Why 70 percent of Ghana population live in the south
There are currently 16 regions in Ghana which can be broken down into 8 in the north and 8 in the south.
There is something strange, the 8 regions in the south make up about 70% of Ghana's population.
This simply means there are more people living in the south than north. So why is it that 70% of ghana's population live in the south?
This analysis was done using Ghana's latest population census data.

If the southern portion of UK is more populated than the North then it negates the fact that the density of a population is caused by being close to water because just like the South the northern part of UK is also close to the see, I don't get it please come again.

Hi Dogonyaro, thank you for taking time to share your thought. I understand your point about UK. My point about been close to water is not the only factor, it is ONE OF THE FACTORS to consider. As regards UK, obviously UK is an Island which means both north and south have access to ocean. My point about been close to water is still valid because when you look at the population map of UK towns and cities in proximity to ocean have large population. For UK the London factor and some other factors have more weight for the north south population difference than been close to water. For Ghana, south been close to water is not the major factor but surely it is one of the factors to be considered. There are a number of West African countries which their southern part also are more populated then the north. Don't forget that access to the ocean also has economic benefit especially when sea port is available. I am not disregarding your point though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and it is much appreciated.
