  • This beautifully haunting rendition is of a very sad Yiddish song by Morris Rosenfeld (1862-1923) has become synonymous with the cruel and unnecessary deaths of some 146 textile workers in a fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in 1911 in New York . This is the best version I know of, and should be made comercially available if it is not already (please let me know where I can get it if it is).
I notice, thanks to Lagolop, that there is the 'trianglecoalition' channel for further info

The song was written before the Triangle Fire. Rosenfeld was one of the four "sweatshop" poets, and actually worked in the needle trades. The song became a standard at virtually every commemoration of the fire.
