I hope "Courage" will be famous last words, too. (i.e. I hope they bring back the headphone jack.)
To be fair, they did know how to do it. Problem was making it affordable for people because it needed to use so much tech. So they went through several revisions before ultimately canceling it.
@@juan2049 We don’t know for certain but the rumored issues was with overheating and power management. If the team “knew how to do this”, they mean “the team knows how to make this into a product” and we’d have an Airpower in our hands today

Well technically they know how to do it and it was working and there was even a working prototype. One of the main issues was overheating due to many coils underneath and the apple canceled the project.
Well, technically they _did_ know how to do it. Prototypes that have surfaced showed they made the concept work. What ended up killing the project was thermals. Apple did have the challenge of trying to configure the Qi standard to seamlessly charge multiple devices at once, but what they didn’t anticipate were the coils getting so hot that it made AirPower unstable and unsafe.
I mean, kudos to them for being ambitious but they really should’ve gone product testing before actually announcing it.
This new parachute works, it just happens to kill the person using it so we canceled. Not, they didn't know how to do it. If the problem you mentioned made the project being canceled it means that they failed to work around it.

I'm just glad it's qi and not some proprietary Apple wireless charger. More stuff will be mad for qi and I can use it with my Android.

I met a guy who worked on this. All he would tell me is that he worked on it. He then moved into the Apple Watch department.
I know that Apple didn’t create Wireless Charging but... Just look at that! It’s just gorgeous! I’m pretty sure Apple wasn’t the first in implement this tech, but surely is the one who best implemented it!
So where is it?
If they pulled it off then yeah they absolutely would’ve been the first. This still isn’t a thing, the issue was having 2 standards, qi and Apple Watch.

Actually, only 18 out of the 79 engineers who made Usb-c are from Apple. The biggest contributor to Type-c was Intel.

...so, it charges like a regular witless charger, but the only difference is that you can see the battery percentage through the phone?

What makes this different and why is it worth it?
No the difference is it can (or should i say it was suppose to be able to) charge multiple devices at the same time. Wireless chargers can only charge one device at a time, but AirPower was suppose to be able to charge multiple devices (iPhone, Airpods, and apple watch) at the same time.

HekTik it won’t. You need an inductive pad inside the phone. You need more than a glass back.
And iPhone 4S teardowns have confirmed that there is no such pad in this phone.
