I think the big reason for that is that Finland has alot of casual metal listeners. like, im 23 and most of my friends listen to mumble rap and all that shit but they still sometimes listen to like children of bodom etc.

One of my fave bands 👍 Their lyrics are based on old Finnish folk tale epic the Kalevala. I believe this song is about the mother of the warrior Lemminkäinen who sends a bee to ascend to the halls of the over-god Ukko and fetch from there a drop of honey as ointment that would bring Lemminkäinen back to life (he drowned in the river of tounela, which is like a gateway to the underworld).
River of Tuonela, not tounela. 🤔☺️

This song is about the hero Lemminkäinen dying and being sent to the river Tuonela (the underworld) & his mother going to fetch him back. His mother sews his body back in one piece and the sky god Ukko sends a bee from the heavens to blow life back into him.
I think that song "Silent waters" is about that happening too, but mothers point or view....

This is my favourite song from Amorphis. ❤️ The other two favourites after it are Death of a King and Wrong Direction. And there are many great songs on the Queen of Time album.
Oh boy are you in for a treat! These guys have been around since 1990, I found them in 2009 when their album Skyforger was released.
From that one I would recommend Silver Bride or From the Heaven of My Heart.
Honey of the bees is the bringer of Life in Finnish mythology. Bees come from Heaven, from God.

"The bee is a prominent character in the Kalevala and Finnish mythology and features in moments of birth and resurrection. Once the world has been created we are informed: ‘“from the clouds dripped honey.’ The women of the north are coveted, not just for their beauty, but also for their culinary skills with honey: ‘she may bake honey bread, know how to brew beer.’ Shortly afterwards, ‘smith Ilmarinen was born’ and a ‘bee rose up from the ground… O bee, lightweight man, bring mead on your wing, carry honey on your tongue, from six flowery tips, from seven grass tops, for steel things to be made, for iron to be wrought… spill honey on the earth.’ Apparently, the bee is essential to the forging of the world.
Lemminkäinen’s mother resurrects her son using honey-based potions and spells, collected from the underworld with the assistance of a bee. Her concoction includes a drop of mead brought to anoint the weary one, to tend the ill-befallen… O bee, bird of ours, king of the forest flowers, go now to fetch some honey and to find some mead… to heal the ill.’
The resurrection ritual continues:
So it (the bee) comes panting, travels doubled up, all its wings drenched in mead, its feathers in melted honey. She, Lemminkäinen’s mother, took the ointments and anointed the weary one, tended the ill-befallen; but no help came from them, no words came to the man.
Lemminkäinen’s mother’s does not despair:
Bee, my little bird, fly that other way, right over nine seas to an island on the main, a honey mainland, to Tuuri’s new cabin, the Worshipful boundless one. There is pleasant honey there and good ointment there, which will suit sinews and be good for limbs.
The bee obeyed:
The honey was being cooked… in tiny cauldrons, in beautiful pans that would hold a thumb, fit a fingertip. The bee, slight man, got some of those ointments.
Next, we learn:
The Creator sang charms and the pure God talked, the lord anointed his brood inured by an evil power. Dip your wings in mead, and your feathers in melted honey.
The bee laments its chances of completing the task and is told:
You will get there easily, trip there handsomely, over the moon, underneath the sun, between heaven’s stars. For one day you will flutter to the moon’s brow-bones, for another you will whizz to the Great Bear’s shoulder blades, for a third you will soar up to the Seven Stars’ back; then ‘tis a mite of a way a tiny circuit to where God the holy lives to the blessed one’s dwellings.
And so the bee flies to the ‘Almighty’s chamber’ and returns with the ointment that allows Lemminkäinen’s mother to successfully complete her son’s resurrection."

I only wanna say, congrats and Welcome to another endless Rabbit Hole with Amorphis! They have been on the top of Metal genres way over 30 yrs. They have so many albums but always evolving, changing from Proge, Folk, Power, symphonic and what not genres. They have been the No.1 Special Guest for Nightwish like years and years. And they have also performed with NW. Tommi has the best Growl-Clean Voice combo in the World. There are only lyric videos from this album, released in 2020.
For me Queen of Time was the best album of 2018. Still listen to it a lot. If it wasn't for Spiritbox coming in to my life I'd be listening to it more! lol I definitely recommend checking out more of Amorphis. Been around for a long time and have put out some really great albums and songs.

These guys are unbelievable. Amorphis legitimately have not put out a single bad album. Even their weaker stuff is leagues ahead of pretty much everyone else, it’s just weak in comparison to some of the absolutely genre-defining masterpieces like Tales from the Thousand Lakes, Eclipse, Skyforger, and Under the Red Cloud. One of the greatest metal bands of all time and definitely one of the best acts in all of music period.
congrats for discovering this amazing band. glad you appreciated them! some self-proclaimed "gatekeepers of real metal" don´t like them cause they changed from the harder sound to this sometimes folkier sound with keyboards and flutes.
not only do they have one of the best clear voices and growlers in metal in tomi, they are musically so very creative and rich. one of my favourite bands since a loooong time. I would recommend "brother and sister", "daughter of hate", "death of a king" and "the golden elk", all from "the queen of time" album, masterpiece.
like all good lyrics these are open for interpretation: I believe, "the bee" is a motive from finnish mythology, the kalevala. "queen of time" is about time. kingdoms will fall and decay, castles will crumble and rot away and even the mightiest of the mighty will become just piles of bones and skulls. and eventually then the bee and her swarm will turn up and use the kings heads for their hives to produce the finest honey again.
🇫🇮❤This is the first track on their 2018 album "Queen of Time", which was one of the top metal albums of that year.
P.S. We must protect the bees since they pollinate about 60% of the crop plants we humans eat.

Nope, the song is about an actual bee.
I'm not well versed in Finnish mythology enough to explain what it's precisely about, but I'm sure there will be people along who can explain it to you.

Aside from the bee , house of sleep is my favourite from Amorphis. Again drawn from the Kalevala , and it's a song with meaning to me & the OH, which adds to it.

another way of interpreting the lyrics is that through history, the kings and high society have been parts of humanity that controled the world and had the most influence on other people, but in nature, Bees and other parts of natures environment impact the entire world even more. With bees in nature, they are a very small animal that continuosly polinate the flowers and plants of their home areas ever year, as for them building their castles in the heads of kings, they live wherever they feel like and it's only within recent history that people have had technology and chemicals that could even control where they live. Up to that point, I would love to see people chose to try to remove them from their areas because they would be stung and injured severely. Not to mention without them, any area that did any farming would die because they were part of nature that gave life to those plants and allowed them to farm and live.
I really liked this song until I saw them live…they may be the worst metal band I’ve ever seen live. He really can’t sing for real, unfortunately 😞. A real metal band is always better LIVE than on an album!
Maybe you were too drunk to remember? I saw them few weeks ago and they sounded even better live than recorded.
Definitely worth seeing, especially indoors at ice rinks or at club gigs
