I had a near death experience riding my road bike on a flyover in Kolkata. Literally there was a huge gap in between the metal clamps and I almost came under an automobile. It’s been more than a year since that incident, and I still haven’t rode my bike since then, because of the trauma.
Technically it is illegal to climb flyovers in Kolkata on bikes, especially Maa flyover is risky if you are not careful on "tram-line" type metal clamps put in there. I also wouldn't censure anyone riding on that since the road below was in a very poor condition..
@@Tathagatchat Cycling on any major arterial roads in Kolkata is also illegal at before the lockdown. Yes. Deep aero wheels are heavier than normal rim wheels but studies show that the weight doesnt account much for the drag as much as the wind. Priority is always aero!!
Indian road conditions are the precise reason why I went for a gravel bike instead of a RB. Now, I have even gone tubeless considering how annoying a puncture can be if it is miles away from home/bike shop!
In the society where I live, the roads are cleaned, dark and paved. No potholes or bad cycling conditions and the roads normally don't stay wet for long after it rains as the roads are in slope shape and the water goes onto the sideways grass lawns of people. Cycling conditions are very good and not too much traffic as well so I'm planning to buy a road bike soon.
Totally feel this guy! Even I keep cursing the govt and it's corruption whenever such bad roads appears 😅. This is why I prefer wide tyres as 28cm on my road bike, a little compromise on the speed but ensures a comfy ride and avoids punctures too.

Get a hybrid like the trek DS2 or better yet a gravel bike. MTB is not necessary for these conditions. With a hybrid or gravel bike you will be able take on roads like these and still get some of the efficiency and the top end performance of road cycles.
Hey I like your videos especially the long distance ones and the tutorials ♥️ Quality content 👌🏼 I recently bought Triban 100 RC; can you please suggest me any tips on how to avoid getting punctured and take over all care of wheels?
@@yedukrishna6603 Hello! I wondered the same for a long time and surprisingly it does very brilliantly on Indian Roads! It doesn’t get frequently punctured although be careful of the terrain you ride on! I have rode it for 600+ km and not had a puncture yet! I have driven on worst of roads and even glass but luckily the tyres take the beating! The bike will take care of you, if you will take care of her. After every ride I check the rims, spokes, tyres and make sure I have properly inflated tyres; if you don’t maintain proper air pressure you are very likely to get punctured. In a nutshell: The bike is very good even on Indian Roads.
@@tanmaybhamre1284 Hey kind of a late response, but can you tell me about your experience with the jerks you feel when on shitty Indian roads? My rc100 keeps on getting puncture after it had its first puncture few days ago, had 3rd puncture in two days, not able to ride since last two weeks is so frustrating
Either your tire pressure is too low or you have some thorn stuck in the tire. On my Rockrider 520 i usually pump it up to 5 bars when riding on tarmac. Road bikers usually pump more... up to 9 for skinny road tires. And Park Tool has a very good instruction on dealing with different types of punctures and eliminating it's cause czcams.com/video/T0F_hibWHlU/video.html&ab_channel=ParkTool
Punctures on roadbikes can happen due to one of the few reasons. 1- pinch puncture. When the inner tube gets pinched between the rim and the bead of the tyre or rim and the face of the tyre you may get pinch punctures. Make sure your inner tube is seated properly before seating the bead of the tyre on the rims. 2- incorrect air pressure- roadbike tyres are slimmer and are made of thinner rubber. This provides higher speed and lower rolling resistance at the cost of puncture protection. Hence air pressure is essential to making sure that you don't encounter punctures. Road tyres are meant to be pumped at high pressures, a rock- hard tyre will snap the thorn or bend the nail trying to puncture it instead of letting the thorn/nail dig in through the wall. 3- foreign object stuck on the inner wall of the tyre. Whenever you fix a puncture, run your finger for any sharp objects that may have penetrated the tyre wall. If you encounter such an object, use tweezers or a pair of needle nose pliers to extract given object. 4- unseated rim tape/ loose spoke- if a spoke is loose it may puncture the tyre from within. If you notice a loose/broken spoke, replace the spoke and true the wheel using a truing stand, if you don't know how to replace spoke and true the wheel then take it to a mechanic. If your rim tape isnt covering the spokes, the sharp ends of a spoke may dig into your inner tube. Use a screwdriver to lift up the tape gently and place it on the exposed spoke... If you are running a tubeless ready rim setup but are still using an inner tube, then remove tape and apply fresh rim tape.
Try replacing the tube once. Some experts told these tubes are not repairable and same was my experience. I was also getting puncture every 2 days and after replacing the tube it got resolved.
Bro just go to cyclop.in . Im not sponsored by them or anything. I was looking for bicycles and found that they have all kinds of spare parts for cycles. You can also check out bumsonthesaddle.com

painting pavements where the VVVIPs are arriving next is maintenance here... it's not contractors but contractors who want to become VVIP and VVIPs who were once contractors. they both are entrusted with the task of vikas....😁
The reason I’ll never consider road bike over the MTB.
But his roadbike did not break. Also mtbs are slow and heavy.
Also the price
Get a hybrid like the trek DS2 or better yet a gravel bike. MTB is not necessary for these conditions. With a hybrid or gravel bike you will be able take on roads like these and still get some of the efficiency and the top end performance of road cycles.
Nossa parece onde moro São Gonçalo - RJ - Brasil 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
GRAVEL BIKE!

They are normal roads only, they just choose smooth segments
Hey I like your videos especially the long distance ones and the tutorials ♥️
Quality content 👌🏼
I recently bought Triban 100 RC; can you please suggest me any tips on how to avoid getting punctured and take over all care of wheels?
Does it frequently hey punchured ?
@@tanmaybhamre1284 thank you for your kind response
@@tanmaybhamre1284 Hey kind of a late response, but can you tell me about your experience with the jerks you feel when on shitty Indian roads? My previous bike lacked suspension like road bikes and even a small road bump would cause painful jerks to the bike. Is your road bike any good for that? Im thinking of getting a hybrid bike for this reason.
Good job Bro
Hello Prince. Enjoyed your video a lot. I need your help. I am planning to buy a road bike with Sora components. My dilemma is if I can use the brifters (drop bar brake levers) with my smallish hand. Your opinion Please.
Bro I am confused between Suncross racerstar 2.0, Firefox Tarmack and Hero octane iguana which should I consider?
And thanks you for your information 👍💯

Yeah buddy 😊
How much is ur roadbike? Should I buy mtb or roadbike like your area road?
Could you please mention your road bike model please and cost?
My rc100 keeps on getting puncture after it had its first puncture few days ago, had 3rd puncture in two days, not able to ride since last two weeks is so frustrating
Get your tyres checked whether they have any piercing inside them or your rim having any
I got first pungture after 355 km riding.....try to ride on clean road
