At 53 i too can remember the adds for Venom in the airgun mags , i also recall seeing an advert for Cindys Shooting shop advertising tuned Diana' s which they labeled Vixen.
You can tell that by how few are for sale compared to pcp, fashions change, but you can't shoot until you are good on a springer on open sights ( not used often enough), if you hunt the only true set up.
I’m 72 now and the names Dave Pope and Ivan Hancock brings back happy memories, I knew them well and remember Steve Pope when Dave brought him into the business. They were the last word in springers and genius is a word we used a lot when shooting anything they touched.

I'm glad someone has mentioned Ken Turner here, as he was the first person to develop the Lazaglide system and has worked with Venom in the early days, but his contribution is often overlooked.

Great show and great rifles!!! I did a barn find...a BSA Meteor . I think from the 60` because of the serial number: ND 8116 . I did not get any info`s about power or spring diameter or spare parts when I need some. Can you guys help me out?? What year is this rifle from and what fpe can I get from it .? Right now it does about 3.7 Joule.Is it about 2.5 fpe?? But accurate at 20yds !! 1/2 an inch group 10 shots with JSB 7 gr. 4.53 mm it likes!! Open sights are awful.I putted on a cheep red dot,so it works!! Keep your work as it is! I like the show !!!! cheers from Norway👍🤘
Great show and beautiful rifles!! U do great!! I own 2 HW 77k`s. One in .177 and one in .22 Both in sub 12. The .177 was 6 fpe and I got a 18 fpe spring, but that was a big down for me, because of the huge twang and vibrations. So I got a sub 12 spring and now it`s perfect.3. rifle is a FX Bobcat in .22 FAC beautiful "tecdriver" ...U aim U hit!! My last little plinker is a barn find. A old BSA Meteor. I think from the 60` cause the serial number,which is ND8116 Can you help me out what age it is, how powerful it was new and can I go 10-12 fpe??? Keep going guys!! Cheers from Norway👍
@@hotair4269 Maybe the HW90 could be compared with a Theoben and possibly a BSA GRT. I remember Lloyd and Tony were not keen on the 90, but have to say I tried shooting one in .22 and was quite impressed by it. The trigger isn't a rekord but worked well and it was accurate, I know gas springs can take a bit of getting used to and aren't to everyones liking, I generally prefer a coil spring, simple, and it works.
@@Beesa10 In my opinion the HW90 has some good points and also some not very good points. We have a Theoben video coming very soon & possibly we could do a comparison video with the 3 mentioned, could be fun :)
Thanks for this interesting overview. Perhaps someday someone will dismantle a rifle and show the actual work involved in such a Venom tune, explaining why each element and material used is beneficial.

i have a vmach tuned hw98 which is my favourate break barrel .

I suggest you take the two mono audio signals from the microphones and mix into a dual mono so both of your voices are in left and right channel.
