I think it’s easier to archery hunt in the archery zones rather than the guide only areas. Cool video, Bob took care of our velvet this year and was extremely helpful.

i love your videos, even if they don't end in success but i would also like and extended version after the kill and the cleaning and processing like the entire experience especially on trips like this. The fellowship and the preparation are all really exciting parts of the hunt! and you could even do a normal video like this and then do a behind the hunt kinda video after that might be cool

Hunted Lani several times. Never did get one with a bow but took a good buck and several does black powder. Bob is right, best meat hands down of any other animal.
Seriously considering booking this hunt looks like tons of fun.

I was just in Hawaii for the the first time last week and I took a ferry from Maui to lanai’i on Wednesday and saw axis deer near the Hulopoe beach. My wife, my friends, and I visited the cat sanctuary there lol 😂. Definitely a cool island.

Great video. I forget who described hunting axis deer with a bow and arrow, specifically in Hawaii, as similar to bow hunting elk in September. Watching this video, and not hearing any of the signature axis roars, or screams as the one gentleman says in the video, I think it’s more like a tropical mule deer hunt. Fun fact, I have hunted axis on fenced and free range properties as low as 50 acres and as high as 3000 acres, and they all act the exact same. Definitely the most challenging animal to hunt (that I have hunted).

Seek One y’all should come to NorthEast Tennessee. I have seen many big bucks around. If you get permission on certain spots there are a lot of 180+ deer!

That is a good hunt that the average person in the continental 48 can definitely relate too. Those nonindigenous deer looked as uncomfortable as the ones in your backyard.

Very nice hunt guys. Having harvested many axis deer with my bow and a few with my rifle over the last 12 years or so, yes they are really hard to kill with a bow. I did kill one at 82 yards one time with my bow. On the shot the deer ducked and started to bolt, then changed it's mind and stood straight back up with this alert look right as the arrow hit. Video proof is on my channel if you don't believe that one. I have found axis to be much harder to kill with a bow than a WT because, (1) they are so squirmy. That rare time when you do get them within 30 yards, they don't like to settle. (2) They do not pattern like WT. You will see them on a game cam 1 day and they won't cross that place or come to that feeder again for maybe a week or 2. I have had too many times to count as I watched a giant axis buck skirt my position just out of bow range. (3) Their vitals are pushed into their chest like African animals. I have shot at least 2 axis that I remember in the creese broadside, only to watch them run off and never find them. I would also suggest to never shoot an axis deer with an expandable because you are going to have to make it through some tough bone a lot of the time if you want to get that arrow in the vitals. I stopped shooting mechanicals because of my nightmares with hitting axis in places that would have killed a WT in 80 yards only to see them bleed for 100 yards and then see them again on a game came a month later. They are very tough animals. Looking for the next video. Hope to see you get one with your bow. That is a challenge, and spot and stalk, a challenge multiplied. Blessings.
