I bought mine 2013 on the Civic EXL on Halloween 2013 with 12 miles on it. I now have about 450K on it. Have only replaced alternator, AC compressor and wheel bearing. The best car I’ve ever had.

As a mechanic myself, I can assure you these hondas are very reliable. I own one, a 2013 civic 1.8L and all I have done is regular oil changes, transmission fluid and filter changes every 30k miles, brakes and rotors when needed. However, this is just standard maintenance. On the otehr hand, the only fix I did was getting a "D" light flashing, which is common, and its not necessarily a transmission problem but a transmission fluid pressure sensor, which is external. Also, a minor oil leak coming from the timing chain inspection plate, which is very easy to repair. I do my own repairs on both my vehicles, including my Toyota camry. I've seen other makes and models such as GMC, Chevy and their timing chains have snapped at only 35 k miles because of their horrible eco tec engines. The hyundais and kias are as worse as GM and chevy, severe oil consumption, piston rings problems, engine blows up, catch on fire due to short under fuse box. I used to work for hyundai, Ford, and Subaru that's why I inow these things. As far qs Subarus, they qre also decent cars.. Nissans? They used to be reliable but now with their Jatco CVT transmissions, the biggest garbage ever.... They fail at around 45 to 65k miles, sometimes even sooner.. since Nissan merged with Renault, its quality has gone down the drain.

I have a 2013 LX with 392,000 miles on it. I've never had any problems. I don't change the oil until the system tells me to. Sometimes its 12,000 miles. Other than oil changes, just brakes and tires. I just recently had to get new rear drums for the first time. I did get new shocks, and I replaced the side window moldings because they were cracking. I could use a new steering wheel, and some of the radio buttons are worn out. Overall, it has been a great car.

Sent you a superthanks because you absolutely nailed the hesitation and slight bucking from a stop. My car has 190K and I drain and fill the tranny every 30k but the bucking was very concerning to me. I popped the hood, and checked that tube and its cracked at least half way around. I duct taped it till I can replace it and instantly the skipping was gone! I also have the oil seeping from the plate on the side of the block. Can't thank you enough for putting this video together.

Consumer Reports still continues to rate the 2015 Civic as the most reliable in the entire Civic's history. Even the new 2023 Civic can't beat 2015's rating. Today, Consumer Reports lists Honda Civic as #3 most reliable, after Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3, down from #1 when it peaked in 2015.

I have a '12 Coupe EX and I gotta say I love it. I've been using it to deliver pizzas while I got through college so I've put some serious wear and tear on it but it holds up strong. Replaced starter, battery, and brake pads once, other than that just oil changes every few months. Gonna look into maybe getting some suspension work done because it's starting to ride a little squeaky, but still drives fine.
It's my recommendation for a first time car owner, just because it needs minimal work and never gives me problems
My only gripe is that especially on the coupe, the engine bay is so small and crammed in, making it hard to work on anything. It's also so low to the ground that you have to jack it up to do any fluid changes. Also catches a lot of snow on the underside due to this in the winter

You’re spot on with that pressure switch loosening up. Happened to my 2015 Covic Coupe. Thought my oil pan was leaking but I found it was that switch. Took out the battery to have more space and tighten it up. I drew a white like across the transmission block and the switch bolt to see if it loosens up but so far so good. 3k miles since that happened and it’s still nice and tight.

I have a 2014 EXL w/136K and have had very few issues. As noted in this video, I had to replace the rear calipers and the air tube from the air cleaner to the air intake. The car did not throw any codes for the air tube though. I've also been advised to change the rubber hydraulic fluid hose feeding the rear calipers if you experience the rear caliper sticking as the friction caused by the sticking will likely cause the hose to cause additional issues. I do change the oil ~ every 5K and the trany fluid anytime the thing starts doing a bit of searching. I have not had success changing the water pump as the bolt holding the tensioner is a bear to remove. I even took the thing to my local mom and pop garage and they could not get the bolt off. Evidently this is a common issue with Hondas and I had the same issue with my wife's 2012 MDX. I will be giving the water pump replacement another attempt soon as the water pump is not going to last forever. For the next try, I'm going to remove the passenger side engine mount and lover the engine a couple of inches. This will enable me to use an impact driver directly to the tensioner bolt. Honda could have placed a hole for access to the tensioner bolt as I've seen in other Honda models. I've been buying Hondas sine 1981 and I believe the 81 Civic and the 2014 EXL and 2013 SI are the best vehicles I've owned. Thanks for the vid as it's always good to hear what issues others have so we can check on our cars before they become an issue.

In my opinion it is fairly reliable vehicle but I had a corolla too and i would say corolla reliability is much better. for me the major work I had was to change the alternator, rear shocks, right brake caliper jammed and leaked. Rotors, brakes and tires couple times other than that regular maintenance so not bad. keep changing transmission oil after every 35k and I never had issues with transmission. I change the oil every 10k, plugs around 20k and flush all fluids around 100k. so im happy with it and obviously steering wheel seems a little worn out now but thats not a biggie I will put a cover on it.

I have a '12 coupe. Runs great, looks great but 2 main issues are torque converter shudder and rear tire noise. The shuddering stops after changing the trans fluid but comes back after a couple weeks of driving. The road noise is unfixable and only the 2012 model from what I've heard. Fortunately, I don't take it on long trips because the noise is really loud

My daughter has a 2014 Honda civic lx with about 95k.
She bought it used two years ago. The transmission cap has popped out because the breather was clogged. I cleaned the breather and turned it towards the back so that when driving it does not get clogged. I also put an electrical tape around the cap to slightly increase its diameter and make it fit more tightly. I also put a zip tie on the cap top metal piece (tied it to a hose) so I don’t lose it if it pops out again.
I did replace the transmission filter and drained and filled the transmission fluid twice. (There were signs of squirrels eating nuts right around the transmission cap. I was afraid some nuts might have fallen in).so far so good.
I think it is a reliable car overall.
