The Screaming Skull on Grave Mood Rings

  • Mixing vampire humor and 1970s tropes (like pet rocks, lava lamps, disco music, bell-bottom pants, mirror balls, and of course mood rings), the web series Grave Mood Rings pokes fast fun at classic slow-moving Gothic soap operas like Dark Shadows and the Canadian series Strange Paradise. In addition to a vampiric Viscount, a castle is home to a groovy Doctor (a phlebotomist, naturally), a jolly housekeeper with her own laugh track, a werewolf Vicar, and an arch-nemesis riddler wearing a Sphinx mask. Corny wordplay, the occasional bizarre sing-a-long, and haunted doughnuts punctuate the proceedings, in the tradition of the sketch comedy of MadTV, Kids in the Hall, and SCTV.

Orthodonsky!! As a victim of an HOA curse myself, I see this as reality itself. It’s such comfort to know others understand. ❤😂😂

Thank you! Reality itself may, indeed, be depicted here. I've long suspected that David Lynch films were in fact documentaries, and the same may one day be said of Grave Mood Rings.🤪

Black smoke signals, shortwave stations broadcasting only noise-images of the Beast of Gevaudan, CB radio communications from the dead ["I said get BACK, Good Buddy!"], morse code via flashes of a black light, numbers stations whose pre-recorded sampled messages were read by teenage Bela Lugosi, palindromic LPs who sound the same whether played normally or backwards...the Viscount's International Friends and Family Long Distance Plan has so much to offer!

Thank you! I guess someone had to finally ask how many screaming skulls are amenable to deed-restricted communities.🤪

There are many different kinds of mood rings. Some mood rings change with your mood, other mood rings change your mood, and other mood rings affect the mood of those around you. Still, other mood rings are given to you because of your mood, and don't change anything at all. Of course, there are also those rings that you only mess with because you're in a mood, but there is also the possibility of rings that you ignore because you are in a mood.💍 🤔

Coming up with real estate humor turned out to be even more fun that I guessed! Glad you caught this episode!

Well, he's a vampire so a Skull-King in the Shadows in a Bad Mood in probably not so bad, though tepid blood pudding probably doesn't warm His cold, dead heart. On the plus side they probably sold it to Nickelodeon in the 80s 'cause I seem to remember a joke about I Scream, 25¢.

Yeah, it seems like the long-distance charges were what mainly bothered the Viscount. That's cool if the skull got sold to Nickelodeon in the 80s -- would be a good factoid for the Fandom wiki: grave-mood-rings.fandom.com/wiki/Grave_Mood_Rings_Wiki

@@ProfessorOddfellow Bet you the show was sponsored by Hershey's in 1978, when the Whatchamacallit Candy Bar came out.

Viscount Vitchm'call should have been the spokesman! Who better to take a bite out of something than a vampire?

@@ProfessorOddfellow Whatchamacallits are among my all-time favorite Yankistani candy bars.
I recently received a package containing Caribbean-made Nuggle candy bars. When seaching for them, google insists the Nuggle is actually a Celtic sea monster.
