  • Hi,
in this video I went over all of the specs on my Lynskey R500 as well as the size of the bike.
For reference, I'm 5.4 barefoot with ~28.5 inseam. The bike fits me well.
In terms of sizing, I highly recommend talking to Lynskey to confirm.

Love how people complain about how heavy it is. Compare it to a moot. The moot is half a pound less than the lynskey and like 3 times the cost. Im willing to bet every one commenting on weight (a half pound to less than a pound off all the high end ti frames) could stand to LOOSE A FEW POUNDS OF BODY WEIGHT. I went from a giant revolt (carbon gravel bike) to a lynskey gr300. Sure the ti bike is heavier but if you have the fitness bike weight doesnt matter much been getting pr's on climbs (because fitness). Love how the ti bike absolutely slays on descents (more confidence to just send it, same wheels and tire set up btw). So stable and fast.

Kudos to you on your PR. More people own carbon frames than ti. Somehow weight is everything with carbon bikes, therefore people seem to carry that over to ti frames and forget about its benefits.

@@organicbikepacking7312 ive been thinking about selling my emonda for a ti frame for the road. Those carbon bike just dont have the soul of a ti bike. Also weight wise my sl6 pro emonda is already heavy for a carbon bike. Ive been looking at no 22 (30 mins away from me) and litespeeds newest roaf bike (claimed to be the loghtest production ti frame road bike i guess) i thi k i could build either of those frames up to easily be within a pound of my current emonda.

The weight of the bike is far more important than bodyweight assuming you are already in cycling shape especially when climbing. The steeper and longer the climb is.. the more it matters. Each kg/lb you lose on your bodyweight, it also means less power to the pedal. 1kg is more than 1% of your weight or power. This means your FTP just went from i.e 300 to 297-295 by losing 1kg/2.2lb. Downhill descent also plays a big role.

Aesthetically speaking this is truly a beautifully balanced bicycle. Normally small sized bikes are overwhelmed by 700c wheels but this one is not. Just a few things I find that might accentuate the lines. First, the stem is a bit chunky on the steer tube clamp side. Although it flows nicely with the bars on the other end it makes the steer tube appear visibly weak where the spacers are. Across on the other end of the top tube the opposite is happening. The seat post clamp being both black and block shaped, interrupts the frame to post transition. I think a less conspicuous, form fitting clamp, maybe in the same titanium color would be nice. I like a touch of red in the pedals but once again the square shape seems off for a pure road bike. It might also be nice to see small amounts of red elsewhere like valves maybe. The last area is the crank but more specifically the chain rings. Visually they add a lot of weight and tangled complexity that seems unnecessary. Overall its industrial simplicity, weapon like angularity and underlying strength are very desirable. 9 out of 10.

Light and durable. The biggest draw back regarding weight is usually yourself. Weight weenies part with their money far too easily, paying ridiculous prices for a few grams off. It’s insane, but the bike manufacturers welcome the profits. My bike is a Mark Reilly model

      Hi Quantum,
based on both websites, the Ultimate weighs about 350 grams less which can be significant. I didn't have a chance to weigh the R500 frame before the build.
Aside from the weight, geometry, aesthetic, frame finish, tire clearance, ride feel etc... are worth looking into as well.
      - Aerodynamic setup, deeper wheelset, racier look I'd still go with the R500.
      - All day with a little more upright geo, more compliant 3.25 AI tubes I'd probably go with Ultimate.
Some of these are marginal difference of course; both frames are awesome, but at the end I'd say choose what you like aesthetically. That goes along way.

I've compared other ti bikes to lynksey frames and majority of them fall within 0.5-0.75lbs such as moots an seven. Not much difference.

    • @organicbikepacking7312

Thanks for sharing the ride. Helix is another tube I could never get tired of looking at let alone riding on; they are stiffer than the rounded tubes but more compliant than the diamond shaped on the R500. It's hard to tell how much stiffer. However, I've ridden both the R500 and my Litespeed Cherohala with the same wheelset, R500 is noticeably faster of course aerodynamic and many factors involved.

The focus on weight that everybody has doesn’t make much sense. As long as the bike’s weight is in the ballpark of comparable bikes, your wheels and tires are going to make a much bigger difference to handling. Your body weight is also a much bigger factor in the system, so you’d be better off focusing on dropping fat. Worrying about 1-2 pounds on a bike that has otherwise excellent characterizes is foolish

People most of your bike is dead weight and does not matter. A pound or two on the bike is basically the same as a pound or two on the rider. The only thing that matters is rotational weight as that has to actually spin so lighter wheels, tires, cranks, pedals, cassette and chain are the only difference that matter. Your body weight constantly fluctuates daily by pounds so quite worrying about a couple pounds on your bike.
I would worry much more about the feel, comfort, stiffness, and handling of a bike before I would worry about a couple pounds on the bike. There is little difference between a 17 pound and 20 pound bike unless it is in the wheels.....
