interesting, engaging, and charismatic, and had captivating lives and fascinating stories. I guess we'll never quite see her type ever again. She looks great for her age, and I'm so glad she hasn't been pulled, plumped and paralyzed by plastic surgery and Botox!
Most women did not live the fascinating lives that film stars like Ms Dickensen did. They were either homemakers who rarely had anyone other than the kids to talk to or, if single,
working at low-paying pink ghetto jobs or cleaning houses if poor and uneducated. The good paying jobs were "only men need apply" which is why even brilliant women who managed to get into law school and graduated at the top of their class could only find jobs as legal secretaries. The "open robe" comment is a reference to Harvey Weinstein who is in prison because both the men and women on the jury (who "weren't there" either ) put him there. I don't fault Ms Dickensen for her "an open robe isn't rape" comment even though it disparages the brave actresses who came forward about Harvey W at the risk of being labeled "difficult" which is poison in the film industry, I fault the interviewer who either didn't ask follow-up questions or the editor who edited them out if they were asked
👍💟
She is one of my most favorite actresses ever . Seeing this video makes me realize how beautiful she was and to this day how beautiful she is inside and out ! She always had inner beauty.
So well said!
Agree 100%....totally 👍
Angie is a smart, straight shooting lady, dame, broad. I wish Hollywood had more women like her. It’s easy to respect a
Woman like that.
Those days are over
Tomato. LOL I think she debuted on tv's Heck Ramsey with Richard Boone. (reruns)

Man o man she was blunt but also had commonsense in regards to the men/woman relationship aspect. Can't help but to respect a woman like that.

Right? Now I feel my clock ticking faster towards my 70s.
To health, everyone ... and leg strength!! Cheers, Angie Dickinson!
@@dianavp9054 Leg strength! Yeah! You're speaking my language! Sigh...
I wish Angie was my neighbor so we could hang out. She's one of the biggest influences of my life. She spoke her mind and had a great sense of self in a time when women were very controlled and dominated, in the 60s mostly. She looks fabulous and her wit is extreme. Such a great lady. I hope she's never lonely.
Women were never controlled and dominated. It is just that your kind wanted to take the pants away from men and do their jobs . To be blunt you took their balls away and now look at men today. Now men are getting into women's team sports and all of sudden women are screaming that they don't want men competing with them. Any other time women say they can do anything men can do and there is no difference between men and women. You can't have it both ways bit*ches. Also, I'm a woman and happy to be one.
This is the most open I have seen Angie Dickinson in an interview. And still she hides a lot of mystery. She is and always has been a very intriguing woman.
So true. She has a mystique that you don't see today in actresses. Truly a class act.
Always loved this woman. She still to this day has her wits about her.
And beauty
I remember staying up with my mom & couldnt wait to watch “Police woman” starring Angie Dickensen. I would say to myself “ Oh, this is how to act as a adult? U know, tough & rough around the edges…Love u still Angie, u go girl!
I still remember this exchange on _The Tonight Show_ .
Johnny: Do you dress for men or dress for women?
Angie: I dress for women and I undress for men.
She was always the most pleasant humouous guest on The Tonight Show. I think her and Johnny had a brief thing I saw her signing interviews at a convention in the 90s in LV. She had s huge line, but seemed so involved in talking with her fans.
great!!
JohnnyM Fan: Yes, I read a few times that she and Carson had a fling.
This is a truly honest woman. Every childhood boy had a crush on this beauty. “Open robe is not a rape!” Speaks volumes from a woman with integrity.
Yep, she proved with that statement that she wasn't just another Hollyweird shill, but can think for herself. She observed that the MeToo movement did/does more harm than good for the world just like most initiatives sponsored by the mainstream media and Hollywood elites. Incidentally Rose McGowan who founded the movement to her credit also disowned it when she saw it being corrupted and weaponized. I bet Angie doesn't realize it or maybe she does by her statement when working with John Wayne that she shared more in common with his politics than she did with her parents. I bet she was the best mother her daughter Nikki could've had for her condition, but too bad it ended sadly.
I really like her but truly disagree with her about the me too movement. Millions of women are abused and raped, and what women wear, say a mini skirt, is often used by men (and some women) to justify this cruel and debasing act. It is about power and thank God and country and the men and women who fight against the debasement of women in jobs and at home. Look at what is happening in Afghanistan, where women are bereft of education and have to hide all of their bodies and faces because men cannot control themselves so blame women. Thank God we are better than that, but have a long way to go.
You ain't kiddin'...used to watch Police Woman as a 12 yr old and was beside myself !

Like the way she talks about chemistry between actors without it necessarily turning into an affair and always enjoyed her work. Have a friend who talked to her at a fan event and said she had only good things to say about the actors they discussed. Class+down to earth+beautiful. Wow!
Of all the celebrities I've had people compare me to, Barbara Mandrell, Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton, etc., I was only ever truly flattered when a guy I dated said he thought I looked like Angie. And now, so many years later, I appreciate the compliment even more. Angie Dickinson is an awesome lady.

She was my first female idol. To see a woman doing a so called man's job was incredible! Thank you, Angie Dickinson!
Hello Dear, How are you?
How nice to see Angie. I never thought she was a great actress but she certainly still has charisma and her honesty in this interview is totally refreshing. Such a positive person, especially with losing her only child.
She was honest about her marriages, but not about the casting coach! She's in denial!
@wrench 22 I understand what you are saying! I just wish these stars would stop playing games and tell the truth for once! It's not like she is working or has a movie deal to protect!
fredrika27 I don’t see it so much as being ‘in denial’ but as being discrete about her relationships. She always seemed to be a tough lady who never saw herself as a victim. She dated Frank Sinatra and was one of the few honorary women members of the Rat Pack, along with Shirley MacLaine, so I don’t think anyone would have messed with either of these ladies or Frank might have made a phone call...
@@lindashelley3635 That's my point! If Angie got preferential treatment, then she should admit it. With some of the most notorious abusers in jail or dead, these women should speak up so others who are walking in their footsteps understand who to be careful around and how to conduct themselves. Yes, it isn't her role to be everyone's mentor, but she is an accomplice to the establishment's silence and decades' long abuse. As far as I can see, by being silent, one is allowing the abuse to continue. I lose respect for such people. It's her right as an individual to do what is in her best interest. That said, she shouldn't be upset when people call her on it and say that she is a hypocrite and not a champion of women! The same with Lindsay Wagner. A person is at the top of the food chain and has many good works, but denies the ills which are happening around her! I understand everyone is not a fighter or wants to be in the public eye. However, such inaction continues the cycle of abuse. People in the entertainment industry deserve better!
fredrika27 I understand what you’re saying, but maybe Angie is at an age now where she just wants to live out her days in peace and quiet and not to become embroiled in any modern controversy. After all, whatever may have happened (or not happened) to her personally would have been more than half a century ago, and she may feel that ‘what’s done is done’, that nothing can change it now and so there’s no point in going over ancient history. As an older woman myself, I understand that attitude, though whilst never having been even an aspiring famous actress but just an ordinary ‘mere mortal’ I obviously never had any of those particular ‘casting couch’ experiences. But still, I’m sure many of us now in our 70s and 80s have had embarrassing, or possibly even mortifying, moments in our lives that we would rather forget, and certainly not wish to rehash on the public stage. Angie seems to be a very private lady, and I feel she should be afforded the right to live out her life in quiet and peaceful dignity.
She’s very careful when she speaks. I could learn from her
4thetruth62 Me too! A very smart lady!!!

I met burt and their daughter on Kauai just walking the beach,I called them at home and Angie answered, she was just a regular mom and I'll never forget her wonderful voice.

Angie was everything. Such an icon in every possible level. She was an inspiration. An aspiration.
Once, in Palm Beach while working, someone said Angie Dickinson was in the store, but had walked out onto Worth Ave. I dropped everything and ran to track her down. Once I spotted her and found the courage to speak, she was so delighted that someone recognized her. I immediately gushed in disbelief. I said but you are such a legend and I risked being fired to see you in person. She reached out and with a tear in her eye said I made her day. It was the greatest event I can remember. Yes I notice she was very interesting in het expressing what she believes and not what is popular to believe and makes us think little more what is truly going on with some but not with everyone
No one claimed an open robe is rape. And that's not what the Me Too movement is about. It's about powerful people using their power over a person's career opportunities to get their own sexual needs met--and often also using intimidation tactics to keep their victims from reporting their abuse. And yes, it's been going on for forever, but that doesn't make it okay.

One of my all time favorites. Class, Sexiness, intelligence and a wicked sense of humor! Just a true woman's woman and at the same time one of the boys. She looks great.
She has such a sense of humor about her former sexy self . She knew she was hot but had a sense that it was temporary . It’s the way she talked , moved , was sensual to reach your mind and heart rather than being perfect physically .She has enough class to keep secret secret honoring what was private private . I think everyone meets a person that they could see themselves with if they were single when they are taken . I think Angie feels that way about a lot of the leading men she worked with
87 years old and she still has that glint in her eye she is still a young soul you can see it ,
