Congrats on getting into nursing school! I am a nurse myself. Just a word of advice, don’t take out more in student loans than you will make in your salary as a first year nurse. Private nursing schools are dangerous and nurses are graduating with 6 figure debt for a degree that pays on average $77,000 a year. It’s impossible to pay off before retirement. Public nursing school is the way to go. Apply for as many scholarships as possible. And finally, never under any circumstances take out private student loans, they offer no protections and can do what they want with the payment and rates. Remember that student loans (aka the United States federal government)are the most dangerous loans anyone can take out. They can never be bankrupted. They will follow you for the rest of your life unless one of 2 things happen - either they are paid off or the student dies. They can garnish your social security and take your tax refunds if you default. I paid mine off finally ($62,000) and Im almost 50. It took forever because of the interest. Student loans charge interest on the interest. Best of luck to you in nursing school.

I am really hoping that my Pell will cover the cost of these next 4 semester since I have quite a bit of that left so I don’t have to add on to what I already spent on my current shenanigans of a degree but since I should qualify for independent now that I have Anorah I should not have to touch private loans though I have considered it in the past but hopefully if anything crazy happens like financial aid falls through I’m more than willing to do what I have to in order to afford it out of pocket, I did check my city’s community college but they do not have ABSN so my current university is the next best option as it is public so the price isn’t too off so hopefully everything falls into place 🤞🏽🙌🏾 thank you so much for watching and taking the time to enlighten me 💪🏽💰it definitely helps solidify me into the mindset of getting in and getting out the cheapest way possible ☺️💞

Come be a nurse is NORTHERN CA. Easily gonna pay off my student loans. We pay nurses the best and the cost of living isn’t the typical “California” cost of living. Went to private school ($46k for those wondering). Best of luck in School! You’ll do great and nursing will be a blessing ❤️
One thing I would recommend doing is saving about $500-$1k in your emergency fund before you start tackling the debt! That way, if something goes wrong, you won't have to put it on your cards while trying to get out of debt

I like that although you are trying to get your debt paid off, you are also accounting for those other things that you know will come up and you will spend on regardless like outings. Being realistic and allowing space for fun things will help your journey to actually work and keep you from resenting it.

I’ve never related to a budgeting video so much before. I got my bachelors in health science back in 2018, joined the military in 2020, had a baby in 2022, got out of the military and started nursing school this year. Although I receive money from the VA every month for school through my GI bill, it’s still a huge decrease in income and I’ve accumulated so much debt this semester. But your positive outlook on your debt gives me hope for mine. I can’t wait to follow your journey!

Congratulations on the baby girl and Nursing School! Please ask your daycare if they offer monthly or biweekly payments (some daycares offer a discount for paying for the full month up front) and sometimes they also offer discounts for nurses, teachers, students, and even if you have specific bank/credit union memberships. And they don't always tell you, you have to ask specifically.

My son came 3 months early too. He was 1 lb 4 oz. He turns 16 next month . He was in the NICU for roughly the same amount of time at your daughter .

I am beginning my cash stuffing journey next year as well, already have my envelopes ready to go! 2023 was a tough year financially for me bc it is my first year living alone on a single income, I've had multiple instances where by the time my next paycheck came in my bank account would be overdrawn. I am making it my goal to cut out unnecessary spending and make 2024 a better year financially for me and I feel like it would be easier for me to do to if I begin cash stuffing rather than aimlessly swiping my debit card for every purchase.

Save your daughter’s binder because you both are going to need it. I was thinking using completed savings challenge funds to allocate the funds to her binder. Concerning that savings tracker A6, that didn’t fit? We have two different A6 sizes. Yeah. I know. Very confusing.

Congrats on nursing school! I know the big number of debt looks scary, but it will help you to see if there's a way to consolidate your debt. preferably with the account that offers the lowest interest. You can do this.

There are different are different punches that you can get for an A6.. one is an A6 personal size and the other just A6… the difference between the two is the central spacing. I found this out when I ordered some thing and it didn’t fit. The seller was nice enough to remake it for me.
