    Good tip on how to deal with dolphins. I've seen a lot of other folks have issues with them but none of them ever point out how to address it. This is good to know when I'm out there. Essentially ignore them and the reason you're there and they'll go away.

    Hey John a good tip is to grab them by their eyeballs to hold them a little better, it’s almost like grabbing behind the gills on a fluke in that little spot. Also I know it’s easy to buy them but it’s very easy to catch fiddler crabs if you find a sandy muddy flat and bring a long crowbar to push up their holes without much work

    Fiddlers are great when you can find them. Issue is that they are tough to find in winter time. Some people swear by the frozen sand fleas but never tried myself. Ive also seen guys clean up on sheepshead with a mini vudu shrimp.

    I mentioned when I saw you at the fishing expo last weekend that I got onto some redfish when in FL - what I didn’t mention was that it got shut down by a dolphin. Man that thing just wouldn’t leave, and it was thrashing the bunker… scaring away every damned thing.

    If you have leftover fiddler crabs be sure to put egg carton pieces in your container to give them something to hide in. If you leave them without shelter they will fight to the death and you will be left with only one or two "gladiator" fiddlers.

      I sat in at your seminar at Ward Melville, it’s always good. Blackfishing with light spinning tackle and jigs by far is my favorite type of fishing. I have friends that have gone south for sheepshead and they say it’s like Blackfishing, I have never fished for them, some of my friends say it’s better. What’s your thoughts comparatively speaking .

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 4 měsíci

      It's exactly blackfishing in that you use as light a weight jig as possible, wait through the little bites for the jig to move, then fight to keep them from breaking you off on the structure.

    How is it that the little Mangrove Snappers that are surely down there don't grab that crab before the Sheeps do? They got big enough mouths for that little crab. Are the sheep chasing them down and taking it from them?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 4 měsíci

      That's a great question. The underwater portions of this video show that when crabs go down, sheep are on them. When you toss shrimp, they get more interest from the snappers. czcams.com/video/wD5dg9MUtlk/video.html

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 4 měsíci

      A little research might put you more at ease about it. There has only been one fatal shark attack ever recorded in Southwest Florida, and it was over 130 years ago when a guy was in the water trying to free a tarpon from his net. You are many times more likely to get killed driving to the grocery store than you are kayaking in Southwest Florida.
