- "Luther" follows the cases of a troubled yet brilliant English police detective, John Luther, played by Idris Elba. Separated from his wife, whom he loves passionately, he is torn between an unrelenting approach to solving serial killings and his attempts to rekindle his marriage. Luther is a highly charged emotional man who is not above stretching the law to solve a case or save a life. Alice Morgan, played Ruth Wilson, proves she is equally brilliant by committing the perfect murder of her parents, which challenges Luther as never before. Alice develops a strange fascination for Luther and their continued exchanges and interplay serve as a backdrop for the show.

series 2 is incredible Iris is a brilliant actor he hardly even tries.
No. He has nothing in common with the bad guys.he just has the balls to go for justice. The law is not always just.
Yeah, that was complete nonsense. The entire point of him is to show how stupid and slow the UK justice system is and he'll break them rules BUT a sad indictment of what can happen when you break the rules. Problem for Luther is, is that he knew he was getting involved with someone that killed her parents but couldnt prove it, then before he knows it, she's complete psychopath. And he knows what that would mean for a copper so he digs his heels in and it just keeps getting worse

This show is soooo good🎉. BBC is writing way more deep and complex characters.
It's awesome that it is about a black man and race is never an issue in the show 💜! I also think the police chief is awesome because it's a woman and her character to is a little more complex than stereotypical u.s. police chief.
❤ The BBC also isn't writing their characters with the U.S.'s cliches/stereotype that the u s does. Great job BBC, We love Luther, And Idris Elba is wonderful 🎉❤ And would have been a wonderful James Bond 💖!!!!
