Mine is just about at 175,000 and seems to drive better than not only anything I’ve driven that long, but anything else on the road up until maybe the 2016-20 models. It’s literally my favorite car I’ve even owned.
PS: it has the R18 engine, which you can look up yourself, but it’s actually pretty quick. 0-60 is slow as molasses but it handles really well and who is REALLY trying to be going that fast in an LX 😂
It handles higher speeds quite well, I’m just saying, it’s a Honda so you’re not going to really “pull” until you truly gas it, and this car has no problem doing that once you feel confident and comfortable.

  • @nottherealaaron

That split gauge cluster looks cool and futuristic. It's no weirder than a Prius. All of its competition was also dull and Consumer Reports is for old people. Cheap to run, cheap to fix, and comfortable and reliable as long as you don't try to make an economy car fast. In 30 years (assuming we're still allowed to own cars) I could see these being semi-collectible because so many of them get riced and wrecked or just used up as daily transportation.
    The voiceover was nice.

    • @JoiceVaderd
      @JoiceVaderd Před 2 lety +2

Yep. Definitely cheap to fix. My girlfriend has a Civic. Weird things break on it, but it's never anything to do with the engine or transmission. Her door won't open, so I'm putting in a new latch. Was $30. The wiper motor broke, so I put a new one in. That was $60. Just replaced the entire wiper transmission because it broke in to places. That was like $150. The only thing on the engine to go was the thermostat, but that was a $50 fix, as well. Very easy to work on. Reminds me of my 2001 BMW 330i, honestly. It's just weird how all the little stuff like that broke with 100k miles on the car, but I think it's just time. My BMW had it's own issues at 230k miles lol. She says if she's getting a newer car, it'll be another Civic. Can't complain.

CR recommended the 2011 and the 2013-2023. So if their advice/opinion is only for old ppl then young ppl should not buy the 2011 nor the 2013-2023 models? This video is going to make me switch back to my 12’ 😂
Originally my mom’s civic, she gave it to me after she upgraded to a corolla in 18. She said, she’d sleep better knowing I was in her civic 12 over my dad’s 03 Corolla.
That car was my FUEL efficient friend. Between school and work, I was driving almost 500 miles per week.
My favorite part besides traffic, was watching my MPG go up! My average was 37mpg and I was always trying to get it higher! (Curse the red lights!)
The only trouble I had with the 12, was the alternator and the belt. I’ve only changed it once since and it’s doing fine. Other then that, maintenance was normal.
Last summer, I took the 12 civic for a road trip and I got over 40mpg 🎉. I saved a ton of money on fuel as I traveled traveled across states to visit friends and explore new places.
This January I gave my younger brother the 12 civic. He is commuting to school, and compared to my Dad’s 03 Corolla, the 12 civic is still great with Fuel efficiency. 😂
While I wanted to get myself a 23’ civic, it was out of my budget. So I settled with a nice blue 16 civic. The car is running great and the Econ feature has improved from the 12 I been driving for a while.
The 12 civic currently is over 200k miles and running strong.
Compared to my dad’s 11 civic, that climbed past the 400k miles and was running strong.
I purchased the 16 civic at 82k miles in January and now am over 90k miles as of June.
But yea, I liked the 12 civic as did my mom. It’s a reliable car. My friends loved driving around with it and it got the job done!
Yea; the body was strange mold but the interior was just fine for me!

I bought a white 2012 Civic EX sedan in 2019 to do rideshare driving. I'm happy with it. It won't beat a Dodge Hellcat, Camaro, Mustang or BMW but it is peppy enough to make swift moves in traffic. The car is still a thrill on twisty turning roads. The only thing I would change is to paint it the color of the model in this video. The 1995 Eagle Talon I had for 19 years from new was painted a blue that was similar to the above car.

I love the 2012-13 Si coupe. In my opinion, it was the best looking civic since the EK. The face lifted coupe was actually disgusting. But I get why Honda felt the need to go back to the drawing board with the sedan. Sales tanked because people thought the Civic looked too similar to its predecessor and they would’ve continued to tank if they didn’t do anything about it.

I ended up returning that lease in 2016 and then financed a 2014 EXL. The 2014 was really nice but it was extremely loud on the highway with the 17 inch rim and then it had a CVT. 2014 is when the Civic was CVT two years of having it, I had to trade it in. Horribly slow and became bad on gas because you had to be doggin’ it so much to keep it moving. The 2013 with the automatic was much better.

We have a 2012 Civic HF. Gas mileage is upper 30s to low 40s. Only problem is the negative terminal battery sensor which seems to have a lot of problems. It will show there's an issue with the battery but there isn't so we just ignore it.

Easy to work on, under the hood, if you look down at the subframe they even have an arrow pointing to where to put your jack. I tow my 900lb atv with mine without issue as well. A great all around car. 270k trouble free. I have definitely been converted to Honda's with this car and that's coming from a 2015 Focus ST.

My 2012 Civic was actually the least reliable car I ever owned. I bought it to be my forever car and religiously maintained it with the hopes it would last 250k problem-free miles, but it went through batteries and tires like crazy, it left me stranded multiple times, the AC compressor needed replacement at 85k miles, and finally, the 5-speed auto grenaded at 105k miles.

Need advice anyone please??? I can't decide between a 2012 Scion Tc auto, 120k miles or a 2012 Honda Civic LX w Manual Transmission, 88k miles. I like the idea of a Honda with lower mileage even though it's slow and not sporty look. The Tc is faster as far as hp goes and looks better than the Civic LX but the 2 doors might make car insurance higher. I just want a fun daily, driver car and yes, I considered a Civic Si but they're out of my budget and most are high mileage or heavily modded. Let me know your thoughts??? Thx

This car was indeed panned for being cheaped out when it came out. Honda looked like a bunch of dirty double crossing sons of bitches when this thing came out. Its not that it wasn't reliable, but the interior looked like something out of the clearance aisle at ross, and the rear end was enough to gag a maggot. Other than cheap transportation, there wasn't much else to like about this car. Any other year of Civic is better and I feel sorry for anybody who got hoodwinked into buying this year. The SI is a little better but the Lx reminds me of something from a Texaco restroom.
