give up.

  • This is just a concept; a perspective, so feel free to give your opinion.
    To give up is to cut off possibilities. To deny experiences you could’ve had. Some people may have never given up, as they never began to strive in the first place. Drifting. Cruising. Aimless. This is not to say we should all have grand quests we are willing to live and die for, however some passion within one’s life could be beneficial. And yet, how do we find passion? People tell us to chase our goals and never give up on our dreams, but what if we don’t have any dreams or goals? Are we lost? Empty? It is possible that we could reach fulfilment by finding something worthwhile and meaningful. To find the purpose that would ignite passion. But again, how do we find such a thing? I’m not entirely sure, however as far as I’m aware, discoveries are not made by remaining still and unwilling. In order to find this passion, we could actively push towards new understandings and experiences. This would allow us to reflect on what makes our existence positive and pure. Now you may ask, what if we never find the passion despite a lifetime of internal and external discovery? I suppose that would be disheartening, yet we will never know until we try. As I said originally, to give up is to cut off possibilities.

      I think this a big factor for many of us. It’s okay to push off or avoid our true ideas for now, but if we were to reach the end of our lives, the pain of regret would be far greater than any discomfort we would feel from trying. It’s difficult, but long-term procrastination will only make us feel worse about ourselves most of the time.

    For long I felt like my mind was telling me to quit, to stop everything and to give up. Somedays I am too tired to even talk to anyone. Somedays I can't get myself up to go to the gym or to study, so I let it be. If I'm tired I just appreciate my body telling me about it. When I stopped focusing on the negative aspects of life, I found peace. If I'm struggling, I know God is besides me. My depression has been cured by my way of living life. So whoever you are, reading this: I know you can get through it; whatever you're facing.

      Thank you for your comment and your words of encouragement for us all. You’ve done really well to get to where you are. Struggle is real, but you persevered. The days where you don’t want to do anything and you feel defeated are just as important as the days where you feel on top of the world. Everybody finds peace differently, if we are blinded by the dark the only option we have is to walk until we can see the light. To travel through the fog. It’s easier said than done sometimes but I hope we can all hang in there. Thanks again

On the stage where I don't know where to go, I'm always tired, tasks are not getting finished, and this very clouded brain makes me depressed. Thank you for your comment. Im sorry to hear you’re not feeling the best right now, you’re right, life is hard. You said you used to push yourself to your limits which can be a good thing, but sometimes it’s also counterproductive. As you say, you’re not sure where to go right now, and that’s okay. There’s still time to find your way. I wouldn’t put pressure on yourself to meet certain expectations, as you say maybe you need a break. You could possibly take this time to regenerate and figure out what you actually want out of your life, not just having goals but imagine the best case scenario that could happen to you and try to go from there. If everything went perfectly who would you be? That’s a difficult question to answer, and of course not everything will go perfectly, but from knowing what we want we can start to take one step at a time towards that desired future. Or not, I might be wrong. If needed look towards mental health/therapy services in your country as you may need professional help. I hope you can feel better some day. Take care

    Of those that succeed only a few are remembered, talked about, mentioned in books, media, or life. Of those that exist everyone has an impact, a snowball slowly falling down a snowy hill leading to an irreversible future. The matter of success is only what society says it is. If at the end, of the day, of your life you can look back and think you've succeeded in your goals or even just a goal then isn't that the definition of success?
    Your dream may be forgotten but it may still exist whether subtly in the unconscious of our minds or in a more modern form.
    For those who can't dream, what else is there to do but live? And try to enjoy the world to its fullest and allow others to do so. In hope that this world becomes worth living.
    Just my thoughts, nice video, I like the different perspectives!

    • @ibrahimshafiqq
      @ibrahimshafiqq  Před 2 měsíci

      I agree with you, thank you very much for your words and time. Success is subjective, yet often people suggest that to be successful you need to be rich and popular/famous. I think it’s interesting how you’ve highlighted that everyone can succeed in their own way without having to prove their worth to others. We don’t have to strive for a grand collection of trophies or materialistic possessions, instead we can aim to live true to ourselves whilst considering the wellbeing of those around us. Wow. Thanks again, your comment made me think I appreciate it. As you say, everyone has their part to play and together we can make this existence better for a wider range of people. Of course it’s not necessarily easy or straightforward, but taking one step at a time could provide the potential for a more well-rounded world (not to say it isn’t good in many ways already).
      Not everyone has to be a big dreamer; choosing to smile at someone can help “save” the world.

    • @ibrahimshafiqq
      @ibrahimshafiqq  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your comments! I saw your other one “ok I just gave up cuz of this vid” and that’s understandable. I agree burnout is a major factor and this idea of pushing as hard as you can and never back down can be counterproductive. I think this tryhard stoicism mentality has been projected a lot through inspirational/self-improvement content, making us feel that if we take our foot off the gas slightly for a second then we’re weak and we will never achieve anything, which isn’t the case. Like you say sometimes dedicating efforts for as long as possible might build discipline, but it doesn’t always lead to fulfilment or results. If I wanted to achieve a goal, I could put 24 hours a day towards it, but after a day I would pass out from exhaustion. We need balance to thrive. It’s not about sprinting as fast as possible. It’s about having multiple elements of your life aligned to allow you to feel and do better. Rest is important. Enjoyment is important. Work is important. Nutrition/hydration/sunlight/social interaction is important. I’m sorry to drag this reply out, I wanted to end it with an idea that even if you drop your efforts and you decide to watch tv or eat something you shouldn’t or stop trying for a week/month/year, you haven’t necessarily given up. You’ve only given up when you don’t give yourself any more chances to try. Sometimes we do have to let go, but it doesn’t we’ve given up. Maybe your goal isn’t right for you, maybe you just need time to think, maybe you need time to breathe, maybe you just need time to exist, and that’s how you’re getting by for now. Have a good day/night/life. Sorry for the long comment. Thanks again! =)

    Absolutely loved the journal transition shot in the beginning. I also really liked how you switched and transitioned between like you with a messy beard, stubble and a clean shave to show progression and different times. I liked how you talked abt even when you want to give up you cant and get back to it or else you wouldn't know what your life could have looked like, i interpret that as not reaching expectations you have from yourself. Just the fact that most people dont have the privilege to give up is well highlighted too, when you talk abt working a job you don't like to get groceries. The last line tho i think was the most beautiful "as long as we are trying, potential is constant". Good job bro

    • @ibrahimshafiqq
      @ibrahimshafiqq  Před 2 měsíci

      I’m grateful for your words and appreciation. I liked the journal pages part too. I can’t really remember how I decided to do that, not that it’s the most original approach but when I’d done the first 20 seconds of this vid I was like “wow that’s cool ‘o’ “. Sound effects help as well, not that I used that many in this video. The different stages and perspectives of ‘someone’, ‘someone else’ and ‘something’ do contrast each other well I think, however I believe I could’ve used my voice more - my speech is generally pretty monotonous so it’s difficult to clearly express different emotions sometimes haha. Then again I could just try harder. Your idea about how myself (and most likely others) have certain expectations of ourselves is a nice concept. It’s like we believe we are capable of more, or we at least want to see what we are capable of. But, if we give up our expectations will never be met, no matter how reasonable/unreasonable they are. This idea of giving up being a privilege wasn’t my main focus. I’m glad you brought this up. For me it was more about how if we truly give up on aspirations and just live day by day with nothing on our agenda our lives would probably start to deteriorate as a result. There’s a bodybuilder called Tom Platz who asked “If you give up on your dreams what do you have left? Nothing! :(“ I’m not sure if this is entirely true, but you get the idea. You are right. To give up and drop all efforts is a privilege. There are people in situations who live and get up every day purely for their family. The father who works 100 hour weeks to bring his family food. The single mother who has 4 young children. People in many circumstances have no choice - they have to keep going because they care for the people around them, and are willing to do what it takes to provide a potentially better future for their loved ones. Sorry if that got a bit dark lmao. Thanks again. Take care.
