Not to forget that when he was playing for Clermont-Ferrand, the paire of centres was Fofana - Davies. I can tell you that you could hardly do better at that time!!!
@Harry Clamp Davies is the only 13 I’ve ever seen defend tualagi to a point where tualagi is almost ineffective. A tualagi and Davies partnership could be incredible. Shame their both injury prone and wales are in bad form because I don’t think we’ll ever see it

Injuries have blighted his career, but when he's fit he's a joy to watch. And yeah he probably is the best outside centre in the world right now.
All these people saying he is not the best 13 in the world , go away , his defence is outstanding , his strength in attack , defence and he can Ruck much better then many other 13’s his handling is not perfect but nobody’s handling is perfect , just give Jonathan Davies some respect

Newspaper 99 , manu isn’t good enough at defence , he can really use his weight and power in attack but what I have seen of him is that smaller and nippier 13’s who use footwork more are able to out manoeuvre him and just prove that he is not good enough in defence
Great video. For me he is the best at the moment. Consistent, strong, great balance and ball skills, defence, kicking, and good discipline. Scott gibbs one of my favourite ever welsh players, but Davies has more in his locker and all round game. Was missed in 6N

Being a centre is not just about running through people, it's also about great defending and decision making, that's why i'd put Goodhue and Am over Tuilagi.
Tuilagi plays 11-14 in international rugby. May be not a lot wing but a lot at 12 so is not fair considering the other have made all their carrers only at 13. Also there is that Australian guy (forgot the name) who was a best and for me last year was joint 1 with vakataka. He made Davies look average in the game against Wales.
@@joseignaciosalamanca2500 i think Tuilagi actually played one single game at 14 and it was against the abs in 2014, and the men you are talking about is Samu Kerevi, actually at 13 was O'connor but since you said he made davies look average i assume you refer to him, and i also think it's fair to put Tuilagi there since he made his debut 10 years ago at England's international side and he played 98% of his games at 13.

Might be a controversial comparison but Johnathan Davies may be the few best centres the lions have had especially on par with Brian O’Driscoll. Johnathan Davies rarely makes the wrong decisions
He was really up there with the best for a few years. Seems to have peaked now, though I hope i'm wrong... Whenever he got injured he got REALLY injured, unfortunately.

Nobody comes close to Tuilagi on his day, but overall id say Davies is a more consistent performer. Lethal fend on him aswell
tuilagi definitely isn’t as well rounded as davies, there’s not a single weakness to his game

As an Irish man the usual thinking is obviously O'Driscoll was the best... Not for me. Bod at his best and Jonathan Davies was close but I think JD had more xfactor. BOD did it for longer but if I had to pick a fit Davies or O'Driscoll I'd pick JD. I'm with Gatland...and it showed he was right in his selection.

I'd say Radradra is more of a winger than a centre, and I'd still ay Davies is a slightly more complete Centre than Virmini Vacatawa
Aaron Malone he may be more complete but vakatawa has so much more flare and much better attacker hes more powerful defense maybe davies edges it tho
The "problem" with Am in this context is that he is not flashy. He goes about his business, looking bored while he does it, and no one actually seems to see how good he is. I agree with you, Lukhanyo is a complete package but he looks anonymous like Jaques Fourie did - and that just makes him better.
BTW, if Davies was eligible to play for the Boks, I would try find a place for him too.

Has some good highlights but he also has some very quiet games and his hands can be quite poor. Not much of a passer

may seem like he has quiet games but he does so much more on the field than what highlights show. he anchors wales' defence and is easily one of the best backs in world rugby on the defensive end, mixing that with his very strong attacking game makes him in my eyes one of the best centres in the world. his leadership on the pitch is very underrated too as he's one of the more experienced players in the wales and scarlets squad
Nick Starkey he offloads but his distribution is unreliable. I wouldn’t call him a “footballer”. Good D and powerful runner

It just seems that the UK has a massive inferiority complex. There are so many videos claiming this home nation guy or team is the best in the world. Why? During RWC 2019 there was a video claiming that no NZ would make it into the English team and in another that England had "possibly" the best 31 main squad at the tournament. Why all these claims. Surely better to say "one of the best in the world".

@@nigelclats6970 I am not Kiwi! They were bad losers at the 2007 RWC (maybe with justification) but very gracious when they lost at the 2019 one. England were gracious when they lost in 2007 but acted like spoilt brats in 2019.

I think your statement proves my point as it shows that in many instances Home Nations draw attention to some or other "isolated" fact to make themselves feel better rather than look at matters holistically. What the RWC appears to show are the teams with depth ie. the teams that are able to win week-in- and-out over a 2 month period.

wildebest O’Driscoll started two tests for the Lions at 13 - Davies hasn’t played as much rugby as he did and therefore isn’t as worn out, if he overcomes his injury well there’s no reason to say he won’t be involved with the lions

He's not in form or as good as he used to be but hes 33 now so what do you expect but you cant disregard all his past performances for club, wales and the lions
@@benvaughan3392 I stand corrected. He was always to me just a solid player, like Conrad Smith for New Zealand, try rate being only 16 in 87 test isn't amazing. He's not exactly BOD or Umaga or Jouzion or devilliers. He's a good player but for me he is rated higher than he actually is. Though he's a good player no doubt. Very solid defensively just think he could offer more in attack, build wise he's not big enough to have impact crashing nor fast enough to be skinning defenders. He for me is like jack Nowell bad in no areas but no xfactor.

@@MasterApprentist it's not all about how many tries you score you also have to assist and get you're team into good positions for them to score and his tactical kickings pretty good too (apart from that one in 2017). He weighs more than aki and only 6kg less than manu who are both used for crash ball alot but the 12 does more crash balls than the 13 generally anyway. De villers was an inside centre so that's not very comparable. He chased Laumape down in the lions and he's no slouch. And he can accelerate, has a good eye for gaps and get the fend going if you watch games.
Also Nowell is strong, fast, accelerates well and can bump of tacklers easily and I think hes exciting to watch and special with ball in hand.
You're disregarding conrad smith too who is widely regarded as one of the best 13s ever.
Davies has been an amazing 13, he does have strength and a fend to break tackles and he does have speed and acceleration and an all round game, theres a reason why he has started the last 6 lions test matches, now he's getting older he isn't as good. Still the other stuff about conrad stuff being not that good and Nowell having no Xfactor is wrong
I don't know why u (british) are overrated ur player. Vakatawa, Radradra or Am are WAY ahead of him. He's great, but not in competition for the best 13.

@@LeDon3663 Vakatwa poor in defense ? We're not in 2016 guys. Since winter 2019, he's a beast in defense too. I know u guys aren't watching Top 14, but you should. L'Equipe, wich is though with Les Bleus, even said that he's the best 13 in the world.
In my opinion, he's been a bit disappointing during the 6 nations. But in defense, he's been great !
