- Hi everyone! I'm on the final day of my memorial weekend maintenance marathon. I'm planting sunflowers, fertilizing, weeding, and more.

Great watching you plant those seedlings with that screwdriver type tool - deep hole! That's a lot of work!
That’s actually a weeding tool! Our soil is heavy clay and rock so planting anything gives you a workout!
Another windy day at your farm. Have you had many calm days at all? Well, it's bound to give all of your flowers stronger stems!
Very few. Definitely having stronger stems! 😁
Mine are too, Carmen!!! (I’m
in St. Louis) I planted mine out on 3/28 with cover. I had blooms starting 5/28 that are 3.5 to 4 foot sunnies with great blooms.
That’s awesome! I actually like the fact that they’re not super tall. It makes them easier to manage.
@@freshcutflowerfarm I agree. My second succession is much shorter and I’m great with that!!!
Would love to see how you fertilize your garden in detail. What do you use and how often do you fertilize? Loveing all your videos thank you for sharing. 💜
Thank you Tambra! I will definitely do a more in-depth video of fertilizing. Thank you for the suggestion!🙂
I had started branching sunflowers inside (probably too early) but by the time they went in the ground May 5th, they were close to 2' tall. Good news, bad news, like you I'm getting blooms June 1st but 1. the plants aren't very tall and 2. the blooms are small. I'm a home gardener so they're just for me, size doesn't matter, however I agree with you planting them early they will grow but there is definitely a trade off.
I've already started some more to have later this summer. It'll be interesting to see the difference.
I'm anxious to see your harvest and how your flowers all come together.
Thank you Janice! I wanted to hit Mother’s Day with the sunflowers but it was just too cool. If I had covered them to trap in some heat, maybe it would have worked.
Hi! Im in stl and I did put my sunflowers early as well (around late March, early April) with no covers. Theyre now too short and budding
Mine have enough stem length, I just wish they would have bloomed in time for Mother’s Day.
I had Zinnias have multiple buds inside of the main bud!
The cause is RADIATION toxicity!!!
What?! Never heard of such a thing! I’ll have to look that up.
I ordered some dahlias from Midwest Dahlias and haven't gotten them yet. Found out yesterday they have taken their website down and no way of contacting them. I emailed them a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a response. 😠
Oh that’s frustrating! I ordered mine from Longfield Gardens and Sunny Meadows. I’ve ordered from Swan Island too. So far I’ve received great customer service from all of them.
@@freshcutflowerfarm I ordered a few from Longfield and I've gotten those but I'm pretty sure I won't be getting the Midwest ones.
I hate that for you. Hopefully they weren’t hard to find dahlias.
@@freshcutflowerfarm I posted on their FB page and after scrolling their are a lot of people who haven't gotten their orders. One person spent over $1000! I'm surprised they haven't taken the FB page down. I'll just wait til next year to order more.
I have a tripod I can bring to you. This is Mandy
I’m going to try fixing this one because I really like it. 🤞
@@freshcutflowerfarm perfect. If it doesnt hold up holler at me!
