- This groom comes in clutch with an emotional wedding surprise for his bride!
Rachel and Joel's wedding day was nothing short of emotional. But how it came to be, makes it that much better. Rachel and her brother are both hearing impaired and attended the same school for the deaf, which is where their parents met and ultimately got married. Then, when Rachel attended the wedding of her sign language interpreter, she met Joel (her interpreter's brother). The rest is history. If ever there was an emotional story that was destined to happen, this is it. To top it off, Joel took the time to learn sign language for his bride so that he could use ASL when it was time to say his vows. This day was one for the books, and we are proud and honored that we were trusted to capture it. Be sure to grab the tissues, and enjoy this heartfelt story!

If he only learned sign by the wedding; was he using an interpreter or writing everything down up until this point?
I’m glad someone asked this because I was about to lol. I’m not saying it in a hateful way because this is the first video of theirs that I’ve come across so I’m not sure what their story is. How deaf she is or if she has a cochlear etc. but you’d think he would have learned a long time ago! I suppose it’s better late than never
1st thing I thought also
@@corieyferguson767 my fiancé is deaf and is also a really good lip reader. We use sign language a little in our household (I’m currently learning more advanced ASL) but he mainly reads my lips!
❤️🎉🎉
I don't understand, they can both speak and hear. What's the significance of d sign language?
Rachel has had a cochlear implant since she was very young, so even though Joel knows some sign language, that is not how they regularly communicate. Prior to their wedding, they had agreed to speak their vows to each other, but Joel decided to surprise her and sign them to her. It's a simple gesture, but was a very powerful and emotional moment.
@@theyoungsphoto I thought the same as what @Eze Virtue is saying, but i understand it now (i think). So Rachel can "hear" speech if i understand it correctly.
@@kahkahtokkie correct. Bc of her cochlear implant she can hear, Otherwise she is deaf.
@@theyoungsphoto Wow that's amazing. Most people take it for granted that they can hear or walk and so on. They don't understand what a privilege it actualy is, until it happens to themself or someone they love (family or friends). You know what i mean right?
It must be their family or deaf friend so they sign language for them what they said . It fair for hearing people can hear what they say . So it fair for deaf people to read sign language . Make them all happy . It fair enough 50/50
Yeah. they both didn't need ASL for what the priest said at the end!
HI GUYS 🌹🌹🌹. I'M BACK HERE AGAIN 🌹
I'M NOW 52 YEARS MARRIED 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

HOPE YOU ARE BOTH DOING WELL 🌹🌹🌹
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN.🙏⚓🙏⚓🙏

I get that he would learn some ASL, but where was the interpreter? it's hard to lip-read when someone has a microphone right in their face... (and from where I'm sitting, the bride spoke very clearly for a hearing-impaired person - not too many can)
They commented and said she has a cochlear implant to hear otherwise she is deaf
@@gracier2718 /They didn't say that. I will type an apology, if you tell me when they did.

It's under Eze Virture's comment.
@@gracier2718"2 months ago" "It's under Eze Virture's comment." I thought you meant they commented in the video. Thanks for clarifying.
I was extremely disappointed they didn't explain it in the video. I felt deceived.
@@Hamann9631 Ahh ok. No worries! They probably didn't want to put it in the video because most likely that is their actual wedding video that they let their film people post on their YT
Just out of curiosity and not to be rude is the bride deaf or mute or hard of hearing just curious
Definitely not a rude comment at all. You don't know if you don't ask. The bride is deaf, but has a cochlear implant, so she can hear for the most part, and speak (with a slight speech impairment). The couple had previously decided that they would just speak their vows to each other, but Joel decided to also sign them to her, as a sign of his love for her. It was a VERY emotional moment that day.
Who come from instagram reels 😊😊
mee ✌😍😁🙌
Wait, so he didn't learn any during the relationship ❓...How were they communicating before 🧐
Rachel has had a cochlear implant for a long time now, so her and Joel don’t primarily use ASL to communicate. This was done as a simple gesture of love to her, bc they had previously decided to speak their vows to each other.
The video never explained why it mattered. She spoke to other people.
Just now seeing this comment, I apologize, but to explain, Rachel is deaf. However, she has a Cochlear implant, so she can hear (for the most part). Her and Joel had previously discussed that they would go ahead and speak their vows to each other (even tho several of the bridal party and guests are also deaf/hearing impaired.) However, Joel opted to sign his vows anyway, and surprise her with it, as a symbolic sign of his love for her.
I can't figure out where the "minister's" accent comes from; I live in MO and I've never once heard any kind of accent. Everyone here sounds just like my former northern state's accent---I've only been here four years, and in all that time, nobody at all has ever sounded the least bit southern, I mean---yet there's that man with an accent that sounds much more as if he's from a deeper South state.
Is any of them commenting?
look
I'm confused she can hear and speak, so why did he learn sign language? She heard everything her dad said and what the minister said. And she repeated everything the minister said.
