As far as Point #1, the problem with KPop, is that there is nothing inherently Korean, or `K`, about it. It is still all western music, no matter how much S.Korea variates it as KPop. If I ask, what is the music key of < insert KPop song title here > as officially released by < insert KPop band here > & someone answers that it is in the key of C, F#, A♭, etc, with middle C as A440 standard, then I just proved my point. And if I ask what musical genre/style it is in & they say that it is R&B or Hiphop or Pop or Rock, or some form of EDM, etc that is still all from the west. Yes, the style of Pop comes from the west, at least in modern times (Mozart`s music was considered the pop of his time). Even the word & concept of `Idol` goes back to the days of Frank Sinatra when he debuted as an idol in the 1940s. I will also hear it a lot when people in KPop even pronounces it as `idol`, which is not a Korean word at all, it is French/Latin.
Also, KPop began during the age of electronics. There is no KPop without electronics, of which KPop & all of the modern world uses electric & electronic machines (including the electric grid), an invention that started in the US. There is also the western inventions of the piano, guitar, drumsets, violins, sax, synthesizers, microphones, mixers, computers/digitization, televisions, radios, VCRs, tape cassettes, Internet ... all used by KPop recording studios & bands.
KPop right now uses the formfactor platform of singing/rapping + choreography. Other than KPop, other big industries that use this formfactor would be Broadway musicals & Bollywood. This sync dancing mostly directly comes from the influence of Seo Taiji & Boys, of which he copied this from the west. That does not mean that all KPop choreography may have come from the west, a tiny percentage of it may have come from traditional Korean/Asian dance, but the way KPop utilizes it primarily can be observed as coming from the west. But even if this type of multi-person synchronized choreography had been seen in Korea before KPop began, a lot of it still points to the influence of western music & dance. Taiji also helped popularize hiphop street dance. Contemporary/ballet dance is basically from the west as well. Also, Korean Trot music also came from the US, by way of Japanese colonial rule. Korea (along with Japan & the Philippines for example) has been listening to & adopting western music & culture since at least the 19th century. By `removing` the K in KPop possibly means that KPop is coming back full circle back to its roots, which is the United States. While you could say that the Father of KPop is Seo Taiji & maybe also Lee Sooman, then the grandfathers or forefathers of KPop are actually more like the Jackson 5, Prince & theTemptations.
So we can try to put back the K in KPop, but no matter how we juggle it, it still points towards the west ... or the east if we fly over the Pacific from Korea. Until I see 99.9% of KPop music from this time forward sounding more like a modernized form of Pansori in maybe pyongjo, then KPop was never Korean in the first place, which it really isn`t. Also, one thing that KPop never fully utilized (copied) from Seo Taiji, is the aspect of the instrument band, but slowly but surely KPop rock bands are coming into the fray, since we have to remember that Seo Taiji & Boys played as a modern instrument band, not just only dancing. Some people were not also aware that they were in the genre of hiphop-rock, not just pure hiphop, because Seo Taiji is first & foremost a rock & metal multi-genre multi-instrumentalist since the 1980s. So imagine the big irony of KPop, in that its style/sound became more pop, hiphop, R&B, rather than say hair/death/nu-metal & hard rock, all because Taiji experimented with a rapping 3-member choreographic/instrument group, which really only lasted 4 years. KPop itself is still only about 25 years old, but going on 30. One day, there is a possibility that KPop may get rid of the dancing part of it, but we will have to wait & see, assuming KPop will survive another century`s worth of time.
