    Plugins do not read differently from Pre to Post metering... The only time a difference would be seen depending on the metering is if you have faders in different places.. ALL pre fader metering does is allow you to see the signal level before they're affected by the fader. Look... put a plugin on a track. Play and check the levels in prefader. Now switch to post fader metering. The level doesn't change unless your fader is not at unity....
    Look at your video around 4:30 when you're in Pre and turn on the compressor. The meter DOES change, it gets hotter. The exact same result would happen in Post fader mode and the fader at unity...
    You're essentially suggesting to use pre-fader mode to see the pre-plugin levels, but that's not how it works. It's strictly for checking levels before any fader adjustments. Again, with the faders all at unity, turn your plugins on and off. The meter will not change regardless of pre or post metering.

    Great tip, makes lots of sense. For mixing though, pre gain metering on or off? Thanks!

      Jeff Bastien funny story... I’m now the product manager for Logic Pro X at Apple! So yeah, isn’t that interesting! :) Pyramind is still doing their thing in SF, but I stopped my videos because I’m slammed with Apple events. This is why it warms my heart to see useful, things formative videos by folks like you. Very glad you are doing them!

      By the way, i think you’ll enjoy knowing that the entire Emagic alumni are still working on Logic, as well as the new folks that we received from Camel Audio. Just when I thought I knew it all, I met the fellows who actually coded all of the main components of Logic. It’s pretty awesome. Take good care! We should keep in touch. :)

    Hey I think in the new version of logic pro x they removed pre metering in the main moxer view. Is there a way to fix this ?

      @EverythingMusicRecording  Před 2 lety

      Nope, still there. Double check that pre-fader is still checked in the customize control bar and display window.

      Thank Nitin. It was a gift from my parents a few years ago. There is a store in Niagara on the Lake if I remember correctly that sells, or did sell them. I just tried doing a google search but I couldn’t find any like the one I’ve got.
