- CZcamsr Totally Not Mark has received 150+ copyright claims on his channel from Toei Animation for making content related to anime such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, and more. CZcams's copyright system is so broken and there's no update to this situation in sight.

Also, after 12/13/21, YT will remove the API, the code that the plug-in uses to show the dislikes, but creators may in the future be able to voluntarily extract the dislike count from the creator's private dashboard. If not, the plug-in will estimate the dislikes based upon the like/dislike patterns from other users who have the plug-in. :)
I get the feeling that CZcams is secretly purposely not fixing their copyright system and won’t admit it.

They keep making money regardless of if the CZcamsr isn't or if they are.

I don't really watch anime related content, and never heard of Totally Not Mark. Though, I started watching Hunter X Hunter on 11/7/21. :) Great show, and it has great moral/social related concepts.
BTW, TNM's brown leather jacket looks quite good on him. I have a black '90s leather jacket that I got from a fellow coworker in 2019. Lol... It's probably older than me, cos I was born in the late '90s. Man, I am very talkative today.

*BTW, I am no longer friends with this guy who I watched my first anime with cos we became roommates in April 2021, and we didn't get along (he and I had friction, on both sides) so I moved back home in late July 2021, and haven't talked to him since.
I subscribed to him and I’m planning on watching some of his videos later. Funny thing is I only found his channel because of this controversy

The guy in the video called the company hypocritical and he’s honestly in the right. They tried to use him to support one of their concerts, and then they do this to him. Truly hypocritical.

Wouldn't be the first time a company did that. Disney used the furries to get tons of free marketing for Zootopia back in 2016, then threw them to the curb and pretended to have never associated with them once they got their ticket and DVD/Blue-Ray sales.

Fair Use only exists outside of Japan most of the time. Just look up Joey's videos on this topic.
Hey, they are the ones who let copa overrun there website, they are the ones who removed the dislike to protect news channels and advertisers, and they are the ones who have accidentally destroyed entire carrier’s and haven’t done anything to solve the issue on the platform, so you think they are smart and brave enough to get involved with their proven bot system?
They’re just basically eating popcorn while the bully (toei) goes after the child (Mark)
For legal reasons they have to, CZcams can't get involved in copyright disputes without putting their safe harbour status at risk.
Sad thing is totally not mark is a good dude and his channel was wholesome and pretty great. My heart goes out to the guy. And CZcams should be ashamed.

Honestly, I never heard of Totally Not Mark. But I definitely feel bad for him after hearing about his situation with the 150+ copyright strikes. Situations like this make me feel grateful that I don't rely on CZcams views for an income.

@@redred222 This isn't how laws work, dude. Toei never goes to court with these things even with youtubers. They know exactly that they don't have a case in court so they don't react at all to that.

I really hope he’s able to get those videos back up because they had so much effort put into them with his research, scripts, and editing. He was the one who got me into Dragon Ball and One Piece so it sucks seeing those videos get taken down. I hope the situation is able to reach the biggest audience possible so something is able to be done.

I'm not surprised, in Japan there is no concept of fair use, Japanese yotubers were even arrested for using fixed frames and 20-second clips from movies without the permission of the studio for a review
I'm Japanese, but I've never heard of such a case, so would you tell me if you know the source of the arrest?
And yet Toei will just let one one of their employees steal other people's music for a good 20 years until they can't hide it anymore.
I watched him for a while, and this makes me so sad to see. Just going through his playlist and seeing all the delisted videos hurts. Hope he can get this fixed.

As someone who's watched Mark's content since the beginning when he started to really make videos, it's crazy seeing everyone talk about this situation. On one hand he's getting a lot of attention and more people will watch his content, which is cool, but what this really does, is show how broken CZcams's copyright system is. I've seen dozens of Mark's videos. He had total respect for the industry and would never do something that brakes copyright law.
I'm a huge fan of Mark and it fills me with joy to see this get such massive attention. Toei are a bunch of snakes.
It’s disgusting how CZcams can steal the fruits of this mans labor and give it to a corporation. Three years of work, gone in one night!

A boy getting disciplined by his parents when he retaliates after getting harmed by an older boy, represents this whole situation.
It is Seriously terrifying to see what is Happening to him and it is insanely unfair how all of his hard work is being taken from him.

It's sad to see BOTH of the only two people I've ever seen on CZcams that gave GT a fair shot go down like this (this happened to Saiyan Scholar a couple months ago but hopefully since Mark has a bigger following this will be fixed.)
CZcams needs to fix its copyright system now. It's a real shame that CZcams's copyright system is so abusable, yet they refuse to fix it and use their efforts to remove essential features for feedback for creators of this platform. Multiple creators have dealt with this situation and it's unfair. Its scary especially if your a smaller creator with no partner manager or network to help you with your channel. CZcams fix your copyright system now, and companies need to stop dropping the copyright hammer on us like a game of whack a mole and stop causing fear in communities that make videos that are well within the fair use guidelines
It sucks that garbage channels that harm animals for views are still up but this innocent dude has to be the one to get banned before they could.

I was literally thinking of that one youtube creator that literally watched a ton of anime episodes and barely commentating on them while also labeling them as “Reaction Videos”.
Mark is the man who got me into One Piece in the first place with his well formatted videos and enthusiasm and I'm really grateful for it. It's terrible to see this happen to him of all people. ;(

Toei Animation broke the world record for most videos taken down in a 24 hour time span
If this is accurate, one of two things needs to happen.
1) youtube interveens on the basis of clear and obvious abbuse of their system.
2) sue the people who copyright struck his channel for damages.

This is sort of a big problem when it comes to Japan as well. Most companies in Japan have an old school way of thinking. They want full control of a product and other sub products that come along with it.
Just look at the situation with that one Acting studio that refuses to port Judgement and Lost Judgement anywhere else because of fear that the image of the actor might get stolen and/or maybe manipulated (Newsflash, the image of the actor can already be taken and the model that's used for Judgement and Lost Judgement can be modded to other Yakuza games now. That's the power of technology)
I do admire Japan's way of thinking that is "Don't fix what isn't broken" but when it screws with other people's livelihood and hard work this badly (actually, most Japanese companies seem to still do that) I think they need to keep up with the times some more.

Let’s be real here, this was 100% a calculated move by toei animation. They know CZcams isn’t going to do anything so they wanted to create as much controversy as they could so everyone would talk about them and as many people as possible would fear them. Destroying someone’s entire livelihood right before Christmas sends the message “this will happen to you if we don’t like you.”

I hope CZcams actually takes action, I watch a lot of totally not mark and I can clearly say that he doesn’t deserve any of the copyright claims, especially literally for his drawing videos that just have “dragon ball” in the title. Someone’s entire career is in the brink of ending in the blink of an eye and the fact that CZcams is more focused on removing the dislike button instead of the real problems at hand that’s been going on for a decade is ridiculous.
Fun little fact for you. About 6 months ago, they did this to a different creator, except he outright got strikes not takedown. They even struck a Sonic vid, which, as we are all aware, TOEI DOES NOT OWN SONIC.

First Saiyan Scholar gets attacked (roughly 300-350 strikes, somehow he fought through it all but his views have TANKED compared to before) and now Mark.
MARK, the guy that's very cautious and follows the guidelines to the T
Japan itself does not have a general fair use law. It's hard to show a company in any form on a video. I'm not sure how it works online, but I do know that if you are filming in Japan it is insanely difficult to film inside, or even outside of a companies building.

And this is it all my favorite commentators have spoken on it I’ve been watching TNM for 4 years now ever since I was a freshman in high school and hearing this is just honestly heartbreaking and knowing that this situation is something people are taking this seriously means a lot mark deserves justice and I for one will not be supporting anything of toei until justice is served

It is. But the companies dont care and think they own literally everything dragonball, including things they didnt make nor had any hand in.
Most of those blind reviews were reviewing the MANGA. There would be a couple seconds of footage from the anime every now and then, but he reviewed the source material, not the toei properties. I've been watching him for years now and it sucks that all those videos are gone.
