After 70 years: German national team takes off adidas, puts on Nike | DW News

  • It seemed to be a marriage for eternity: From the very beginning the German national football team dressed in adidas outfits. All of their World Cup victories in 1954, 1974, 1990 and 2014 showed them in the iconic three-stripes-garments. So it is understable that it comes to many as a shock, when DFB, the German Football Association, announced that from 2027 on, US-rival Nike will be the official partner. DW sports expert Mark Meadows looks behind the scenes and explains the real reason for this swap.
