    Should be pointed out that Ford pardoned Nixon with the idea that by Nixon resigning there was no NEED to keep dragging out the Watergate issue. So, pardon him, and we can put it al behind us and move on to more pressing issues of running the country.
    HOWEVER, this turned out to backfire because the majority of Americans felt that Nixon SHOULD be put on trial, and have some kind of "official ruling" on the matter. Innocent or guilty, a COURT RULING needed to be reached, then you could pardon him or commute his punishment ... but only AFTER the court ruling was officially reached.

    Socialism/communism/fascism = government ownership.

    • @dwi2921
      @dwi2921 Před 7 měsíci

      That's an over simplified overview.
      Capitalism= private or semi-private ownership. Particularly of buisness.
      Socialism/Communism= a marketless society. Where buisness is either government owned OR communal (that is independent community) ownership. But never both at the same time.
      Market Socialism= cooperative ownership of buisness between workers. Cooperative or consensus government.
      Social Anarchism= Cooperative or communal ownership. No centralised government or government at all.
      Fascism= corporate ownership usually in tandem with some form of government. Via a mutual agreement. May include some withered vestiges of Socialism in order to make it seem more fair.
      Libertarian Capitalism/Anarcho-Capitalism= private ownership of EVERYTHING or even potentially ANYONE. No government.
      Objectivism= pure insanity.

    • @vagabondwastrel2361
      @vagabondwastrel2361 Před 7 měsíci

      @@dwi2921 Objectivism isn't pure insanity it is just the absolutist position on personal freedom and personal accountability. (aka a good place to start from when creating laws)
      It absolutely is an over simplification but the thing it isn't is that it isn't wrong. What people tend to not understand is the facists let the business owners keep their businesses if they just followed the rules of the party where they dictated worker wages, price of goods, price of the finished product, distribution range and distribution amounts.
      AKA government ownership where the government isn't holding the risk until it just takes away the pretense of private ownership.
      Anytime you start to take ownership away from private citizens and move it to the government you have some form of socialism.
      The other thing is I don't blame you for your positions. There was a complete movement to pretend that fascism isn't a socialist ideology. The only reason why it is considered "far right" is entirely due to it being compared to the "ideal" of the Utopian communism by the french socialists.
      If you don't mind doing research look at how the national socialists of Germany planned to rule their economy and empire then compare that to the EU.

But they do not mention how in his manifesto he said that people should only be loyal to the state so religions should be prohibited, that the state should have total power to eliminate inferior and undesirable races, in fact a young Hitler liked his so much work to name his political party NAZI, which means socialist German workers party. While your argument is essentially correct, I have a few nit picks and corrections.
      1) Karl Marx was out of touch with the working class in general.
      2) Marx's ideas were critiqued and ridiculed by fellow socialists and especially social anarchists blasted his ideas. Calling them authoritarian and dangerous.
      In hindsight we know those socialists and social anarchists were right. But at the time people were looking for new solutions.
      More importantly, Marxism in an intellectual wasteland of quick solutions. Without nuance. Not to mention an unfinished philosophy, as Marx died before he could finish it.
      In other words, an ideological dead end. Unfortunately, people love quick solutions without nuance.
      3) The NAZI Party was founded by Anton Drexler, not Hitler. Originally known as the DAP (German Workers Party). It was a hyper/ultranationalist, German white only, workers party.
      Later it was joined by Hitler and the Strasser brothers. That when it became the NSDAP.
      Regardless the name was to intice left wing workers in to joining at best. Or fool them in to joining at worse.
      The NSDAP file flopped between pro-worker and pro-big buisness policies through out it's existence.
      Long story shot it was Red fascism, not unlike the USSR.

      1- That is what I mean when I said that he was the son of millonaries and never helped anyone when he has money.
      2- He wrote a manifesto that was later censored after his death, but in the one that he wrote, it was mentioned "Total power of the government", "Eliminate the inferior races", "Churches should be eradicated" and "The final goal of socialism is communism".
      3- About what you said, you even mentioned that a man named Anton Drexler, create a political party named DAP. But after Hittle joined he changed to the NAZI. That's essentially what I said at the beginning. Before there was a political party that Hitler changed to represent his ideals, and that ideology is socialist, that's why NAZI means socialist German workers' party.

      On 1 and 2) ok fair enough
      On number 3) Not quite. Hitler was part of the volkish wing of the NSDAP. That is the ultranationalist and hyper conservative wing. Hitler himself was never a socialist, he said so himself. He USED socialism as a tool though, most certainly.
      Ultimately it was the Strasser brothers who put the socialist in the NDASP effectively. Even if Hitler was behind the renaming.
      The Strassers were later "removed" from the party, though one did end up surviving. As for their followers, it was pretty much a slaughter. The NDASP was an amorphous beast, not really any one thing. Save being racist and authoritarian.

      @@dwi2921 Ok, I understand your point and it seems that you have great knowledge of the subject, but from an external point of view, you mentioned how Hittle "removed" the original founders of that political party, took over its base and renamed it. For someone who does not have as deep a knowledge as what you have shown, it gives the impression that he created the NAZI party over the old one.
      About the "Use Socialism" part.
      All socialist leaders have used it.
      From Lennin to the Castros, everyone has used the Socialist ideology to deceive their people and allow them to live in Wealth. When Fidel died he had 7 mansions and a personal fortune of more than 50 million, Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro, while they criticized US Capitalism, their wives and children went shopping in Miami, spending millions on luxury condominiums and luxury items, Staling He lived in the mansions of the imperial family of Russia with all their treasures, while between 5 and 7 million people died of hunger, it has been said that if they had sold the treasures of just one of those mansions those people could have been fed, Not to mention how he ordered the murder of three of his children because they were not convenient.
      Every nation that has adopted the socialist philosophy paid with the blood and suffering of its people.

      This is a fair point.
      However I could say the same for Capitalism. Sigman Rhee, Ferdinand Marcos, François Duvalier, and Agusto Pinochet were all brutal. Pro-Capitalist dictators. Who murdered and abused their own people. For profit and the proliferation of capitalism in their countries. Especially in the case of Pinochet. One can argue that the former or current socialist countries, did it worse. That's fair. Doesn't change the fact their policies were a riff of Marxism. Which as we have established, is unworkable.
      There are other forms of socialism that haven't been tried yet. Furthermore plenty of countries have adopted various socialist policies and done fairly well for themselves. The Nordic countries, while still mostly capitalist, have done amazing things with their left and yes socialist parties at the helm. The same can be said for the UK and France.
      Furthermore, you say adopted as if those aforementioned countries we in agreement that socialism was the way forward. With the exception of Venezuela, none of those aforementioned countries adopted their systems. For example Lenin and the Bolsheviks, seized power from the legitimately elected Mensheviks (Social Democrats) and Socialist Revolutionaries (Agrarian Socialists). Defeating the purpose of the revolution entirely. The Soviets had
      Lenin's version of socialism forced upon them, the same with Stalin’s, etc.
      In the case of adoption, it's going to go poorly if no one knows anything of economics. As in the case of Venezuela, and it peoples mind boggling dearth of basic economic knowledge. A phenomena which was present as far back as the 1930s.
      And what about countries that HAVE adopted socialism? Namibia is doing fairly well for itself, mind you it still is a post colonial African country. Nepal is another, and while it's not golden, it's doing a hell of a lot better on the freedom index than China. When we look at Nicaragua, it's primary issues stem from the fact that Daniel Ortega, just won't go away. Otherwise, it was doing ok.
      Having a free and open socialist society IS possible and by no means a foregone conclusion.
      That being said, is it practical currently, in the present?
      The answer is no.
      The best we can achieve right now, is a more radical form of social democracy. Probably based off a mix of the Swedish model and West German style social market. Maybe in the future a cooperative based market socialism will be possible.
      Actual marketless socialism, is currently not possible on a mass, or even moderate scale. Let alone communism. Capitalism is here to stay for the moment. So let's focus of making a more equitable and social form of capitalism, via that new radical social democracy.
      We can worry about that, rather than future possibilities.
