That was SICK. Hills are a totally different animal. So many variables and places where things can just go terribly wrong pretty quick. I'm a skateboarder that skates a lot of hills, I respect ANYONE willing to wave the flag and just GO! Couldn't imagine doing it on skates. At least I can bail out if things get way too hairy, you guys are stuck. Good on you man.

But this is your channel so My vote is “Lino’s Backbone” You know, in homage to the famous Rollerblading movie Airborne’s “Devils Backbone” Also for the fact that it took some backbone to do this gnarly ass hill as you expressed it being actually scary and dangerous.

That is an amazing ride for sure but that is not the steepest or longest in San Diego (maybe in Spring Valley ...) For sure steepest would be Torrey Pines Park Rd. It was once the main road up to San Diego from the lagoon side. It may not be longer but there is a curve on that road I could not even ride up in low gear. The signs say cars of the day often had to go up in reverse gear it was so steep. For long and steep try the "new" road that replaced it (on a day with low traffic!)
Oh - and there's also the Turner and Hooch drop at B St and 21st. It's short but it's a doozey! If you were to start at the top and not scrub you'd for sure get air at 21st!

No way in hell I'd do that. I lived in SD for a little while way back when, and it's a very hilly town. I remember riding a thrift shop bike down the hill that ran into the back of Jack Murphy stadium, wearing out the dry rotted brake pads in one go. Scared the hell out of me.

What is this fear with big hills like this? Isn't soul slide / alternating T stop enough to go down then safely?
The steeper the hill, the less effective stopping techniques become. You would also need some serious leg strength for a prolonged steep hill to maintain a safe speed.

I don't know exactly why, but I prefer to go up. I have one spot in my city, that I call 'uphill from hell'.
