- In this video I give a short tour and test drive of a 2006 Ford Expedition XLT. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this suv while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I show the suv idling as well as take it on a thorough test drive through the city and highway on various surfaces. A thorough drive of this suv designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I love how that 5.4 Triton sounds when the RPM's settle down.
I've owned one of these for the last 3 years. Been a really great ride. Nothing fancy in XLT trim. I don't even have leather, which has probably been a blessing as far as the seat holding up. Mileage is 12 city and about 16-17 on the highway provided you keep it at 80 mph. 28 gallon tank. I rarely rev this above 2.5K and keeps up with traffic no problem. On long rides, most of my passengers have no problems falling asleep (its quiet and spacious). It is a truck frame, and sometimes drives like a truck, but overall it seems a lot quieter under normal conditions than an F150. Keep an eye on gears when buying since there are some optional gearing, mine is the 2wd low gear version which limits towing to just 6K! Something you gotta watch if you want to haul, which is one of the reasons to get one of these in the first place. These things depreciate like crazy, which makes them a great value to pick up used if you can find a bargain. For $5-$7K, I would recommend one compared to some of the alternatives in that price range.
12 city ? our 2014 Toyota Vios can't even reach 11/city.
HVABALL you push your truck to 80 and still get 17 MPG? My Ranger 4.0L doesn't do that well when speeding at 70-75 MPH (65 MPH highways in my state
maybe I'll actually save gas when I put my Expedition on the road
CountryBoy85 i had a mazda 3.0L (same truck) in the 90s. sticker said 15/21. i got the 15, but never 21. that truck was like 17 hwy, so i could imagine what the 4.0L is. not great on gas, given its a small truck with a 6 cylinder. i think it was the gearing. i live in florida and the highway limit is often 70 which means 78- 80 cruise and you will be holding up traffic at that speed in the left lane. packs of drivers come by at 85-90 and if i need to pass a line of traffic i will stay with them. ive been up north, people drive fast there too. florida is a long state, it would take forever at 60mph! mileage in the expy at 60mph is closer to 19... but i might get shot at that speed! (or your view will be the rear end of a semi). my lesson with the ranger was "get a full size truck", sorry. that being said, my 2wd expy in the snow or ice would be a right wheel spinner.
HVABALL my Ranger is a super cab 4x4 and in rural driving with small tires (235 75 R15) 3.73 gears I'd get a consistent 19.5 MPG every week. My channel actually has a video of my truck working.
When I used the truck for work it got a lot of long distance use. Towing a small open utility trailer with construction materials or debris she towed great but the brakes quickly became overwhelmed and the fuel mileage dropped big time. The tiny 18 gallon fuel tank meant that when towing I'd have to stop for fuel every 180 to 200 miles! What a pain. Hope the Expedition I'm buying works for me. She's a 2003 with a 2V 5.4L 4x4 and I know the owner is a friend who's a parts guy at a large wholesale autoparts place
This was one of the best test drives I've seen. I really got a good feel for how the truck handles in real-world driving.
best....start up sound.....ever
I'm lucky I get to hear it whenever I want :D Good ol' Tritons
I love the sounds of 5.4 TRITON V8 and the sounds that come out the engine.
I completely forget the startup of our expedition and this brings memories. I hope to get ours running again
Thank you! I'm not fan of big trucks but You convinced me to get me one of those! Great video
I recently noticed that in 2005, the Expedition and Navigator got a slight refresh. The refresh was a new gauge cluster for the Expedition and Navigator they both got a new door chime that was quieter and less annoying!
This is one of my favorite cars
Awesome video like always. The Expedition looks like it's awesome condition. I gotta tell you those speed sensitive door locks are awesome.
hahaha, I love how you settle on Love Shack on the radio.
Once again, great test drive.
great ride man! love this suv! 5/5
Best channel on CZcams. It's always a good video when your kitty cat makes an appearance!
Ur cool man! I been a car buff since age 12 reading all the necessary consumer magazines and love the way u cover them. Especially love the way I can hear all the chimes on the vehicles u test lol! Had a thing 4 that since I was little lol! Wish I lived in ur area so we could hang out and debate lol!
thanks for the review
My family has this car and it is great. My mom drive it for the first 197K miles and now has passed it on to me. it is still going strong and we haven't ever had any problems with it even as it is nearing 200k miles!
I liked when It was playing puddle of Mudd
The 03-06 models feels much bigger on the road when comparing it to the 07-12 models. I would know, I driven both. Honestly, I would much rather drive the 03-06 rather then the new ones.
Definitely a solid built SUV from Ford. They last very long if properly maintained and will plow through mostly anything. Love the sound of the V8 🇺🇲💪🏽
love the sound of ford's 5.4 liter engine
Great video Kyle! I wish you could do a test drive video for the newer model expeditions
My parents have a 2004 expedition eddie bauer and they let me drive it sometimes. I love the sound of the engine. I'm my own soon.
friend of mine has one like this, loves it.
Seems like thse 4.6 and 5.4 V8's are run so quiet and I love that little wine noise they make when you accelerate. I like those quiet running engines. I saw your videos on the Ford Crown Vic, Lincoln Towncar, and Mercury Grand Marquis, they all sound and drive the same. I watched the test drive vid you did on the 2002 Ford Focus and I gota say it was quite a lot louder running.
The wife and I bought our 99 Ford Expedition 4 wheel drive brand new and still have it to this day over 20yrs ago and runs like it did off the show room floor,
She is a gas hog for sure.
But still the Best truck or suv we have ever owned keep up with the maintenance and she will last you forever or damn close to it!!!
even though it doesn't have those 2 extra gears, it still has pretty descent acceleration. We might be getting one depending what it has. I'm hoping we go check it out soon. we live like 4 blocks from the dealership where its being sold from.
nice man !more test drives on your channel!
Another great test drive kyle, Like to see more of the "Test Drives".....good job keep it up :P......btw...nice cat, looks similer to one of my old cats.......its a shame Ford Don't sell the Expedition in the UK......you see a few, but not a lot :), thanks again.
i love these trucks, hell i like ford period. I have a 2009 ford expedition king ranch 4x4 along with my superduty king ranch and i have to say, i love my expediton. When i don't fell like driving my diesel, i tow my boat with my expedition, it can tow 9,200 lbs max. I love the auto trac 4WD. Take my expedition in the woods when it's time for hunting.
the 2003-2006 Ford Expedition XLT was assembled in
Wayne, Michigan, United States
thanks guy foe ford explorer
Ive always wanted an expedition. I got to drive my teachers 2008 expedition, fully loaded, and I fell completely in love with it lol. My only complaint is that its poor at manuvering through tight spaces....but thats just me because im not use to driving vehicles that large lol
Beastly
Has anyone had any problems with the rear doors? Something broke on the doors and now can’t open from inside or out? Any help appreciated
Nice Expedition man :)
im getting this exact same truck tomorrow!!
***** You can consider it a truck because it's a body on frame SUV based on a truck platform.
So how is it??
That One Ford Guy dude its awesome runs very strong. 4X4 works great i love it.
Haha I knew you would. Expeditions are SOLID SUV'S
Solid trucks...
The interior looks much better in the newer expeditions like this one compared to the older ones, I'm not a fan of the late 90's ford interiors, bold and wierd with alot of plastic. But this one looks great as i said.
My mom is a 2006 for Expedition Eddie Bauer XLT with a 5.4 Triton V8
Ahh so nice without road noise!!!
awesome suv but can you drop the tire size cause im 5'7 and i cant get up in them ?
Is it just me or do the starters on these 5.4 engines sound beefy or what? LOVE IT!!!!
glad i'm not hungover trying to watch this. too quick to see the engine, but was that smoke coming out the tailpipe? i don't need to hear the sound system, i'm more focused on that engine idle/ putter sound
@Deutschbassist... i'd say about 475 miles.. it really does have good mpg... so yah, im planning to get one too..
@Ethan G Its Blurry by Puddle of Mudd
Good condition considering the mileage!
Kyle do a test drive only video of the 2012 Ford Expedition King Ranch. That's what my Dad has. It is big and rommy so please Kyle. I will try to give all your videos likes if you do that ok. Fwi, I loved your 2005 Dpdge Caravan video with the test drive. So keep it up. F
i love fords
NICE SONG AT 7:34
Nice cat man !
@FaaumuPride That's because it has a monsterous gas tank (32 1/2 gallons) to be specific.
My aunt had a 2006 Expedition Limited with the black headlights. Was it ever a nice ride.
PLEASE do a review of a new expedition limeted please!!!!!! Thanks Kyle!
I'm really interested in getting an Expedition. When fully gased up, how many miles do get before the it gets back on E? I am doing some research and in IL, gas is 2.68 a gallon.
Thanx
looks just like my expedition but without the leather, pin stripe, and mine has the tube step bars.
3:56 Love shack!!
I think it would be cool to leave the middle seats both folded up and just have passengers sitting in the 3rd row like it's a limo. Wish I could see a video of that.
1997 5.4 with 206,000 ...runs great...uses less than a qt. of oil....
Великолепный автомобиль .
Hey Kyle, Can you do a ford fusion years anywhere from 2008-2010?
Thanks. I just can't wait until Ford comes out with a HYBRID Expedition to compete with GM's Hybrid Tahoes and Yukons. I'm sure a lot of people would trade them in to get a hybrid Expedition.
loveshack!! that's where's it at!
@xxTornadowarrior1xx the gages look sooooo much better
love shack by the b52's LOL
i find it weird how in 06 they had the older body style but the newer gauges its like they didn't fully know how to transition like they did with the explorer.
Sounds like my 06' Expedition
This is a 06.
You should do a Geo metro 1.0l!
@fieldsky12 My expedition has Auto Trac 4WD. I love that system. Don't know if that's where you were getting at, but why not tell you.
Can you please do a 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer test drive
Wow I'm not that weird lol! I usually dont talk bout it with others cuz yea theyll think Im weird lol! Ive always thought the chimes create an aura bout the car.I also wonder when they 1st started using them.Think it was Cadillac round 78 or so when they downsized their fullsized models. They had the right idea!
Can you do a tour, Kyle?
where is it?????
Can u show a 2012 expedition
The govenors change through the years. I got mine changed to 140 MPH, but Highest i got is 135 MPH.
the ford expedition is a nice truck SUV why the ford expedition 98 has less RPM and less speed?
@jpg42893 yeah gotta love this channel, does a great job!
Can you do a 2012 expedition
i want that
@fffffaaaaaaaarrttttt i have a 2009 Ford Expedition King Ranch 4x4 with the 5.4 331 ci v8 in it, and your right, they do run. I love these trucks, wouldn't have any other full size suv, even navigator since they are made by ford ( Ford Lincoln, Mercury CO.)
hmm exactly like mine even the white color, exept i do not have pin stripping, and i have chrome clad rims and my engine is not as clean as that one lol.
Nice cat.
this truck has a tall ass 1st gear.....damn
When th camera shakes, it sounds like a Geiger counter.
have a 97 with 180k runs strong
+Cameron Witt Any problems with the transmission?
The Cat 😁🐈
Why do you always back your cars in?
@saabkyle04 i love these trucks. I've had every generation up until persent day. I'd buy these trucks before anything. I have a infiniti QX56, but my wife drives it, don't care about it. I love my ford trucks (2009 ford expedition king ranch 4x4, 2009 ford f-250 superduty king ranch 4x4). When you do somemore vids, please state if the vehicle is 4WD or not, and if it is, please state what kind of 4WD system it has. Thanks. Love Auto Trac 4WD. Both my trucks have it!
@Deutschbassist No, i wouldn't trade mines in, i like the american tradition of pure power, not some batteries and a computer to help save gas. I've worked for Ford Motor Co. for a while, and we always said, keep the mechanicals the same. But if they did come out with a hybrid, that would be a heck of a competition!
It's gotta be fun being you lol
becauses it prob just got the big tune up 90-100k miles ands thats high, 97k for a 2006 wow
Is a 2006 Ford Expedition a four wheel drive or?
Comes in both 2wd and 4wd. This one in video is 4wd due to the selector knob on dash near shifter. I had a 4wd which had a 3.73 rear end and drove the 2wd with he 3.31 and the power and acceleration is night and day. If looking for fuel economy then 3.31 may be a better option(Not that the Expedition is fuel efficient). If needing to sporadically tow, drive in snow/mud/dirt then 4wd 3.73 in my opinion. If taken care of they will last. Sold my 06' about six years ago and 260k miles still in excellent running condition and everything working. I do miss it though.
my dad has a 2005 I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
it has the exact same engine infact im gonna see what the differences is fast en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Expedition#2005 No major cosmetic or mechanical changes. Last year model for the U222. The Gentex auto dimming rear view mirrors were updated. Two new exterior colors were added later on within the model year. They were Pewter metallic and Dark Copper metallic. Medium Flint grey interior was also added to Limited models later on within the model year. Chrome tipped exhaust was made standard on King Ranch models. 2006 would be the last year model for the NBX trim. The ultrasonic rear park assist and SafetyCanopy side curtain airbags were offered as standalone options. Adjustable headrests were also added to the front seats to replace the one piece units.
Also for those who dont know the thing at 1:45 with the 3 big wiring harnesses is the ECU computer.
My dad has a 2000 expedition
What is the song at 3:18?!?! PLEASE HELP
Darude - Sandstorm

Если вместо зелёной подсветки приборов сделать белую, будет ещё лучше.

I like SUVs that sound like a truck and drive like one
