Man, never knew you could hunt on Catalina nvm harvest stud mulies! Dan's Rifle set up & your GunWerks are awesome platforms and were spot on/drilling nails with how accurate they were! Awesome Hunts, Rifles, Stud Catalina Bucks in a location unlike any other thats for sure! Should have done some Mako Shark & Tuna fishing while you were there, its supposed to be world class right off the island!
You can hunt anywhere you want to pay top dollar to kill stuff.
@@wesleyturner1979 definitely not true, there are 100% areas of land in the United States that are completely off limits for hunting and fishing. As well as in European, African, Asian & South American countries that also use/follow a strict wildlife/plant life etc protocol for conservation purposes that regardless of who you are or how much you'll pay is off limits. Breeding, Birthing & Bedding grounds, Migration Paths of mammal, bird & fish species, close proximity to something that is off limits to everyone esp civilians, the area may be deemed over hunted where the ratio of predators to prey & also food/water resources allowing the balance of predator vs prey completely out of whack. Also when wild life biologists, wild life protection/police & also state and federal wild life organizations conduct their studies on population, food, water, migration, breeding success & birthing success etc each quarter & year they can seem an area of land or a water way/body of water off limits regardless of how deep your pockets are. Kind of a long response to your post, but saying you can hunt anywhere you want if you're willing to pay is completely false & also a dangerous thing to say/post because it can also get people in trouble if they're trying to throw money at people when the answer is clearly No Hunting Allowed
@@C-24-Brandan I meant it kind of a figurative sense. Of course there are small areas where you can’t hunt. But usually if you have deep pockets you can find somewhere to hunt what you want.

Didn’t know about the deer slam I have a couple nice California Mule deer guess I’ll have to get the rest
Was just out on Catalina Island about a month or two ago. Mule deer are invasive and have taken over. They just passed legislation to have pretty much all the mule deer eradicated off the island.
First off, they didn’t vote on anything, this was a decision from California Fish and Wildlife, who was pushed from the Catalina Island Conservancy. Having been on the island, there is nowhere near the deer numbers that they say. I’m hoping that with all of the uproar on them trying to do this it is stopped. It would be awful if they erradicated the deer off the island.

What stock is the first rifle running ?
Looking on the website one of the requirements is wearing blaze orange. No-one including the guides were wearing it. I guess that's not an important rule to follow.

@Tiredfromcumguzzeling I'm not, I just noted a fact and was wondering if NADS was under different regs or knew something I didn't. Im new to hunting and I'm genuinely wondering what the real rules are.
Could be private land not requiring the hunter to wear it
@@Pr1mitiveHunter Is that the case with private land? Seems odd they didn't say they were on private in the video. Not impressive deer taken for a private land hunt. Especially the first one. Seemed rushed.
@@taotracy4431 I am not 100 percent if it is or isn’t private but I know in some states orange isn’t required on private.
How do you go about hunting deer in Catalina?

California does not require hunter orange. Not sure about the island rule. I do know that as soon as you put your hands on your deer, you must tag it. Maybe I missed it, did not see the tags!!!!
We put the tags on as soon as we are done with filming and pictures. It is required to tag before moving. No orange required on the island either.

This film really pisses me off.
A: you did not have permission from the conservancy to make a film and the permit cost upmost of $5k.
B: Kika (aka: Franklin) have absolutely nothing to do with this guided hunt, yet you made it look like he was the outfit and he most definitely is NOT.
C: not ONCE did you mention WILDLIFEWEST as the ACTUAL outfit.
This film was SHADY to watch and pissed me off. Do better man. Do it the right way.
You are correct; we did a hunt with Wildlife West, and they did an absolutely fabulous job. But Jake set up everything with my hunts this year in California and went above and beyond for me knowing my time limitations. Now, unlike the majority of the hunting industry, I pay 100% of my hunt costs and do not take hunts for free or in trade. This allows me to film and air them without hurting anybody's feelings. Again, I want to make myself 100% clear here: Wildlife West did an awesome job; from the food and lodging to the amazing guides in the field, there isn’t a thing I’d change. I hope that something changes so the deer on Catalina Island are not eradicated, as it would be a complete shame.
What do these guys do without guides and a lot of money?
Make guys like you and I work harder to have the money/time to be able to do the same thing while we’re still young - I mean heck; we both clicked on the video didn’t we?
Amazing how a pocket full of money and a camera crew can make you a top notch hunter!! Just think where Daniel Boone could have gone! You folks should really be embarrassed of yourself in my opinion, your not hunters, your driving the sport into the dirt for the (common folk)

Take your job and make it better? Passion and hard work apply to hunting and life. Envy and jealousy are two very different things. Know the difference and live a better life.
