    My leading strategy:
    _Hypervelocity Gun._ It's the best cost-to-kill combat 'unit' in the game considering it is unblockable, effectively unevadeable, and indestructible, on top of it's all-range shield-penetrating damage.
    It also afford the _pure cheese_ of continuing a battle with a lone corvette pack evading enemies just to keep pop-shooting with the gun.
    It really offsets just how short I am on fleets compared to literally everyone else at the start, which is painfully irritating, and I'm already in Era 3 before I've finished forting and planet-sniping enough to really start fleetbuilding.

    Kashyyk's map is incredibly defensible. A small garrison can hold a significantly superior force at bay.
    Imo its worth the turbolaser investment, the enemy will constantly throw away ground forces as a result.

      @TheGgrrmanning Před 2 lety +14

      Add some artillery, walkers, gunships, and a planetary base shield and you've Kashyyyk turn it into a fortress world the droids will never breakthrough. However despite building my defense like that the game bugs out allowing bombing runs AND orbital bombardments.

    and another suggestion maybe, i dont know if thats within the game mechanics but it would be nice to order your troops to hold their ground and not follow any enemies at all... to clarify, on ground battle: if you were to create the first line of defense and your troops always break it kinda ruins your strategy^^ i am not quite sure how to change it in the xml files, been a while since i last modded something but hopefully you know what i mean :)

    My advice is to take all your units from Kashyyyk to Rothana into 1 battle group, and move all your units in the core into about 2 battlegroups for the core (one of those your going to need merge them with your forces around Kamino to be enough to start taking some of the CIS fortress worlds near Kamino before the AI has enough forces to push out from those worlds)
    For income your going to want to put trade stations on planets that the CIS don't border and for your tax agencies my advice is to put them on Humbarine,Chandrala,Corusuant,Cammas and Alderran but if you take some of the higher income worlds like Mechis,Breental,Telti,Denon,Telos,Thanos (Or if you feel daring enough to put it on Empress Teta which is tottaly worth it for the income but be warned it is a front line world so you might want to get a planetary shield and heavy factory first.)
    Also for defense your going to want to fortify Carida and Empress Teta on ground and for Mon Calamari your going to want to upgrade the Golan station and IMEDIATLY build a HV gun which will make it a lot harder for the AI to take the space over Mon Cal without something like the dreaded Lucerhulk spam but that's only late game so you should be able to hold if you play your cards right. ( I know this sounds crazy cause Mon Cal is completely surrounded by the CIS and the Commerce Guild but from the dreadnaught shipyard you'll get a pretty decent garrison of a few Invincibles and a support fleet which when pared with a station and a HV gun can be pretty hard for the CIS to take with nothing short of at least 2 to 3 Lucerhulks with a supporting fleet)
    In general for defense on ground if you have a planet that borders a CIS world your going to want a planetary shield and either a heavy factory for the Saber garrisons but also if you have enough time you can build some arty or better yet a LAAT on ground which will made defending your planet a hell of a lot better or a barracks cause believe it or not the clones themselves are extremely good and they can be used in a lot of situations other then against the CIS's snail tanks and anything made to pacifically kill infantry and that's not even mentioning the generic jedi which you can build on Coruscant stack really well with the clones for there force heal ability's just try not to send them into battle cause there's not really good at combat.
    Some of your first planets your going to want to take is Telti and Breental for there income, Cato and Deko Nemodia to stop the Trade Federation from trying to take Correlia and Rendili and eventually your main target is after Deko your going to want to take Mimban and Embreline to link up your core worlds with your planets in the outer rim which will not only cut the CIS off but also will allow you to fully reinforce your outer rim forces.
    Also early on this is risky but a really good move is to take all your forces from Kashyyyk to Rothana to go for a early attack on Tattoine so the CIs doesn't have the option to be able to directly attack Kamino without having to go through Rishi which cause there attacking from Boz Pity they should take a while to get there.
    Eventually your going to want to do 2 things which is first snipe Trench on Christophsis and all there starting forces there so they can't use them to reinforce Geonosis (which will also greatly help cause the last thing you want to deal with is the CIS getting a 20% combat bonus from Trench on Geonosis) but this next part is going to require all of your starting Invincibles and about half of your core forces to go to Tattooine and eventually slog it out on Geonosis before the AI reinforces it's 2 fortress worlds of Hypori and Geonosis (I'd highly advice NOT going for Hypori until the CIS either moves it's massive static fleet there or get's integrated into the CIS after the CIS integrate the Techno Union)
    After securing half of the core and the area around Kamino it's your choice whether you want to try and link up with Eriadu and go for Sullust and Sluis Van or try and link up for Mon Cal and go for Pammant and Mintooine to deny the CIS 3 potential dreadnaught shipyards. (the main idea here is to go for all the level 4 shipyard planets to stop the CIS from being able to build there Lucerhulk battleships which at this point they probably are attacking you with fleets from around 2 to freaking 15)

    I find early Republic to be a lot like early New Republic in TR. I felt it was needed to let a bunch of isolated territories fall to the CIS while I secured the Core and built up my infrastructure.
    Which is how I play NR in Thrawn's Revenge. I usually do the same thing, and focus on building up in the south and then taking Hutt Space to connect with Mon Calamari.

    • @NiiRubra
      @NiiRubra Před 3 lety +1

      One cool thing about that, as the mod gets developed, is that the Hutts will actually be a faction someday, and then this strategy you are used to will suddenly become harder, if not impossible, which will require a new approach.

    • @heavyarms55
      @heavyarms55 Před 3 lety

      @@NiiRubra Well as is, I already spend a lot of the early game taking over the Eriadu Authority too. So it will get harder somewhat I am sure, but I still think it will work. The main point is defending around Sullust and Mon Calamari and fighting inward along the outer rim to unite that territory. This usually means letting the NR territory in the Core and northern rim fall.

    What would help with hit and run attacks (which I've done when the AI has stacks of 500+) is the ability to tell the difference between garrison forces and fleet forces. Jumping in and killing a few ships and jumping out won't help if all you kill is garrison ships. Maybe add a 'G' to the garrison ship icons?

    • @CoreyLoses
      @CoreyLoses  Před 3 lety +7

      That would require completely different variants for garrison ships. Adding in a lot of coded variants can lead to problems. You can usually tell pretty easily what's a garrison though- in many cases they're coloured differently and the shipyards tell you what their garrisons are.

      The same could be said for the LAAT/i. Neither the GAR nor the CIS have a dedicated anti-air unit in the mod beside those stationary turrets.
      (The seperatists technically have one in the J-1, it being shown in TCW as being able to bring down anything from LAAT's to Acclamators, but it's already used as artillery in FotR, so that likely won't happen)

      @@philippobitz2592 yea true but LAAT is a lot more balanced

      Even without a dedicated AA unit, almost everything can shoot air units, and clones are very good at it, especially since they have rockets.

      @@CoreyLoses Yeah but the clones get out ranged and it gets very dangerous sending them through the enemy front line just to take out the air unit in the back

      @@CoreyLoses I still say the Republic and CIS should get the Anti-Air tank from battlegrounds and the old AMT from starfighter respectively as mobile AA.
