      @@KeyWestWaterman hey if you’re ever looking for something to do a video on, I’d love to see a video on how the logistics of bluewater spearfishing from a boat. When do we throw our float in, when does the flasher float go in, do we drift with it or keep it tethered to someone/something? When do we chum? How many people in the water, who’s doing what (1 down, 1 up and watching, 3rd doing what?), etc. Line management, etiquette, getting everything back in the boat, etc. I imagine that has a lot to do with just going out with the same people and getting in a rhythm, but the basics to work with would be much appreciated. Thanks for all the knowledge you share buddy!

      @KeyWestWaterman  Před 4 lety +3

      I have shot a Koah reef roller but not the blue water. shot great! not much recoil and a ton of range. I have heard the twin R is an absolute cannon might be on my wish list next go round!

      @KeyWestWaterman  Před 2 lety +1

      that's a hard video to make because everyone needs to try a mask and snorkel out personally, everyones faces are different. guns, fins etc all depend on the conditions depth visibility, bottom structure you are diving! very hard video to make!

      Bajan Fisherman i don’t have a ton of experience with them to be honest. My personal outlook on the whole thing is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I don’t have any issues with range on my current Bluewater guns so I’ve never care to venture out and try the rollers. But who knows i could be missing out on something! @KeyWestWaterman  Před 3 lety

    • @ngirabedechal
      @ngirabedechal Před 3 lety

      @@KeyWestWaterman we got all kinds of fish here. I mostly just dive in the lagoon. Grouper is only open for part of the year and Napoleon fish and bumphead are permanently closed. But we have big snapper, big grouper, big GTs and Spanish mackerel within the reefs. On the dropoffs we have huge dogtooth and some pelagic fish. Wahoo, Mahi, Tuna, and all the common billfish are present here, but there is almost zero Bluewater diving going on here. Palauans just like to reefdive, and we don't know too much about spearing in Bluewater. Of course you can come do a video . You would probably be the first real spearotuber. Palau has only very recently joined the rest of the world with fast internet connection, so that would explain why we are so underrepresented in spearo forums and media, but the diving here is amazing.

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  Před 3 lety

      Oh wow sounds like a definitely have to come! When is the best time of year for bluewater Spearfishing? Big wahoo and dog tooth?

    • @ngirabedechal
      @ngirabedechal Před 3 lety +1

      @@KeyWestWaterman January, February, and March going into April. I would say late Jan/Feb is peak for dogtooth. And wahoo is more general in these months. My info on wahoo might not translate from trollers/handliners to spearfishing. But as I've said, we aren't very savvy about Bluewater spearfishing. But I have seen big dogs in huge numbers in January and February.
