  • Welcome to the channel for another video.
In this short video I film an ancient Cotswold tradition known as The Finger In The Spring
Once a year at the end of April locals from the Stroud area get dressed up and walk to a natural spring where each individual wets their finger in the water. This is supposed to bring luck and good health and also it’s a celebration of the Spring season.
The procession is led by a group of Morris Dancers in ancient costume and various musicians playing a traditional song with the following lyrics:
Oh We are Merry Morris Folk
    We Gayley dance and sing
    We wake from weary winter
    To find the Joyous Spring.
Put Your Finger in the spring
Put it in, put it in
Put your finger in the spring
To see what the season brings
Hope you enjoy the short video.
