Oh dag, I love my RK96, the main things I want in a keyboard that seem to be really difficult to get all in one are a volume knob, keypad, and passthrough but my two minor gripes are the lack of easily accessible home/end buttons and the slight difficulty in changing modes. This fixes literally every problem I have. Damn I didn't want to buy a new keyboard just yet but here we are.
@@robbenvanpersie1562Don't buy anything from RK. Their battery have issues and will always broke down just days after the warranty period is over. Hell, I even cheap general logitects ovwler them. Atleast those last for years.
@@mindblockandroid During charging process, it just won’t charge properly once the battery was depleted, even if you use the cable that came with it. Even if you managed to get it to 100% (which in my case, could take as long as 8 hours), it would get depleted again to 0 after half an hour. Even ignoring the battery problem, the LED display was also pretty buggy. Mine had wrong dates displayed for example, and I’ve seen users complaining their layouts randomly changing to the mac version.
It is a Top Mount design with an ABS plastic shell. Also includes Poron Foam, IPXE Switch Dampener pad, the PCB in the middle and under that: Sound dampener Foam and a Silicone Dampener Pad... Hope that helps!
how does this compare with the rk96? Am I feeling behind when I got the rk96 compared to this keyboard? Can the rk96 match the quiet sound of typing with the s98
I am currently undecided between both! Budget is not an object, since there’s a small difference between both. I see that the S98 has a lot of small quality of life advantages over the RK96, but I would get peace of mind from the RK96 because it does not have a screen that could fail in the future. If you had to decide between both, which one would you prefer?
I’m having trouble connecting the device to the software, did you experience any connection issues? Is the factory USB-C cable not ideal and should I use another? Please help!
so I've just went through the same issues and for me, the problem was resolved when I did the USB connection. Even if you connect to the computer with the USB cord, you need to choose that option on the display screen. It's the squiggly purple icon. Hope this helps!
I’m wondering as well. 😑 the manuals say if you connect wired then it automatically adjusts to your computer’s time. It didn’t work for me at first; I unplugged/plugged and it worked but i don’t like that it uses 24 hour clock and idk if it can be changed. So I just use the GIF lol took me a while to figure out how that works lol that app is so confusing to me. Keyboard sounds amazing tho lol
It will automatically sync when it's put into wired mode and plugged into your PC. It should retain the time after you unplug it as it has a built-in battery. Only downside as mentioned is that it uses 24 hour time with no option to change it to 12 hour time. Maybe they will address that in a firmware update in the future.
If you press down the knob for 5 seconds, the date/time edit becomes functional. Once you are in this edit mode, you rotate the knob to pick which element you want to edit. Suppose you want to edit hour, keep rotating it until the hour flashes, press knob, change it by rotating right to increase and left to decrease, press knob again to lock. Repeat this process until you have edited all elements. Once done, press again for 5 seconds to lock the whole thing. It is there in the manual under the section "Operations on the Time Main interface".
I had to change the orientation to portrait in screen settings and I was able to see the stupid apply button finally then once installed I went back to landscape

I was actually looking into buying the S98! Could you elaborate on the battery issues? 😮

If it's a 96% keyboard, why did they call it the S98?
Good point 👍🏼
basing from their other 96% models such as the rk100 and rk96, i'd assume that it's probably because this specific board has 98 keys
AWesome, new keyboard! Always love a good gaming tech review! so thanks :)
Hey luke, can you explaine what is tap feature in the setting?
Are the Viridian Switches or Pale Green Switches better for a creamier subtle thock sound?
I have not had a chance to test their pale greens so I cannot say.
How can you mute the volume. Do you have to rotate the knob?
Only information I haven't been able to find, Is it a solid plastic or an aluminum shell design?

@@GalaxyTechReview That helps! Thank you for replying
That sounds a little bit better than my RK98. Sounds fuller.
sad the keycaps aren't see through
You can always replace them keycao sets are fairly cheap. Lol
might i ask what's the plate ? is it Polycarb ? or just Acrylic ? or plain Plastic ?
couldnt find that info either even on the oem website lol

Very similar accept for the screen to be honest, solid build and typing quality on both.

Nope, I had no problems with the factory cable, or others I have tried.

Yes
I'm having a little problem on changing GIF screen, I can't import or load a GIF it only show picture format. Can you help me?
that's odd it gives me an option to upload jpg, bmp, png and GIF..
can you connect to more than 3 BT devices at the same time?
up to 3 only.
Macbook Can not install the software Can you or someone help me please TT
it's not mac compatible T_T imo it's the biggest drawback of this keyboard, it's almost perfect especially for the price
Any idea how to set the time on the display? I can't find that option in the software.

is this keyboard has reactive keycap settings?
If you mean reactive lighting? yes it has a reactive lighting mode.
What kind of mods can i do on the keyboard?
You can mod whatever you want, really.
The software won't run on Mac. Help! 😭
simple. dont use mac
That apply button for gif does not fit in my small laptop screen 😑😑😑
And I can't resize the software window. What a stupid software

Change the resolution on the screen of your laptop that might help and then just change it back when you are done with the software?
