    In my opinion, I really like this. This vehicle knows what it is and isn't trying too hard to be something that it is not. I like how they massaged the front end to give it a more boxy and imposing look like that of its Yukon. However, I will zonk the turn-signals, they should be LED.

    I'm currently driving a '22 SLT model as a company rental. it's a nice little crossover but i felt that it needed some more pep to it. I did some research and was shocked that GM did away with the 252hp 2.0t and thought replacing it with a 170hp 1.5t would be a great idea on a 3500+ lb vehicle. the 9spd trans can only do so much.

    • @tomtalker2000

      Agreed...!!! It was a HUGE mistake on their part. Considering you have other car manufacturers which are providing 2 or more engine choices. I figure if Nissan can take a gamble and put a 3cyl turbo and squeeze 200hp & 225lbs torque out of it. What's GMC's excuse for not keeping the 2.0...? They went from segment leaders with that 252hp & 260lbs torque. To WAY BELOW currently. Either bring it back GMC or up the 1.5L too more respectable numbers. And by that i don't mean adding 5hp for 2023 models. It needs at least 190hp & 220lbs torque. That's not too much to ask for now is it...?

    Maaaaaaaan....GMC sure knows how to put together a package huh. But I feel like they missed an epic epic opportunity with making this a real offroad contender with not giving it more ground clearance, more power and more offroad cred...you hit the nail on the head when you said they could've made this rig a Blazer!!! Another massive missed opportunity for GM!!! Great review Joe and Lori!!! I'm gonna have to go with the RAV4 TRD for this one or better yet, put down a few more bucks and grab a 4Runner!!!

    • @manipularsilver
      @manipularsilver Před 2 lety

      You do actually get a bit of hidden ground clearance because the tires have a bigger diameter than the street models, but I agree, more would have been nice. Would have been nice to see a more rugged bumper lip, maybe sharper angled for better approach angles, offroad suspension would be nice, buffed up transmission cooling. Most people won't likely take it that offroad though, it's more of a softroader. I'm looking at the AT4 and comparing it to other vehicles and the fit and finish and nice tech stuff that it gets makes it a no-competition in my books. I wish it were quicker, but I won't complain at the gas pump.

It's a nice SUV don't get me wrong but the older vehicles last longer than the newer ones. Just my opinion. I saw the video that you've done about the STI, personally I like the older styles. so i test drove an SLE model ... and here is the break down.. it runs good, definitly not going to win a 1/4 mile race, but alot of ppl were concerned about being a 1.5L and the SUV being 3600lbs...
    well its more then enough it goes good.. if your looking for a daily cruiser to save money on gas and having something fully loaded like the AT4 and for the price compared to other SUVS this is the one to get.. i checked them ALL... and for the price this one is the most loaded and better looking...
    i currently have a v8 GMC sierra ( mine ), Cherokee V6 Trailhawk ( wife )
    to give ppl an example of fuel , i did the exact same route that i do for work for all 3 and here is the rundown
    GMC Sierra v8 it is 604$ / month
    Trailhawk V6 it is 320$ / month
    AT4 Terrain v4 it is 237.60$ / month
    plus keep in mind ill be paying maybe 20$ less a month on the AT4...
    so from the GMC to Terrain im saving 367$
    and from the trailhawk to the Terrain im saving 103$ with the 20$ less payments !!
    so for me it was a hands down.. i would have kept the wife trailhawk for myself and just traded the truck but since im saving 100$ plus more leg room.. we traded both.. she went with Trailblazer and i got the AT4 !!

    Great review as usual. Excellent rugged cross over with a truck appeal. Rav-4 and CR-V are so common Terrain is a nice change. However, major minus is tiny engine with tiny horse power. Mind boggling why GMC wouldn’t make a larger engine to make it more competitive with cookie cutter RAVs 4 and CR-Vs of this world. Also agree that plastic head up display is weird.

    Hey Joe and Lori, and the Raiti's Rides family, what’s popping, anyways how are y'all doing today? (I hope well).
    So the GMC Terrain AT4 is the “offroad” version/trim of the GMC Terrain. Now if you don’t know what the GMC Terrain AT4 is i don’t blame you. Anyways GMC is GM (General Motors) mid-brand (if that's a thing), and GMC is a level over Chevrolet, but a level lower than the Cadillac.
    And this vehicle shares most of its internals with the “basic” Chevrolet Equinox and the more “premium” Cadillac XT5, but there are still some differences like the badge (obviously), interior, and that the GMC Terrain is the only one that offers 3-rows of seats.
    Anyways the GMC Terrain AT4 is a good looking “off road” SUV (but it’s not everyone's cup of tea or coffee).
    Ok besides that what is your favorite Compact crossover SUV?
    Maybe the sibling rivalry like the Cadillac XT5, the Chevrolet Equinox or the easily forgettable *Buick* *Envision* (Buick is literally only alive because of China)
    Or maybe the competitors, let me know 🙃
    (Btw, doesn't the side view looks like the “new” BMW IX, like if this vehicle didn't came out in 2019 I would of thought that they were copying them)

The previous generation had sleek, stylish headlights whereas the 2022 lights are boxier and kinda clunky. GM should have focused on updating the interior of this 2022, as nothing has really changed since 2018. All digital dash with a larger infotainment system would have been nice. There are dangerous situations in which you want your car to be in neutral fast. I don't want to have to look for the button in an emergency. It's also WAY more satisfying to shift into gear. Buttons are terrible.

      I agree about the mileage but I have to say I traded the RAV4 hybrid for a terrain. The rav has issues with the gas tank, 8 recalls, uncomfortable seating for the passenger as it doesn’t adjust, rides rough and loud. The terrain is a lot quieter and smoother. The mpg isn’t as good and it isn’t as reputable as Toyota but I’m pretty happy.

      Please do your research on the Kia engine recall. My 3 year are old Sportage only had 34k miles and was in perfect condition. I suffered total engine failure. Kia was multiple class action lawsuits for faulty engines that have resulted in death, the vehicles catching on fire and in my situation. I got stranded on a swing bridge. They also wouldn’t offer a trade or loaner vehicle. Our Sportage was never fixed and we took a major loss getting out of that junker. That company put us through hell!

    The engine would keep me away from this one. 1.5L turbo will be very noisy and short on power when 4 people and gear on a trip. torque isn't bad number, but still soso for the size and weight and lower HP will affect it. Fuel economy he mentioned sucks. the 2.0L T (more power and better on fuel), or should be the one in here or a V6

    • @tomtalker2000
      @tomtalker2000 Před rokem +2

      It was a HUGE mistake on their part. Considering you have other car manufacturers which are providing 2 or more engine choices. I figure if Nissan can take a gamble with the Rogue and put a 3cyl turbo and squeeze 200hp & 225lbs torque out of it.
