There's a governor screw that limits the speed when it's used in a generator, unscrew that and it'll rev much higher. Also, if you haven't stripped the interior, do that. I want to see this thing as a daily!

Should have made a jack shaft with the center of the clutch disc welded to one end for the splines to adapt to the transmission shaft. Use a 40 series torque a verter kit with plate on the 420cc engine. Run chain from driven clutch to sprocket on the jackshaft. This will give you a neutral when idling and also allow you to shift your transmission to reverse when needed. You would also be able to start your engine with the electric starter or pull start and the car would not jump ahead. No more pushing to start your car. It would run even smoother at the correct rpm/ power band. All you would need is a 40 series converter kit with backing plate and jackshaft made correctly, and appropriate sprockets. And you would have a smooth running and controllable power source for your car. The torque converter kit, pillow blocks and sprockets are off the shelf items. Not much more of an expense.
Right now the first time it builds speed going down a hill it will probably blow the engine. Its definitely not welded exactly strait... you can see it shaking from being out of balance. They sell a aluminum lightweight flywheel for the stock engine maybe they could use that to keep down on weight

@@zacharyatkins8880 a 10 dollar centrifical clutch from a farm store will work fine all you do is use a tiny like 10 tooth sprocket on the motor and a 100 tooth on the tranny that makes the gearing super low minimizing load on the clutch.

In terms of CC you are close to the first gennerations of Citroen 2cv the 2cv4 which had 425cc. You have actually created a pretty fuel economic vehicle there. You should develop this idea! Hook up the throttle cable and add some clutch mechanism.

Later a 602 cc version was introduced and that made a world difference from the 425cc earlier version. I drive a 602 cc Citroen 2CV and it can easily cope with modern traffic. At 3600, they don't produce as much torque, but make up for it in speed, to produce their rated horsepower.
Even a centrifugal clutch off a pocket bike would be a massive improvement on this. If they could've used a real clutch or an automatic gearbox this would've been fantastic.
Get that car to Cleetus McFarland, he might be able to rework the engine and turbo it, and get it under 45 seconds in the 1/4 mile.... Next, slap the hood back on it and see what CarMax would give you for it. After all, it DOES have a new engine!

Yep! The predator v-twin is 33 ft lbs of torque and rated at 22hp. Most say that’s low. Can be had for under $700 with coupon. For reference a 84 CRX 1.3 only had 60 HP and that was a legit car.
ya that seems like an easy step for more control rather than direct drive. An engine is an engine, i mean an ATV or UTV with 20-30 hp 325cc single cylinder engine (ie polaris sportsman 330) will do a lot of work around most farms with an even smaller engine, so not sure why people are so shocked lol. An ATV can have a lot more control, 4x4 etc so not shocking at all.
You can put a cheap chinese engine in a econobox, and it will get you places, as long as you have another, larger vehicle to follow behind you, and push start you after every stop light. Would have been a lot more impressive, and entertaining had the car been actually functional and not visibly cut up. For instance, the reactions at the Wal Mart when you walk up to the car, open the hood, pull start the motor, then drive away.
@@mikemarler8224 in all fairness, that was just a rushed job. Most of these little engines come with electric start on a 12v system so its quite easy to get electric start. Even my 7hp generator has electric start with onboard battery. Clutch solves the push start issues, and you can get some sort of exhaust to go into the original outlet of the car's exhaust system. Again most of these motors will move a car, drive around etc, but longevity of the vehicle will be relatively low.
I like. Add a solar cell on top for power for the running lights/ break lights and go all led lamps for all. A 24 horse engine ran a Oldsmobile when we played.

rjcass33 i bought a generator that is twice the size of a honda gen that I could find its massive and 10 years later it fires right up and runs like a boss for like 600 bucks and honda gen is like 3 grand for the same size

@@modder2083 I'm afraid an engine that size would actually run the car! It wouldn't accelerate very well, but it would maintain highway speeds with an engine that size. If you made it a hybrid with a decent size battery, it would actually be viable for day to day transportation, as long as you don't try to pull a trailer.
Yep! The predator v-twin is 33 ft lbs of torque and rated at 22hp. Most say that’s low. Can be had for under $700 with coupon. For reference a 84 CRX 1.3 only had 60 HP and that was a legit car.

One word, centrifugal clutch.
Put a clutch on it and connect the accelerator to the carb
ya that seems like an easy step for more control rather than direct drive. An engine is an engine, i mean an ATV or UTV with 20-30 hp 325cc single cylinder engine (ie polaris sportsman 330) will do a lot of work around most farms with an even smaller engine, so not sure why people are so shocked lol. An ATV can have a lot more control, 4x4 etc so not shocking at all.
OneEyeDrone my 300 Prairie will do 50 top speed and I use it to pull a small utility trailer around with hay and feed all the time
You can put a cheap chinese engine in a econobox, and it will get you places, as long as you have another, larger vehicle to follow behind you, and push start you after every stop light.
Would have been a lot more impressive, and entertaining had the car been actually functional and not visibly cut up. For instance, the reactions at the Wal Mart when you walk up to the car, open the hood, pull start the motor, then drive away.
@@mikemarler8224 in all fairness, that was just a rushed job. Most of these little engines come with electric start on a 12v system so its quite easy to get electric start. Even my 7hp generator has electric start with onboard battery.
Clutch solves the push start issues, and you can get some sort of exhaust to go into the original outlet of the car's exhaust system.
Again most of these motors will move a car, drive around etc, but longevity of the vehicle will be relatively low.
That's a bit technical for them I think it would involve engineering and not a hand held battery drill 😆
I once had a 3.5 Briggs and Stratton push mower engine on a 12 hp lawn tractor. Weight reduction and and gear changes got me 40 kms per hour haha
I like. Add a solar cell on top for power for the running lights/ break lights and go all led lamps for all. A 24 horse engine ran a Oldsmobile when we played.

Should have installed the clutch and hooked up the engine throttle so you could shift gears and increase the rpm of the engine.
Definitely the throttle but keep the push truck and just float gears
