- So I recently got a capture card so I decided to record some of these.
So yeah these actually have a risk, like save file loss or temporary graphic freeze.
I've actually had a crash screen burned on my home screen for like 2 hours
so yeah.
You can even see at 0:36 it lags a little from the crash, which is not normal.

I love how the crashes are so bad it even crashes the SNES Online app.
So the Switch will close softwares which had error occurred.

I once crashed the sega emulator playing sonic on metal sonic
If it would to happen on a PS2, it would restart the PS2, or even give a RROD
@@K64TheMarioRecolor The actual console will just keep going until you switch it off. Emulator's implementation of SNES hardware might not react correctly to undefined behavior, which can happen if the CPU starts executing the "code" from open bus.

I'm somewhat surprised these Crash not just the game, but also the NSO thing itself. Even bypassed the service's main crash handler (like what usually happens in games like Kirby's Adventure and Metroid)… In truth I've yet to see a crash bypass the main console's crash handler, and simultaneously I fear the day I may see that happen.

I did a crash by this without realizing it in a rom hack i put in my snes classic
using the rewind feature, pressing different buttons during the playback video changes the game, so definitely something wacky going on with nintendo's emulation that lets inputs be registered outside of a game scope.
they probably picked up on this potential in NSO so it crashes as a failsafe
They fixed it crashing NSO itself, now it just boots you to the NSO game select screen.

The fire flower is basically a really powerful entity that could end the Mario universe if one really tiny wrong move is made

I think it's intentional to prevent damage to the ROM, since glitches like this can corrupt save data or damage the cartridge on real SNES/SFC hardware

@@thisnameisbad3609 Actually, it's not reading the Rom on Nintendo's servers because i played the SNES online app while NOT having the console connected to the internet. So... It's not reading from the servers. I hope that i helped.

This is so satisfying, seeing all of the graphics being corrupted, along with the weird sound effects, then being followed by the Nintendo Switch crash screen.
They actually put a thing in their latest update where if the game you play crashes it just pushes you back to the online game selection.

I remember one time i did crash a kid icarus game on the Switch, for whenever reason when i accidently touch a reaper, the level completly glitch and freeze and with the music of the Reaper still going on. That one scare me

You can also crash either the game or the entire console in super Mario 3d all stars. Basically load up mario 64, press start to play, immediately go down to the score tab, go to the delete tab then where it says Yes or No, press Yes and there’s a crash.
Edit: it doesn’t seem to be a major crash also for me it only crashed the game but when I left my switch running in sleep mode for 5 months then did the glitch it crashed the whole console.

I think it closes the SNES Online app to prevent damage to the rom contained inside. If that's the case, that's some good foresight from Nintendo.

I tried doing the spin jump fire Yoshi eating coin while collecting coin at the same time glitch crash, but it didn’t work a few times
I think Nintendo might’ve patched it or I have bad luck cause I collected the coin as Yoshi ate it
it has to happen at the exact time that the charging chuck is loaded so the coin is replaced with the chuck while yoshis tongue is still going back into his mouth

I think that on the processor that runs the SNES there’s a machine code instruction that can be executed that just stops the processor. Maybe the emulator app is coded to crash when that instruction is read

its a very high state like doing it around 20 times and also the part about it closing the app might be patched

Once I did a Powerup Incrementation crash, and the switch online app crashed, but the switch was running fine, as I could go to the Home Menu.

Don't do this on original hardware or the Wii U unless you want to render your investment essentially worthless!

Glitches like this can damage the ROM and even the cartridge and real SNES hardware, the NSO crashes as a fail safe
You should make one more, but try to rewind the game

ive had a crash screen stuck over the nintendo switch screen for a few hours before, but ive heard it can alse delete your save files and other stuff. however its quite rare ive only had that happen once in 2 years

Collecting a fire flower while riding on Yoshi or reaching a checkpoint might cause the game to corrupt and crash.

@@UniverseDevon btw game crash on sonic 2 is easy, enable debug mode in sound test, then go to any zone and then jump on a spike, when you are on death state, enable debug mode and then place any object and the game crashes.
