My mom had a widow maker a few months ago, too -- it's fucking terrifying. typically the first symptom is death. like most of us I've been a fan of Kevin since Clerks -- thank god he is ok!!!! xoxoxo
just survived a heart attack, back home now recovering, already made major changes in my lifestyle but all I could think about throughout was " I neeed to watch that Kevin Smith interview again only REALLY pay attention this time " glad I found my way back here to watch it one more time xx thank you
I'm a minute and a half in, and I'm so proud to be from the same state as this dude. This is a film maker and actor that completely defies the Hollywood mentality: completely honest, funny and humble. Love him, glad to see he's recovering so well.
There is an extremely important message here delivered with delightful humor! It is great that Kevin listened to his body and got lifesaving medical attention! I went to the ER six years ago and got two stents for two almost totally blocked coronary arteries! Do NOT dismiss chest pain! Maybe it IS heartburn but if it’s not...ol’ Grim Reaper’s gonna lead you away! Kevin’s taking charge of his weight situation and diet makes him as powerful as ANY comic book superhero! I never get tired of listening to this wonderful success story of survival! Learn the symptoms of a heart attack. They can differ but check out any red flag symptom!
kevin smith has an actual place in my heart. jay and silent bob shaped my entire childhood, adolesence and adulthood. thanks to kevin smith and that jay fucker.
Kevin, we love you. I haven't gone completely vegan, bit 90% and lost 80 lbs. Fasting is also a key tool. You look amazing, I am so glad you are in the 20%, and your work is timeless. From one mensch to another, keep on keepin' on.
So happy he is alive cause he represents the child in me and idk who could give me the fix plus he can live and love his family but mostly give me my fix
I fucking love that they raised the contrast I'm this video. I always have my screen brightness at like 15 percent so it's nice to be able to see what's happening.
As a vegan, and former non-vegan, I understand the hate. No one wants to surrender the food they like, feel like they're being told what to do, or what they're doing is wrong. However, it is easier to be vegan now than ever and the benefits to your health are significant. Most people don't feel the effects until their 40s. Once I made the change, I felt so much better.
Jayyy Zeee u are partly right. This is my take. People should eat MOSTLY vegan stuff. But with some bit of meat or sumthin like that. A lil is good far ya
Notice how he is almost always standing in his interviews since his attack. Standing uses way more calories than sitting. So he is taking his health seriously now.
I saw in live at Helium, he mentioned he hates sitting in interviews or on stage because he feels like he looks like Java the Hut. Even after loosing 80 lbs from a no sugar diet (before his heart attack) he had body shame issues.
Wanted to say thank you. I never thought about what food I eat until I was older. I lost 35 pounds. Didn’t go vegan but fasting and things helped. I wasn’t a huge dude but was unhealthy and it helped.
@kevinsmith Thanks for sharing. Just spent Chrisrmas 2019 diagnosed with Kawaski disease, never knew I had it. Wanted to do 5 artery bybass. On Christmas day I was released with only medication. Best Christmas eve. I will probably need at some time. I smoked cannabis since I was 13. I have no plaque. I think weed has helped save my life. Again thanks for sharing.
I love how honest and open he is when talking. Like, whatever embarrassment he may have about it is overridden by his love of sharing and telling stories (and maybe attention, heheh).
Kevin looks great. I hope he lives a long and happy life, you can tell he's a genuine down to earth guy and he makes great movies! "Oh no, here comes Silent Bob with the undersuck" LOL
Was gonna ask why the title didnt have Brian Johnson and now i know. Itd been cool to hear him talk a litter. He's the "just there for witty side comments" guy.
ua re not supposed to feel" heavy" after eating a Meal...thats when u have allready overeaten...try to eat slow so ur stomach has the chance to send the "iam good and full" signals to u brain...so u dont overeat anymore
Skipping breakfast seems to be very effective for maintaining weight. It's the one thing that easily sticks in my habits, even when I lapse in my diet focus for weeks. Keeps the scale stable, in my experience.
Kevin is a good egg. Wasn't bored for a single second listening to his heart attack story. Takes a good storyteller to make that entertaining as well as interesting for 40 minutes. Still remember seeing Clerks for the first time. Fuckin' hilarious.
holy SHIT, Bryan Johnson... he looks like he's 25 again (well not in the face). I stopped watching Comic Book Men after like season 2, but I remember even before they started it, Kevin talking about how Bryan was in a real bad place, had largely given up on life, he told him once "I've got one foot on the stool", and he was majorly overweight. He still was very much so back when last I saw CBM (although at least he obviously had a steady gig and was having some laughs), but he not only lost ALL the weight, he looks straight up buff. Good for him, I wish to hell I could do that. Well, I don't at all need to be "buff", but it is hard as fuck getting rid of this 42 year old gut of mine (that literally none of has come from beer, btw)
Kevin is so relatable. Watching this podcast, it's easy to forget he's a big-time writer/director whose actually worth millions. Seems he would be right at home, whether he's in a Hollywood mansion pitching an idea for a film to a group of uber-wealthy studio heads, or smoking a cigarette outside a convenient store in a run-down neighborhood talking to degenerates and drug-dealers.
Damn, I'm kinda worried about my heart as well. I've noticed I get short breathed easily. I dig the cheeseburgers and a host of other things I'm not supposed to be eating. God I hope I don't need stints. There's got to be a natural way to get rid of this blockage stuff.
Holy shit harley is gonna be 19? I remember her beeing the little chubby girl dante waved to in clerks 2 Say what you like about kevs movies but he is a all around great guy who you can listen to talk for hours
Vitamin B12 is from soil bacteria, there is so much soil eaten by Cows, Beef is high in B12, live B12 Bacteria in your colon processes fibre into B12. So, eating the dirt on your veggies cuts out the Cow, just make sure and eat lots of plant fiber. #cickpeasRock try pan fried [ saute ] tinned butter beans in roast nut oil and crushed or fine chopped chili. Kevin Smith is a great story teller.
I had the exact same experience when I had my wisdom teeth taken out.
NodiWolf yeah too bad this ain’t in the special.
Oh man, you're gonna get crucified for that unpopular opinion
NodiWolf i know right? I love his "evening with" spoken word specials. Hes been doing them since the 90s and ive loved them since i was a small boy
ya too bad hes talking about the most boring shit in this video lol
Kevin is a good guy, I've always liked him a lot. ♥
Wow, good one.
Kevin Smith is one of the coolest people alive. Very down to earth and humble
queefer sutherland "(edited)" made me laugh. Like you're a fucking poet.
My mom had a widow maker a few months ago, too -- it's fucking terrifying. typically the first symptom is death. like most of us I've been a fan of Kevin since Clerks -- thank god he is ok!!!! xoxoxo
Damn what a doc! Cured body shame and successful heart surgery in one fell swoop!
just survived a heart attack, back home now recovering, already made major changes in my lifestyle but all I could think about throughout was " I neeed to watch that Kevin Smith interview again only REALLY pay attention this time " glad I found my way back here to watch it one more time xx thank you
But you seem too young to have had a heart attack!! Also I'm assuming you're not overweight. Is it genetic?
I always LOVED Kevin Smith and his movies.. I am so happy he made it through!! Thank God He is still here!! 😀😀😀😀
queefer sutherland. What? Having a positive point of view.. Nothing about this conversation is not positive..
I don’t enjoy his movies very much, but he is a great dude!

I could listen to Kevin Smith talk, for days.

queefer sutherland Man, even the universe will eventually die! Lol
queefer sutherland I am dead inside!
Kevin, we love you. I haven't gone completely vegan, bit 90% and lost 80 lbs. Fasting is also a key tool. You look amazing, I am so glad you are in the 20%, and your work is timeless. From one mensch to another, keep on keepin' on.
Kev has always been so inspiring. Lifelong fan.
Haven't seen Bry in a looong time, didn't know he lost all the weight. Looks fucking amazing.
Love this guy and so happy for his family.

Kevin is a fantastic human being.
queefer sutherland I wouldnt marry the dude buy i would prolly blow him
I needed this!
K am crying now haha , good tears, thank yu Kevin, watching this is REALLY helping with my own healing
I fucking love that they raised the contrast I'm this video. I always have my screen brightness at like 15 percent so it's nice to be able to see what's happening.
I am so releaved he is well and is getting healthier. "Chasing Amy" and "Clerks" are among my most favorite movies.
As a vegan, and former non-vegan, I understand the hate. No one wants to surrender the food they like, feel like they're being told what to do, or what they're doing is wrong. Jayyy Zeee You won't after your body runs out stuff to autophage.
volvo245, What do you mean? Can you tell me more?
Jayyy Zeee u are partly right. This is my take. People should eat MOSTLY vegan stuff. But with some bit of meat or sumthin like that. A lil is good far ya
Jayyy Zeee trust me this is as good a deal as u will get
glad your back and doing well kevin piece out
Kevin looks great. Glad he is doing better. Always been a great story teller.
Oh shit Bry looks really good too! They both look great! Love seeing these guys on here
Tyler Lacroix I thought the exact same thing. Getting closer to winning the Alan Moore look-a-like contest every day.
Yeah, he looks kinda jacked.
This is like 90's Bry. Damn he looks fit.
Me too. I just wish we got to hear Bry more
So uncomfortable they don't acknowledge him for like the first 6 minutes..
Good man! Love this guy
Kevin is a funny guy hope his health is ok.
Notice how he is almost always standing in his interviews since his attack. Standing uses way more calories than sitting. So he is taking his health seriously now.
I do believe he used to do that in the olden days too. I remember him Standing on the Joe Rogan experience too.
I saw in live at Helium, he mentioned he hates sitting in interviews or on stage because he feels like he looks like Java the Hut. Even after loosing 80 lbs from a no sugar diet (before his heart attack) he had body shame issues.
haha "Java"
The commentary from Jim and Sam make the story even better lol.
Wanted to say thank you. I never thought about what food I eat until I was older. I lost 35 pounds. Didn’t go vegan but fasting and things helped. I wasn’t a huge dude but was unhealthy and it helped.
Great to see Kevin looking well !

Kevin Smith inspires me.
Very funny and a great story teller!
Great segment
ua re not supposed to feel" heavy" after eating a Meal...thats when u have allready overeaten...try to eat slow so ur stomach has the chance to send the "iam good and full" signals to u brain...so u dont overeat anymore
Hiosho ... word up. properly chewing helps with this / digestion as well.
yeah lol this guy eats like a fucking caveman.
Skipping breakfast seems to be very effective for maintaining weight.
It's the one thing that easily sticks in my habits, even when I lapse in my diet focus for weeks. Keeps the scale stable, in my experience.
I saw Yoga Hosers the other day, and I enjoyed it.
What's the difference between a chick pea and a garbanzo bean? I never paid a garbanzo to bean on my chest.
Hilarious interview. I'm so glad Kevin is doing OK.
How many people can be that chill while having a massive heart attack?
Kevin is a good egg. Wasn't bored for a single second listening to his heart attack story. Takes a good storyteller to make that entertaining as well as interesting for 40 minutes. Still remember seeing Clerks for the first time. Fuckin' hilarious.
I was way too high listening to this last night
I love this guy.
queefer sutherland If he’s up for it.
holy SHIT, Bryan Johnson... he looks like he's 25 again (well not in the face). That's one badass doctor and group of firefighters.
Kevin is so natural at telling stories
so glad kevin made it
Kevin is so relatable.

Cant believe he was so calm when it happened. I'd be a mess.
He was stoned. X'D (of course)
Da Do you usually are when it happens. I had a pulmonary embolism and when youre in the hospital its all very matter of fact
Sounds like you came out alright. Did it go as smoothly as you hoped?
Kevin and Bry should read this comment section when they feel down, especially Bryan. TESD
Awesome that he is intermittent fasting now and plant-based.
