Ah, it looks like I'm here before all of the upset Lectric XP fans.
Yay!! They really do deserve some positive recognition... Here's the very positive review I did for anyone who isn't familiar with the bike: electricbikereview.com/lectric-ebikes/lectric-xp/ thanks for your sense of humor OrdinaryHuman... to me, you're extraordinary!
I'm choosing my first e-bike and the field is vast. Your videos and reviews are immensely helpful. Thanks!
As always, when it's you doing the reviews for EBR, the experience is EXCELLENT! THANK YOU!
I want a tern Vektron with a front suspension and a belt drive. Is there a foldable bike regardless of cost that fits this criteria?
I have enjoyed your comprehensive reviews.
Great review showing all the types, brands, and styles of folding ebikes.
Would love more like this. :)
Guys -
Please stop with the negative comments
Court rides bikes for a LIVING and you argue with him
It makes 0 sense !!!
Love your honest straight forward reviews, I’m leaning toward the Sondors XS, I love the appearance, and tucked away cables, my only concern is the wide frame where the battery is housed, I’ve read comments from riders stating they’ve hit their knees on this wide frame. I don’t believe that’s a game changer because I don’t think I’ll be pedaling aggressively but actually using the peddle assist mode primarily. Thanks again for the great input.
This is off topic (not to do with folding bikes) however I cannot wait to see you’re review of the RadRunner Plus. Also would love to see where you’d rank best bikes for rougher terrain. Thanks for the great videos!
Good review, but I think the best folding bike in the value category is the Rize Bolt X at $1699.
For only a $100 more than the Magnum and less than their Premium, you get a more powerful motor (750 watts vs 500), hydraulic brakes with larger rotors (180mm vs 160mm mechanical), bigger battery (16ah vs 13ah), larger range cassette (11-32 vs 14-28), better derailleur with better trigger shifter (Acera vs Tourney with twist shifter), bigger crank arms (170mm vs 165mm), better pedals (all-aluminum vs plastic), integrated lights instead of needing separate AA batteries. The suspension fork is probably better on the Rize than the Magnum, also. We own two of them and the quality of the bikes are very good as well.
This is excellent feedback, thanks so much Stryford! I haven't reviewed that one yet, but I like what RIZE is doing, and the founder is such a nice guy. Glad to hear that you're happy with yours!
I just have to comment as I've never been lucking enough to be by my computer when a video drops from EBR. I have been desparately searching for a folding bike for over a year now. Hope there's an answer for me in here. Now I'll watch the video LOL.
Watched the video, nothing here for me but a great presentation, well done.
Great list of folding ebikes. There are so many to choose from but for sure the more you spend the more you get.
As a Lectric XP owner I’m not upset to see the XP not make this list, I love the bike but in all honesty if I had an extra $500 laying around I would have gotten the Rad Mini, love that bike as well and the trusted reputation of Rad. Unfortunately for me, I gave up my “Rad”dreams, so my wife could get the Ride1Up 500 ST. Maybe next time 🚲
I'm just fascinated by all the different e-bikes available, regardless of brand. Saw one today that looked like a traditional bike, except for the battery in the rear rack, and the thing was dead silent. I have a RadMini 4 and love it. Even took it on a blue-rated mountain bike trail yesterday, and it did very well.
The sharper angle of attack with the smaller wheels is something I'm mindful of, and that's been about the only drawback. The 11-34 cassette is valuable for cranking up those really steep sections or when trail riding. I'm kind of conflicted right now because I did the controller upgrade, and it's great having over a thousand watts, but the stock controller makes the motor sooo smooth and quiet. More efficient too, so I'll have to decide which way I want to go.
Your videos and reviews are excellent and the quality is amazing. Thank you. I recently bought two Leitner Libelle (Aus) which are very similar to the Magnums.
Looking at the Espin Nesta and would like your thoughts about this bike.
Several of those look good - but - for me & wife the Lectric XP's are the goto choice. We love those! Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad to see that the Rad Mini made your list. I came close to buying one, but opted for the Lectric XP, which I’m very happy with, to save some money. No doubt the Rad Mini is a great bike.
Folding bikes are an under appreciated segment. Great for commuters and travelers as well. Thanks for the vid! 😀
Good for you! I really liked the Lectric XP, it made my shortlist for best folding fat bikes back at the site. It's great to hear that the bike is working well for you, I feel like their team is also really nice and full of energy to support their customers. Here's the full review for the Lectric XP for those who might not have seen it electricbikereview.com/lectric-ebikes/lectric-xp/
Just ordered the sondors fold xs!
Def. check out the Aventon Sinch. I've had mine for about two months. It's fun, has fat tires, and it pretty rugged. Doesn't come with fenders/lights, but they do have good customer service :)!
Finally Blix Vika+ out here getting some recognition!
Oh yeah! They're great. Sometimes I get really focused on specs and features and stuff, but the beauty, the custom motor they made, the matching accessories... great bikes.
We have an early Blix Vika Plus and really enjoy it. It's nice to see that they have upgraded the brakes and a few other features. This is a really nice bike for people who haven't been on a bike for a while. The low step-through frame and smooth throttle make it really easy to get used to. I love just throttling around town. The battery lasts a long time and it just looks really cool.
1:16 "the body is magnesium" ... but I need a bike that won't catch fire when I ride thru flames
Lol, look up "magnesium wheels, nascar disaster"
Lectric XP was my starter bike. I found the folding feature to actually be a pain in the ass. It was even more cumbersome to move around and did not have that many situations when I needed it folded.
Thank you I think this is a very fair list because when it comes to folding e bikes There are lots of cheaply designed models. I agree with your list except for Sondors. I would’ve put Lectric in place of Sondors. Thanks again for the video review.
Hi, this is great reviews you have ! What do you think of the : ET F720 ebike fat tire of Leon cycle?
should give fiido d11 a try, would like to have a review from you
I got a gotrax and I love it
Could you please test the new Surface 604 Twist fat folding bike if or when you get a chance. It's new out this year so I don't know when you could get a hold of one. Thanks
Hi Court!
Lectric XP 2.0 has just been released with great improvements including a front oiled suspension fork. . Could you do a review and add it to your list? Great value, great fun. Great company.
I was actually surprised to see the Magnum make this list in all honesty. I've ridden a Magnum (the spoked version), and have owned a Rad Mini as well as a Lectric XP. I found the Magnum to be the twitchiest of the three bikes, as well as the least comfortable. I never felt quite secure riding it. The Rad is a very smooth ride and had the highest quality, while the XP is a great value proposition. This is a tough category, and you won't please everyone (but I suspect you already know that). I think you did a pretty good job of mixing things up. That Sonders pick was out of left field! PS - Have you ever considered doing a poll for these kinds of lists and let your readers select their Top 5 picks? That might take you off the hook just a little :-). It would be interesting to see a Readers' Top 5 compared to Court's Top 5.
Could you review and compare the Bolton Avenger folding bike compare to others .
Any review on the new Citizen London folding ebike??
There is new coming spin nesta folding.. there's good deal right for black friday.. Hope you give me opinion that. ty ty
uh oh! no Lectric XP! im gonna flip over a table and take cover now!
I am legitimately laughing out loud at some of these comments because I came here directly reply here after responding to TONS of angry comments for my "best affordable" list. Thanks for making my evening with your comment, and here's the full very favorable review for that bike, in case anyone is new to it electricbikereview.com/lectric-ebikes/lectric-xp/
@@ElectricBikeReview I, too, was expecting to see the LECTRIC XP on the list. Thank you for reviewing all these eBikes.
I'm not in the market for an ebike right now, but I think these "best of" videos are great. Keep it up Court!
Hey!! I've missed you, how are things in the Bay Area? Thanks for the props on these videos! Doing my best ;)
@@ElectricBikeReview Things are going well all things 2020 considered. I hope you're doing well. I actually got myself an ariel rider m-class last Christmas and it's been awesome. My wife likes it too, but I'm going to have to get her a bike of her own in good time xD
What about Tern Vektron? It's one of the best folding e-bikes, bosch motor, really well build, premium bike parts etc..
I considered the Tern Vektron, because I own a tern foldable non electric version, my reluctance toward purchasing their ebike is the price, after taxes I’d be looking at a $4000 dollar purchase without a throttle only option, it’s pedal assist only, but it’s a great bike and if you don’t mind the high price or lack of a throttle only option go for it.
Can you do a review on the surface604 Twist?
Hi Court how about the Leitner folding ebike with dual suspension
So the Lectric XP is ok’d news now? I have come really close to pulling the trigger on the XP but two things I don’t like are no suspension and I don’t know why they didn’t do plastic fenders (why does anyone do metal? Heavier, dents, scratches aka rust) Anyway, this list is making me look at some new bikes I hadn’t seen yet.
i would like to see a program that specifically shows Type 2 electric bikes.
Could you please review the SURFACE 604 - TWIST folding electric bike. I was considering purchasing the RadExpand 5. The Surface 604 - Twist is significantly more expensive but to my very inexperienced eye, looks to be made with higher quality parts and materials and may be worth the bigger investment. Thank you.
I am an owner of the Lectric XP step-thru. I got the panniers and the suspension seat post. Delivered it was $1000. Yes it has deal disk brakes, yes the bike weighs a bit, but the power, range, ease of use, integrated lights, click shifter, fat tires, fenders, folding pedals, rear rack, etc. Make it a very high value folding electric. Value=function*quality/price
Please evaluate Fabulous Echo Sport which has a torque sensor. This company has several folding ebikes and prices are reasonable.
I really like the idea of a mid-drive, such as the Vektron Tern, but boy does that add to the $$$.
What about the bagi b10 fat tire folding electric bike
Sir ,Sturdy 20 inchi cycle details video please
you should add rize mini
how is carbo model x ?
Yamee Fat Bear 750s. Full suspension. Hydraulic brakes. 750 watts.
Hey my friend what a bout the clieny e bike folding 350 w 36 v. 8ah battery do that one my friend
Hey my friend you never got to view the clienty electric folding e bike 26 inch 36v 8 ah battery black bike when can you do that thanks friend
I don't seem to be your typical audience.... I'm looking for an ebike which will fit in a small storage space in an RV. I can't find any information on how easily these bikes fold or their final size once folded. I would love you to show the folding bikes folded. I thought that would be important in this category (and are there any bikes in the compact category which store in a small space to compete with folding bikes?). I tried your website and Compare feature and didn't see the information there, either. Thank you for your review of the bike's performance, but it won't matter if I can't take it with me.
Have you tried the ENVO FLEX bikes????
longest stem e folding bike 15kgs or lighter please?
whats the most powerful folder? , im 275 pounds
Do you have electrc mountn bike super foldable you might
Sugest it to. The. Manufacturers. To. Re invent. It
Thank. You. Verry much godbles
Joulvert ebike in lower Manhattan ny...there's a folding ebike called the stealth
Good review but you didn't consider the weight of bike at all. I think the portability is the main criteria for me to pick a right folding ebike.
Fortis 20" 36V 10Ah Fat Tyre Foldable Electric Bike can you look at it .. can you say its good $899 aus
I'm still waiting for your Bagibike review. Designed in Israel....9 level assists...throttle over rides the pedal assist....
What part of Florida are you in now?
Deerfield beach
@@JackinFlorida Dude, there are lots of deer where I am at! Way up in the mountains of Canada, near Kamloops. My girlfriend works in a mine, so I'm up here making these videos and giving her hugs and cooking in the evening. Florida sounds nice!
Nice review, what about the SAMEBIKE20VD
Just a note the Smart Step is now $1,199 not $999 anymore
Aww, dang! I feel like many of these bikes have increased in price due to high demand this year. Appreciate the tip, Corey ;)
@@ElectricBikeReview sure thing :) at least more are available than back in May !
Where in the world did he find all these different e-bikes that I've never heard of
Have you tried the Jetson Bolt Pro for $400 Can at Costco? The price / performance ratio is insane. Don't let the toy like appearance fool you. It can go 22km on a charge and is cheaper than an escooter. I love mine. Just have to temper expectations for $400.
Jetson Bolt Pro $299 includes Free Shipping at Costco. It's an awesome foldable eBike.
Price? Price?? Price????
We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. czcams.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!
No lectric? The one and only truly affordable ebike??
Hey the cliensy e bike
Good man, I hope you have kids that you can help become honest decent human beings…we need it.
Go Cycle?..... at that price I'd say Go to Heck Cycle...... I kid...........Also, not enough Rad on this list.....oh, I kid some more :-)
Hahahaha, oh... I needed a laugh after replying to so many frustrated comments on my last video. Thanks Goobfilm :P
Liberty trike only 1500.
I do like Liberty Trike! Here's our reviews, I did the older one in 2016 electricbikereview.com/brand/liberty-trike/
😀
💪💪💪👍👍👍💪💪💪👊👊👊
😁😊😎👊👍😚👌🤙💯💯!!
Thanks FILZ F!!
in my state, electric bikes must be up to 20 miles.
Have been so disappointed with Rad shipping. They are too lazy to fix issues I feel.
TerN!!!!!!!!! your idea of the best folding bike are you paid for this review?
I do like Tern. Over 95% of the reviews on EBR were free. I charged a $1,500 service fee for a bit to help cover travel and try to bring on some team members... but it didn't work that well, so I'm back to free now. These lists were just a fun thing I did a while back and are a bit out of date now.
Front wheel drive electric bikes are dangerous. If you doubt that, straddle one turn the wheel to the right or left and crack the throttle like you just lost your footing; remember to put all your weight on the handlebars while you're doing it.
I've seen people permanently hobbled from accidents entirely the fault of a front drive bicycle.
You're putting people at unnecessary risk.
My friend's mum has an Ordica Evo that is front drive
