Every one on this keto journey says to get sleep. Well, not for everyone. I can't SLEEP. I'm doing great losing weight, but no sleep. 😢
I had the same problem when I was on keto. I went from sleeping 8-9h per night to like 4h and I felt great.
Now that I've taken a break I sleep again but feels like s**t
Try some melatonin about 30-60 mins before bed. It has helped me.
I put my carbs higher and had closer to bed that helped .
Make sure you get electrolytes correct aswell I underestimated this

When I started keto I was making smoothies with raw eggs and I would notice I was losing hair when I would wash it. I started cooking my eggs and it completely stopped.

Ohhhh gee, I had hair loss and couldn’t figure it out, but then I was off table salt with Iodine for months and when I started using it again, the hair loss stopped. But this could be another reason.
Haven't found any of these issues. I eat within a small feeding window 20/ 4 . Sometimes less . I do a clean keto . Whole food single ingredients. Take plenty of vitamins ( D3 k2 B3 E multi vitamin Omega 3 ) Started January 6 . Embarrassed to say i was wearing size 40 pants . As of today was thrilled to open a tote of pants i have not been able to fit into for a few years . Today I'm able to button up Size 34 . The most amazing thing i haven't really excised more then walking the dogs.
I take a daily multivitamin mineral supplement. When I'm a little constipated, I eat more veggies. Sometimes I drink V8 juice. I've always carried a water bottle and drink it constantly. The main thing I noticed after beginning keto was a good bit of skin breakout, which cleared up after a few weeks. I think that was all the sugar I'd previously consumed leaving my body. I lost 31 pounds in six months on keto, and my A1C is back in the normal range (the reason I went on keto). I'm no longer pre-diabetic. Yay! I'm wearing my "little" clothes again and loving life! Also, I've had way more energy on keto than ever before. This is my new forever lifestyle.
The mental emotional improvement in my case makes it great.

I lost some hair around the crown but it was because of scalp psoriasis, this is in year 2 of being on keto/low carb. I still have psoriasis but the hair grew back, even thicker than before. The key is not to worry about it. You're right!

I'm down nearly 10 lbs in a month. I'm not stopping.
I have 30 lbs to go.
I started losing a LOT of hair about 8 months into keto. We eased into keto, so no keto flu but depending on stage of ketosis, the bad breath or body odor comes & goes. It's been over 3 years and we've changed to modified but I'm not sure my hair will recover its thickness. Weekly shower hairball (rolled up pretty tight) size has been as large as a golf ball and now that hair is shorter & thinner it is less in diameter but still significant, not including what is brushed out or falls out while not in shower. Weight loss was not drastic or fast. I've not seen anyone cover this topic very well. I'm now a 55yo female & hormones have changed since starting 4+ years ago. Thanks for at least touching the topic.
Same thing happened to me about 8 months in. Lost about 1/3 of my hair (which used to be VERY thick). Went to the doc and after ruling out the obvious, possible biological causes, went to the dermatologist who did a biopsy which came back as "alopecia". I was prescribed Spironolactone (off label) and within 6 months or so, the hair stopped falling out - or, rather, I went back to my normal hair shedding amounts. Have been on it (very low dose) now for about 2 years or so. BTW - sounds like we started Keto about the same time. We (husband and I - he already had no hair LOL) are no longer trying to lose weight but still try to keep to under 50 carbs a day. Same thing happened to me but I never was on Keto. It was my thyroid. That may be something that you want to look into.

Same here, also 55 female, but I'm pretty sure I had thyroid issues too, along with the whole endocrine system being off and cellular inflammation, blocking uptake, along with SIBO all of a sudden after menopause,but.... . Along with keto-vore eating, I began culturing/fermenting my dairy into kefir & all the Super Gut yogurts. The homegrown bugs have saved my life. I had started keto trusting it completely, spent past year bedridden, and needed a miracle. I took pics of my thinning hairline before, and now I've got new hairs growing in. I really enjoyed the first of the two videos. I have lost a lot of hair on my keto journey in one year I lost 83 pounds. I still have 30 pounds to lose and I seem to have plateaued on weight loss so I am eagerly looking forward to your next video.
If it causes you to lose your hair you're eating too much keto and not enough meat and meat products. You need sinew, blood, fats, and the normal carbs from meat in order to live.
If you don't get those things in your diet but only eat Keto all the time you aren't doing yourself any favors and no vitamins don't do it, you gotta eat a variety of foods in order to get everything you need. Fish, Beef, and Pork have the necessary nutrients. And there's great news, you can actually use meat to make breads, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and even brownies. Just get some ground meat of your choice and add nut flowers to them before adding eggs baking powder and salt. You'll see a huge difference in your health.

I am so glad to hear you are aware of the dangers of zylitol with dogs. As a Vet Tech I helped treat a few dogs that got into zylitol. It is super scary. Paintballs also contain zylitol and are labeled non-toxic because they were tested for humans. That was one of the dogs I saw- he was catching and biting paintballs.
Poor puppers! Xylitol is rough stuff. My neighbor’s cat actually passed away from it - got into sugar free gum. 😩

I'm not sure if I'm "different" or if I did enough research to bypass keto flu. I started taking electrolyte supplements at the beginning of my keto journey years ago. It really worked for me. I'm not sure if it would benefit everyone. Thank you for this video!
Keto flu is sodium deficiency. More salt is the cure.
Been on keto for over a year (staying around 60 lbs weight lost), I haven't noticed any weird hair changes. After eating clean for this long I can smell all the rancid crap in processed/junk/fast food, especially seed oils even the "natural flavoring" in sugar free sparkling waters smell like a chemical to me.
I luv the way you simplified the Keto Journey 💓. Change is not comfortable, BUT KETO upgrades your metabolic system & body performance.

I eat more of a carnivore diet. Lots of meat protein and salted nuts. I feel my hair coming back from that stage in keto. I also eat lots of fruit too. Truly a Mediterranean diet.. heavy on the meat light on breads no pasta or rice ever..😅 whatever that all means. Loving myself first then upkeep/maintaining

Hair loss definitely increased when I went from SAD to Keto about a year ago. I recently transitioned to carnivore and it helped me get over my weight loss plateau AND hair is growing in fuller and does not fall out as much. I’m finding that a higher protein Keto may be what works best with my body.
I appreciate your channel very informative. I do think wrong info on keto . What I have learned some people can do it differently.

When my hair started falling out it came out by hand fulls. I do biotin, collagen and upped my protein, I have a lot of little hairs sticking up and out now. I didn't lose a lot of weight fast mine was very gradually. 30 pounds in 6 months.
Hair loss is why I stopped Keto. Had expensive lab tests to rule out autoimmune disease only to realize it was my diet.
When your long time hair stylist BEGS you to get to the bottom of hair loss you know it’s serious.
You probably could have taken a good multivitamin. I've seen a lot of big women with beautiful hair and everybody ties it to them being big but I personally think that people who love food and eat a lot of good variety simply get insanely good nutrition. They're the ones that cook. Not the ones who live on donuts and soda.
@@franny5295 I did take Multivitamins. You hit the nail on the head. A well balanced diet is the key. Keto wasn’t for me.
I started losing my hair too on Keto. I started taking Collagen, vitamin D, zinc, vitamin C and calcium. I have new hairs growing in all over my head! Yes I’m still doing keto.
I started keto and IF in February when diagnosed T2D. I was already having a hair crisis long before that. Full menopause at 46, now 57. I was worried about losing more hair, then saw a video from Dr. Mindy Pelz, I got my body off of products (obesegens she called them) with chemicals & everything that could block the bodies receptors. I am seeing baby hairs this past week and not as much falling out which gives me hope since jumping right in with keto I have felt great and quite a few health annoyances disappear! I think the organic castor oil application 2x a week has helped and a daily handful of pistachios along with the healthy lifestyle changes. My blood glucose levels are almost normal again, so it can be done.... good luck to all of you on your journey.
Has anyone had bloodshot eyes about four months into keto? I had to add carbs back in and it went away but gained weight back 😒 I tried vitamins and ELMT supplements but it was freaky looking!

I didn't loose hair when I was on keto. However, I started to loose my hair about 4 months after I quit keto and being back on a none keto diet for 4m. My hair was amazing when I was on keto.

Is collagen good supplements for hair loss?
I have a question. I use thin slices of Swiss cheese cut into fourths with everything but the bagel on them. I love these things and could eat them constantly. I use them for crackers and for chips and just as a quick snack. My question is do they lose any calories or fat content when you bake them? there is always oil on the parchment sheet that I baked them on and I put them on paper towels afterwards and there is oil that soaks into the paper towels as well. So I just wondered if they were lower in calories or lower in oil content after you cook them.
I started using two spoonfuls of beef gelatin in a hot beverage, and my thinning hair is growing back in. 🎉

I border on keto/carnivore. My worst side affect was low potassium that made me feel like I was having a heart attack with a rapid heartbeat, back pain and muscle cramping. The whole time I was using an electrolyte that had 1000 mg potassium in it. Come to find out the electrolyte was the wrong kind of potassium for your heart/muscle. The electrolyte contained potassium citrate. After going to the doctor, I was prescribed a potassium chloride. You can find that in Morton lite salt. Scary learning experience.
Chlorides are garbage. They will destroy the liver & gut
At first lemon water with acv gave me to runs,seems to be fine now.
I started keto back in Oct 2023. Was going great, triglycerides down from 1099 to 283, weight down from 200 to 182. Then in early Jan 2024, I started having heart palpitations, insomnia, and irritability. The heart stuff has been scary. I had to take Ativan to calm it down. I quit keto about a week ago. I think things are getting better. Next plan is a moderate low carb lifestyle with some of the better carbs mixed in. I don’t think my body can take pure keto.
Glad you listened to your body. That’s is amazing progress with the triglycerides! I think low carb with focus on whole/real foods is a great option for you. Some people just don’t do well on keto and that’s okay - you gotta eat the way that makes you feel your best.

It could be the side effects of COVID vaccine because of the heavy metal like me. My hair loss started way before keto.

Salt makes my blood pressure rise. The drink mix has 1000 sodium. I would be afraid to try it.
Diarrhea occurred for me because I overdid the fake sugars.

My problem is Histamine from eating the same keto friendly veggies. It took about a year into Keto to start hives, runny nose and itching. Now I am also having trouble losing weight.
Sounds like you are sensitive to some of those vegetables and they are causing inflammation and hindering weight loss. Have you had a good sensitivity test?
Best sensitivity test is trial and error. I have to vary the fruits and veggies that I eat because I develop sensitivity to anything I eat too frequently. I have to rotate the berries and veggies I eat. Also if if have histamine issues, take a good probiotic and avoid camomile tea which is in the ragweed family. Also, if you meal plan, leftovers develop histamines, even meat leftovers. You might need to cook fresh meals daily or every other day.
Yes, my blood test revealed I was prone to allergies, which I have known for years. I am trying to rotate foods to help with the symptoms. It is getting better, but I am aware that it could spring up anytime. I can eat something today with no problem, but I might get a reaction tomorrow. Keeping lists of foods only go so far. I have Dao oxidase that I keep handy for sever hives and swelling. I am still researching to make it better.
I’m doing low carb and intermittent fasting, and I love eating this way. I do feel better but the thing that has happened to me since doing this, 4 months ago, I get these little pimply things on my scalp. I had never had this before I started eating this way. Has anybody else experienced this? If so, is there something that can be done for it?
Might be ur shampoo/ hair products. Since cleaning up my diet my scalp/skin doesnt tolerate much. Allergies to junk for me.
It needs to be stated that low carb and keto are not the same thing. Keto is entirely different from any other diet because the goal is not simply to cut carbs, but cut them so much that you induce ketosis, something that can only be achieved on an extremely low carb diet, usually with less than 20g of carbs per day.
Electrolyte replacement should be 75 mg calcium lactate. 120mg from magnesium citrate. 60mg chloride from Pink Himalayan sea salt 40 mg sodium from Pink Himalayan sea salt 1000 mg of potassium from potassium citrate. Coupled with 100mg of a trace mineral complex that has all 83 minerals. That's the safest electrolyte replenishment.

I am at the end of Week 3 of Keto, and I have already lost 24 lbs, which is great, but today I am feeling really sick. I have nausea, severe fatigue, I feel extremely exhausted, zero energy and I can't sleep. Why am i experiencing this, is it normal, and should I come off the keto diet? Thank you.

I think you may have caught a bug.
Not a doctor, but from my knowledge of doing keto to successfully lower blood sugar and be in remission from type 2 diabetes, losing weight that fast isn’t good for you. Most of that 24lbs is likely water weight (it’s next to impossible to burn fat that fast) so you are probably dehydrated so need to drink more water and also intake more salt/electrolytes to help you retain that water. You don’t actually have to buy expensive electrolyte drinks - I find just increasing salt intake helps. You could also take an ordinary inexpensive multivitamin for the potassium etc (but take it with a meal). You’ll probably put some weight back on at first but will feel better. It’s also possible that you are simply eating too few calories - on keto we are eating low carbs and restricting protein so keto only works if you eat enough fat. Good luck! 👍
I make my own electrolytes because I am t2d, I fresh squeeze a lemon into 8oz of water and ad a pinch of Himalayan salt, that way I don't get any sugar. I also cook with salt & put a bit on my food so I know I am getting enough. I had a bad bug earlier this week, diarrhea for 42 hours, even then you can't get enough hydration, I needed an IV & potassium, my Dr. also recommended adjusting my eating no salads for this week til my insides recover and that it was okay to have some toast or saltines while I was sick, lots of eggs this week & bone broth. I freeze my bread and toast it so it helps with my blood sugar. Hope you feel better!
Yikes, that a lot of sodium in that Element Electrolyte drink mix, Ratio of Sodium to Potassium at min. should be 1:1. I would prefer high Potassium and moderate sodium cause I can eat and consume sodium very easily.

this is strange to hear. Its been almost 23years that im keto.. First years, Ive took multivitamins but now I just eat balanced Im 60 look like 50,my health is at the top. This keto is too complicated. Never lost hair of felt bad, all the contrary!!!
Do you eat a lot of vegetables on keto? I have experienced hair thinning and I am going to start with the recommended 7-10 cups salad/ veggies a day, Non fortified nutritional yeast and a lot more animal liver. Hopefully this helps me. What is your average daily carbs consumption? Thank you, I really don’t want to quit keto as it helps me with my type 2 diabetes
Is explosive diarrhea part of the keto flu ?
Are you using MCT oil? That will do it to you if you take too much before your body is used to it.
and if you have stage 3 CKD? Can't take LMNT...
Of course with any health condition, especially one dealing with kidneys, talk to your doctor.
I want to eat keto for Health not weight loss. I already weighed just under a hundred pounds and I'm losing about a pound a day. I can't keep doing that. I'm 74. Is it possible to gain or maintain weight on keto?
How many calories are you eating a day? And do you track how much protein and fat you are getting besides carbs?
@@KetoFocus I have to admit I'm not tracking my carbs or macros. It's something I need to start doing. I've just been slashing carbs I think below 50 anyway probably below 20. Have not been testing for ketosis. Reading labels, doing recipes and adding as much meat as I possibly can.
200 mg of potassium a day is a far cry from the 4000mg a day u need ansd 60 mg of magnesium is pretty low to the 375mg or so of magnesium. I get that u eat foods w this too but it's just drink chicken broth and take mag and potassium supplements w higher amounts.

I’d add getting a glucose monitor and at least the ketone pee strips and testing what happens after you eat. If you aren’t making ketones you are eating something that has sneaky sugar. Keto dieters make ketones. No exceptions. Read labels and look for maltodextrin as hidden source of glucose spikes. They can say sugar free and have maltodextrin. No bueno. Stay away from keto packaged foods. Except rebel ice cream. That stuff is amazing and clean. Just keep the portions small or don’t eat it if you can’t handle it. Addicts be warned. Magic spoon cereal is also clean and ok as a small snack. Those are my indulgences once every few days. Not daily and certainly not every meal. Avoid fast food as they have bad oils that stimulate your appetite (by design). Don’t be lazy and plan meals ahead. Lazy gets you in trouble eating packaged garbage. Eat that bacon. So filling and satisfying until you get things under control. Avoid snacking. Resist those lizard doctors 😂- they will discourage you. Be warned they will ignore your weight loss and focus on 1 number. Best to avoid for a year. Let your body acclimate. Avoid extreme cardio - makes cortisol. Do easy walks or just easy weight lifting. Keep it moderate or you won’t lose weight. Less is actually more for once. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Everyone is a different chemistry set. Learn it.
