As a kid sitting in section 34 in Wild Bill's heyday watching the O's win and the EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE chants, it was magical.
Eddie Murray was one of my favorite players growing up. Best player ever!
What a great piece of Americana. Thanks for uploading this video. I saw Eddie Murray play in Milwaukee, in the only pro baseball game I've ever seen. He always struck me as understated. This, for me shows the greatness of the U.S. The gift that sports is to humanity, that it can be a venue through which people's better side, their community spirit is expressed. Eddie was a high level player, consistent and a team player. Just seeing the people in the stands who he thanked shows the quality of what America can produce and has produced. God Bless America, and God help her in her time of need.

This is more than Eddie talked during his entire MLB career lol. That man just let his play do the talking. The press may not have liked him, but us O's fans loved having him here.

I'm a born and raised Baltimorian and Eddie was to me what Mickey Mantle was to Billy Crystal, I played First Base from Little League to College and I tried to play First like Eddie did.
I was there that day as a young kid and bought a huge oversized HOF special Eddie Murray signed jersey, I now fit it easily today as a man. Great player, class act as usual. Mr. Consistency.
Eddie speaks from his heart. Quiet man who carried a great big bat . Always an underrated but dangerous hitter. At the time , the media focused on Schmidt , Brett, Jackson Stargell.

you can pencil in 160 games 30 hr 100 rbi every year..very clutch hittter as well.could of also had 2 or 3 mvps if not for yount, mattingly and ripken.seemed like he finished 2nd or 3rd in voting every year

Who else had a career almost like Murray? McGriff. He needs to be in the Hall.
It was like Murrary's, but not as good. The voters got it right with both of them.
Eddie led the 1980s in RBI. McGriff was good, but not quite as good as Eddie
McGriff was a good player, but Murray is one of 5 all time to get 3000 hits and 500 HRs. McGriff fell short of both of those milestones.
