    The Tennessee River is the largest tributary of the Ohio River. It is approximately 652 miles (1,049 km) long and is located in the southeastern United States in the Tennessee Valley. The river was once popularly known as the Cherokee River, among other names, as many of the Cherokee had their territory along its banks, especially in eastern Tennessee and northern Alabama.[2] Its current name is derived from the Cherokee village Tanasi.[5]

    Did you keep any for eating ? I understand as you are always fishing, you cant keep and eat everything you catch. Flathead are one of the all time great tasting fish, with Crappie being the best. A 5lb to 8lb Flathead is hard to beat in the taste department! I live less than a mile from Wilson Lake on the Tennessee River. I was raised in Muscle Shoals Alabama.

    Good fish. Here on the Ohio you have to use heavier reels to accommodate for the flow of the river. Using a 6 ounce sinker with a 6500 will wear the gears out fast. Man the Tennessee river looks great. Good job

    • @johnwilliams2427
      @johnwilliams2427 Před 6 lety

      Flatheads are one fish that you can eat the big ones with no problems. Cut it into the size filets you normally eat. Cut out the darker meat around the spine, and the fatter meat around the belly. That being said I too release almost all of the ones over twenty pounds...because they have earned it, and if they're females will literally lay THOUSANDS of eggs each spawn.
